Paladar Latin Kitchen and Rum Bar

The place is very nicely decorated. The service was good enough. However the food is so flat, something that you forget in a week, completely average at best. We went for brunch, my wife had the “feijoada”,a “popular” one. This was a black bean stew, period. This is not feijoada. Not even close. Where in the world is the feijoada already served over rice? No farofa, an staple in feijoada. And the taste, so uneventful, our home made feijoada is 10 time better and we don t dare to put a restaurant. Then i ordered chorizo and scrambled eggs tacos. I can do the same thing at home in a rush, nothing stood out.we ordered cafe con leche(cuban style),the waitress told us could take a while, didn t understand why. We had to roder to steam again the milk, was like microwaved, no silky texture as the steamed milk in cuban cafe con leche. We really enjoyed the grapefruit fresh juice. And that was it.
Sad that latin food is presented in such a boring menu and delivery, when is so tasteful and delicious. This place may be good for rum, but has no chance as a restaurant. Never coming back. Dining is a expericnce for the senses, this place failed to deliver.
The restaurant is beautiful but our waiter was just an order taker. He brought us our entrees before we even finished our appetizers. He never checked on us to see how our meals were and he started clearing our tables before we were all finished eating. Disappointing service with subpar, non-authentic food.
While the overall vibe of the place was decent, and the cocktails were good, the food left a lot to be desired. Appetizers were generally very small portions at upper end prices. The most disappointing portion of the meal was the entree. I ordered a Argentinian mixed grill, and the chorizo was dry as bone with little spice to it. The steak was tough and under salted and extremely grisly. If you go just for cocktails, it's probably great, but the food was a bummer.
Food and service was great. New things on the menu since we had last been including new fun cocktails.
Enjoyed the guacamole sampler and the mojo salmon.
I went there to meet a friend of mine. It just so happened to be during the Nationals World Series game #1. The waitress was great. The appetizers were pretty good. However, my main course, which was grilled chicken (with cilantro rice and black beans) was dry. The pomegranate-ginger mojito and the pomegranate-ginger Margarita was amazing. Overall... it was a good experience.
This has become our go-to place in the Crown. Easy access from the garage, consistantly delicious food and great, friendly service.
Very good food and service! Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the evening there!
It was a lovely fall evening so we enjoyed the patio. The flowers and lighting made Friday evening more festive. We missed corn chips with the guacamole. The plantains chips were think and hard. The braised beef tacos were not as good as usual. One guest enjoyed the grill platter. Both of our servers were very attentive and professional.
Recommend the braised beef tacos. Next time I will be trying the pork tacos.
The service was great, nice waitress and informative. Food was delicious, and our whole table enjoyed it all. Drinks were amazing too! Definitely will be coming back.
It was the restaurant's 5 year anniversary and it was chaotic and very loud. It would have been good to know that when booking. I would not have gone that night. Great guacamole and fabulous Brazilian cheesy bread.
Very good service and the food was great!
Our waiter was good but rushed us through our meal. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and our waiter brought it when we were half done with our entrees. Needless to say, the bread pudding was no longer warm by the time we got to it. It all felt rushed from drinks to dessert. I guess that could be good if you are in a rush but my wife and I were trying to enjoy a nice dinner and conversation.
Great atmosphere and fun menu. Really enjoyed the rum flights and extensive gluten free selection.
First time here. Very impressed. Great service!! Great food!!
Taco Tuesday is a bargain! Good selection of Tacos and the ones we had were all good to excellent. Can't beat $5 rail margaritas to accompany the tacos. Guac was very good, spicy salsa was very good, and the "chip" basket is always fun.
The Cuban sandwich was cold and the salads and soup came at the same time as the main dishes. The managers were kind and removed the charges from the bill but it was our first time there and we won't go back. Sorry
! Waitress was barely available! So drinks and food was ordered at the same time. Once ordered food and drinks they came in a reasonable timing .
