We've been to this restaurant a couple times and are still experimenting. Everything has been good, and some things have been very good. This time we tried the guacamole, lamb meatballs, cauliflower and Cubano sandwish. The guacamole was bland (we ordered the traditional, but should have spiced it up), the cubano was good, and the cauliflower was VERY spicy and quite good. But the star of the meal was the lamb meatballs, an appetizer. We will definitely go back for more of those. I also loved the tiny fish tacos on an earlier visit.
While the menu items look interesting, the quality of the food was disappointing. My feijoada stew was below average, my wife's fish came with some original (but inedible and unhealthy!) fried batter chips as the carb, and the others thought their meals were simply average. The drinks were good but quite pricey ($9-10). The waiter was friendly but not informative about the dishes and his service was quite slow, though he seemed pretty proud of himself for having an Italian accent. The happy hour crowd looked quite happy and noisy, but I wouldn't recommend it highly for meals; certainly not a good value.
Great fun atmosphere and varied menu. Unbelievable selection of rum! Must try the plantain chips and guacamole.
We had a great time
Do you like guacamole?
If you do..... you will absolutely love this restaurant. It has cross section of latin foods that are satisfying and authentic tasting.
The Latin music is energetic and there’s plenty of space so you can get a booth or have a large lunch party. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Because they have such a wide ranging assortment of Latin dishes, it seems like it takes a little longer than normal to get your food.. That would be the only downside for me. But, it’s worth the wait.
You won’t get bored waiting for your food because you can pig out on guacamole… Not only is their standard “Guac” totaly delicious but they have an assortment of the guacamolies.. and assorted types of chips.
The habanero will bite you back.
PS if this review doesn’t make sense… Blame Siri
$5 mojitos! The happy hour is amazing and delicious. Service was friendly and overall everything was amazing. This is going to be my new happy hour spot!
Food was great, our server Alfredo was very friendly and attentive. Thanks for a great evening!
Very slow service. Management is useless as well. Came in at 1145 and by 1240 one of the parties still hadn't gotten the food. When asking for an update, instead of checking on the food, the server goes to the next table to take their order. Will not be going back.
I heard good things about the restaurant and decided to try it. Was warned to get a reservation, which I did. Excellent Latin food, very good service, large bar area with great happy hour prices. Definitely worth going back to.
I had the skirt steak and it was good. The tropical sangria was great. Service was a bit slow. Enjoyed it. Not a wow!
Outstanding rum bar with knowledgeable bartenders. The food was delicious. Recommend the salsas!
Good food and excellent service. Great drinks with an amazing choice of rum and rum based drinks. Food from, and inspired by, Latin America and Caribbean cuisines. It's a fun place to go.
Friend’s get together.
We celebrated my best friend’s birthday at this location and it was great! We didn’t expect it to be so much better compared to another location that we usually go to. Our server was the best as well. He was able to accommodate us. It was a great experience overall! 👏🏼
I love this place. I am looking forward to trying a brunch there.
Service was wonderful and we were able to sit as a group of 10 and enjoyed the evening. Food was wonderful and the Rum Flights were well designed and really showed the aspect of Rum as a solo drink.
I did have to call to increase the reservation to 10 as they didn't allow larger group reservations via Open Table. We were not allowed to order from the happy hour menu despite my reservation request that I wanted to have a "happy hour" reservation. This being a result of we were sat in the restaurant vs the Bar Area. Both understandable but not as requested. We were able to roam around and socialize between the party and did have a quieter location but would have liked to have the happy hour options vs the full menu.
We came in for a birthday dinner. Service was outstanding and timely. Food was exquisite and rum selection was fantastic. A definite return is needed.
Excellent Rum and a very hearty Cuban sandwich. The mojo work was moist and went great with the melted cheese
I visited the Anapolis lcoation first not realizing that there was a Paladar in my backyard. But it's so different, unfortunately. The ambiance is dated and it was very quiet on a holiday Sunday. I was a little disappointed because it didn't just have the same vibe as the Anapolis location and I had hyped it up to my friends. Our server was nice but not like the amazing experience I had before. So it wasn't a bad experience but not great. I'd still return for the food maybe.
