Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our waitress was terrible! We ordered guacamole soon after we were seated and we waited for about 20 minutes and the waitress comes over to tell us the guacamole was delivered to the wrong table- no apology, no compensation for that. Luckily the food was good, never got re-fills on water, never came back to check on us, didn’t offer a dessert menu or coffee. We had come to celebrate a birthday and it was noted in our open table reservation, which was completely ignored. We were not happy!
The seating was a little to close to other tables. You can visibly see others are uncomfortable with how close they are to the other tables by the couch area. The food was great, just wish the spacing was bigger. There wasn't a sense of privacy while dining at this location!
We went for happy hour in the bar area, drinks were AMAZING, food was good. Our waitress was really nice but she kept forgetting our drink order and we were trying to get our drinks while happy hour was still happening so it was a little irritating but she was really great about it so overall it was a great experience and we are definitely going back!
One flaw, after dozens of visits...and sadly, one that has put me off on ordering one of my favorite Paladar meals any time in the near future - Chipotle Honey Berkshire pork chop. The rest of our table's order was good, and the waitress was warm and friendly - she recognized us from our many visits. Unfortunately, just before our entrees came out, she was slammed with a # of tables, and didn't get back quickly to check if the meals were fine.
I'd ordered the pork medium, stating that some pink was ok. This pork has ALWAYS been fantastic - nicely grill marked, nearly all white, yet glistening with juices and a tinge of pink. As my knife touched the surface, I could feel this chop was underdone by quite a bit. The pork was medium rare to rare, and off putting. There looked to have been an attempt at butterflying, tho it was a 1/3 to 2/3 cut - uneven at best - tho it didn't help the doneness, as it wasn't a full butterfly. Unless the diner requests well done, there's no reason to butterfly without at least asking the customer first.
By the time we were checked on, the rest of my family was done. The manager (who we've never seen before) came over, and seemingly thought the cook on it was correct. She offered dessert on the house, which always rings thru as being how some of the people in charge end up taking care of the 'situation'.
Looks like next time, it's up to us as diners to flag someone down if we haven't been checked back in within 5 minutes of receiving our entrees...this imperfection won't keep us from returning, but 'the other white meat' won't be ordered any time soon.
I hadn't been there since early this year, but it is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the food, although I have to make myself try something different each time I go because my previous meals are always so tasty. The service is top notch. In the four years I've ben going, I've only had one bad experience with a server, but the restaurant was very accommodating. Keep up the good work.
Paladar is in our regular rotation of places we love to go. The food is great, the service is always good, and the atmosphere, whether out on the patio in the summer or inside at any time, is pleasing and comfortable. The guac is fantastic, too. We get the trio every time.
I had really great expectations of this restaurant. It was recommended by a friend and I was looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately I did not have the experience I was looking forward to. Restaurant was very pretty and The patio perfect for brunch. The service was so slow and unattentive. We had to ask for water and coffee then we had to ask for them to be refilled. I ordered the huevos rancheros and the egg on top was really runny/undercooked and the yolk ice cold. They took it back asking how i would like it and I asked for it to be cooked a little more so the white wasn't runny. 20 minutes later I got a hard cooked egg which was burnt and rubbery. No time while I waited did the waitress come over. By this time my husband finished his meal. I was so hungry I had some of my husband's soup (gazpacho which was delicious) and the beans they put on the side for my egg. The manager came over to offer me something else explaining she misunderstood what I wanted. I might have if we hadn't already been there an hour. I would like to try the restaurant again and will be careful what I order and ask a lot of questions. The manager said she would remember me and take care of me. I asked for her card and we left. I'd like to think it was an off day. I answered no to recommending to a friend until I go back and try it again.
Lost order for quac., Chicken in chicken mango salad was dry and overlooked. Couldn't get an oakey Chard for less than 10.50 a glass,. Server Malcolm was good but had too many tables. I have been to Paladar many times...not as good as it was a few years ago.
Always one of our favorite places until the other evening. The service was not good, the waitress spoiled the surprise of the birthday dessert, which never appeared anyway. We were never offered coffee. The chicken was dry and overcooked. It was way over two hours until we could get the check. It was a total disaster and the manager kept apologizing yet never did anything to correct the situation. We won't be returning for a very long time.
Have heard many times that this place is great. We had just never given it a try for one reason or another. Cannot tell you how good it was. Disappointed that I did not go sooner. Food was on point. Flavors we spectacular. The patio was a little too close to the parking lot but nothing to worry about. Ambiance was great. Will be back often.
4 of us had a late birthday dinner last Friday. Since we brought a cake, the birthday girl got a complimentary guacamole ! That was an added surprise. Drinks were good. Meals were all delicious. Steak was good; mini fish tacos were interesting w smoked whitefish, sort of bland - but they were really good.