We talked about having Mexican food, but when my wife mentioned Paladar, we decided that was a good choice. We started with guacamole which we ordered with shrimp. It was delivered without the shrimp. When we pointed out the omission to our waitress, she took the guacamole away and brought back a fresh serving with the shrimp. There were several shrimp split in half but they were sitting on top of the guacamole instead of being mixed in. The shrimp didn't add much flavor to the dish. The variety of chips was well presented and added to the dish. However, when we got the bill, we were charged for both guacamoles. The waitress corrected the mistake but whoever rang up the bill should have been paying attention. We also got the cheesy bread which was delicious. My wife got the salmon dish which she enjoyed. I got the crispy pork shank which was wonderful. I like well done meats and the pork shank was very well done. Both of our dishes were very large and we each got a second meal from that dinner. We also ordered the plantains which were very tasty and the flavor was enhance by the accompanying sour cream. The rum menu has been redone since our last visit and it was harder to follow than when it was set out where flavors were how they were listed.
I had to send my lamb burger back because it was too salty to eat. They were very accommodating and the subsequent burger was fine. The shrimp jalapeno ceviche was very good. My husband liked his fish tacos.
I used to love this restaurant, but the service has become so slow and it is extremely loud. Our reservation was at 9 pm so it was not busy, however, it took a very long time for us to get our food and drinks. Additionally, the noise level was so high that I could barely carry a conversation.
The Mojito‘s were amazing.
The steak in the steak salad was over cooked though. The shrimp tacos were OK but nothing special I was a little bit disappointed by the food.
Everything was average, nothing was outstanding. The restaurant was 20% full, but the service was as if it was 80% full. We had to ask for everything; more coffee, more sweetener, salt and pepper, to go boxes - things that an experienced on the ball server would have caught.
The manager did come over and greet us, which was a nice touch.
Took six of my colleagues to lunch and we all had a fantastic time with outstanding food I highly recommend Paladar
First time and it was a hit. Great service and cocktails. Guacamole mixes were outstanding mango, spicy and regular. Fish tacos and salmon dishes were the main dishes and they were awesome.
Great food and atmosphere! I will definitely be back.
There was a fly that kept flying around our table that we had to keep swiping at. Extremely annoying.
Went on a busy Friday night. Happy Hour was just ending but it was still very loud in the section farthest away from the bar area. Food was delicious. Attentive service.
I love this place and location. Great food ana service. Have to go back for dinner to try the drinks ana for the happy hour specials. A must check out for locals.
Amazing as always!
Great experience. The live music was nice, the place was clean, and service was quick.
Good night out.
Ordered the Argentina Mix Grill. Steak I asked for it to be well done. First bite blood was dripping out.
The food was tasty, I recommend the queso! We sat on the back patio which was lovely and quiet. Unfortunately it didn't have enough umbrellas so we burned a little bit. I don't know if it's because it was Sunday, or if the back patio, but service was slow to the point of pain.
Great food, as always. Terrible service. She forgot to our appetizer order in, so the guacamole arrived at the same time as the entrees. Meantime, we were very hungry.
Our server was lacking, both in knowledge and experience it seemed. We ordered the house specialty guacamole as an appetizer and it actually came after our entrees. We discussed sending it back but ultimately kept it. Grilled chicken looked good but lacked flavor. Excellent plantains. Pulled pork was a little dry. We asked to xtra sauce when we ordered but it didn't come, I think waiter didn't know if it existed. Overall decent food at decent prices but i personally will not go back, nothing special.
I had the Caribbean grilled chicken dish and it was not seasoned. Seems like the kitchen cooked the chicken and then put some sauce on top. The best item on my plate was the black beans and I’m not a fan of black beans.
Shrimp and grits from the brunch menu was yummy with bottomless mimosas. Service was slow to start as it was pretty busy once she took our order she was very attentive.
We come here often and the food is always great. Steak is one of the better steaks I’ve had including steakhouses