We had such a wonderful dinner out with friends at Paladar! The wait staff were incredibly attentive, the food was delicious (and came in large portions, so I had enough for lunch the next day), and the ambiance was fun. Thanks!
The food was truly outstanding and the rum selection impressive. Latin comfort food at its finest. Will definitely be going back.
It was a nice casual atmosphere and the rum flights were actually pretty interesting.
I would recommend it for a casual get together. Nothing fancy. Food was decent but nothing exceptional.
Excellent Caribbean/Latin food. Fresh ingredients.
It’s a unique restaurant. My guests were from Minnesota and don’t have many Latin options. They were impressed that a chain like this exists.
Walking in there was an bad odor. Seemed like the bathroom backed up. I asked to move tables because the odor was worse on one side of the restaurant.
I ordered the Cuban sandwich lunch special. It was just okay. I really couldn’t enjoy my meal because of the smell.
I heard the brunch is amazing. Maybe once I know the smell is gone I’ll try it again.
Service was outstanding! Our server, Florian was friendly, professional and made us feel special.
Unfortunately we were unable to eat here as on a hot, humid day, th air conditioning was barely on and so we left
I have been here twice. The first time I tried the ropa vieja cuban dish and I did not like it at all. Maybe they try to change something to give it originality but is off from a cuban dish. It had some weird yellow sauce. For dessert I got tres leches, completely disappointed. It was the driest tres leches I ever had, they just added the sweet milk on top to try to make it moist which didnt work. Second time I went for a bday. This time was better. I ordered a burger and it was good. It was my friends bday and manager was nice to give her a dessert for free.
Second time there and was disappointed with quality of food. Food was much better the first time
From the moment we walked in where our reservation for 8 table was already set up for us until our final bite of food, everything was incredible! The food had layers of delicious flavors that melted in your mouth!
The first time we dined at Paladar about a year ago, I loved it. It was a happening place on a Saturday evening and the food was great. I'm not sure whether it has slipped since then, but I probably will not return. I was celebrating my birthday dinner on a Sunday with family. This time, the place was almost empty, and the service was slow. However, the main issue is that my entree (a seafood dish) was very salty. I sent it back after waiting a while for the waiter to check back with us. The remade entree was still salty but I didn't send it back again. Why must chefs oversalt food? On a positive note, the plantains, caesar salad and guac were excellent.
The food was unremarkable. The duck tacos were dry, and needed a sauce or salsa of some sort to counter the dry meat and cabbage. The appetizers were standard. Overall nothing special. The restaurant was literally empty. However the service took quite a long time to come back with drinks considering the only tables taken were on the small outside patio.
This at one time was one of my favorite restaurants. I was disappointed to find that my food was quite bland and way under seasoned this visit. I figured it was just a one off since I hadn't been in a while. I learned towards the end of my visit that they had a new head chef. I probably won't be back.
We had a larger group, but the restaurant was not crowded at all . We waited almost an hour between apps and food arriving, at which point, some food was lukewarm and other food was overdone. I've been to a different location and the food and service was great, but this was not the best experience and I just decided to stop eating and reheat my food later at home. I don't know if anyone else noticed it in our group, but I thought the restaurant overall had a stale smell. Hope this was a one time thing, because it's a really interesting menu.
Great Spanish-style restaurant with inventive and delicious food options plus a very good rum-focused drink menu. One recommendation: cut the sugar in the mixed drinks by at least half.
Not ready for prime time. Made reservations for 11 on a Sunday for brunch. Walked in at the appointed hour, doors locked. No one made an effort to open the doors and welcome us.
If you're not ready, you're not getting our business. Nuff said.
Brad was an amazing server
The manager and waiter that was off duty stopped by our table to chat and they really made our first time enjoyable!
Fun menu...I've tried several different items and all were flavorful and unique.
Very much enjoyed Paladar. We shared guac and I had chicken tortilla soup and el cubano sandwich. Everything was great and had excellent flavor.
