Palacio Ratings and Reviews
I made the reservation and was told reservations were not accepted for patio seating but we could request. We arrive 15 minutes early and noticed two 4 tops available. We have a party of 5. The hostess said she saw we requested patio. We asked if we could just squeeze in a 5th chair. She says those two tables were spoken for already. We told her we were under the impression patio reservations could not be made as stated online. She would not budge. She said we could sit inside immediately or it could be quite a wait. She made absolutely no effort to seat us. We have been to this restaurant many times and we were very excited to try the new menu. Very disappointed. We left.
When we first came in, our waitress asked if we would like things other than water such as bread or chips and guac, and obviously the best option to us was chips and guac so we told her that. Then we were wondering if we would be charged because she made it seem as if it was free. She came back later and told us we would get charged $11. The waitress rarely smiled nor made conversation with us; she didn't check up on us and we barely saw her walking around so we couldn't get what we needed. She came around with a pitcher of water and completely skipped our table. When we ordered our food, we ordered the braised short ribs and were expecting a rack of bone-in short ribs but what did we get? A little cylinder of pork on top of asparagus and a bunch of unnecessary BBQ sauce; fine dining for you I guess. They just want your money and nothing else. The food was great, but if I had more then I would have been full. We had to get more dinner later on. Service was horrible and you guys should not charge people $23 for a small piece of meat when I can get a full rack of ribs for $25.
Went for Sunday Brunch. Would have preferred more choices for lunch. I order the tacos. They were delicious but at $18.50 overpriced.. My sister ordered the poached eggs. She said they were delicious as well. Had bottomless mimosas 3,glasses each. Good for the price Service was excellent. Waitress served us extremely well. Enjoyed the experience Only fault prices a bit much for quantity receive and more variety needed.
I'll not go back. I made the reservation the day before so they should not have been surprised by my party of 6. We were there 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. After 30 minutes we received our drinks and ordered. They got one of our orders completely wrong so that person sat for 5+ minutes while the rest of us had to start eating.
Very limited Sunday brunch menu.
The host was very accommodating when I called when we were running late due to the beach goers traffic and sat us inside when I switched my preference when I got there. However ,the waiter who was very nice was just very slow. And barely spoke to us. We waited a lot for him to order, refill our drinks and we had to ask for the kids ice cream in the end after he gave us our checks. Didn't even bother ask if we wanted dessert.
There's always a pleasure to go to Palacio for Sunday brunch, simple food, but tasty. The cocktails are amazing, very well prepared. The service was friendly and attentive, the outdoor sitting its beautiful, perfect place to relax on a sunny sunday in Los Gatos.
Palacio used to be "amazing" - menu completely changed - options limited, portions small and ceviche very fishy tasting and smelling. Margarita was decent - not as good as before - best part of Palacio now is outside dining and location, not the food or cocktails. We looked forward to Saturday date-night dinner outside with the Grand Palacio Margarita and an extended visit.
We had one margarita, two appetizers, sent the ceviche back and went somewhere else.
Overall a great experience. A few "hiccups"............nothing major and our waitress made everything perfect. There were five of us including our 9 year old granddaughter who had the lobster risotto that she really liked. All of us enjoyed our entrees and the pitcher of margaritas hit the spot.
We had a Saturday brunch there, everything was pretty good, except the coffee (I expected it to be hot, but it was merely warm) and country potatoes which came with salmon eggs Benedict (potatoes looked not very fresh-made, like they were cooked yesterday).
Unfortunately, I joined a colleague a few weeks earlier on a Friday some drinks and appetizers and the venue and atmosphere was completely different. It was busy, crowded and while the service was slow, understaffed, I assumed it was because it was so busy. Returning on a TH night for dinner, I thought it would be a much better experience, however the service was horrible, food was over cooked and even the tables that were pushed together were different heights. Was thinking it was more of a higher end place, but it was not, so will look for something different next time.
Food was fantastic, really good and inspired. Alas, the service was disjoint and disinterested. Our server was very attentive at first, offering advice on the menu, but after that largely disappeared. Empty glasses in obvious need of refilling sat for 10-15 minutes. Parent's food came out much later than our kid's food with no explanation or assurance the adult plates were in queue. Empty plates sat on table 15 minutes before a busser finally took them away. The check came without any offer of a dessert menu, though the day was Mother's Day and our 3-year-old clearly indicated my wife qualified for Mom status. Our server was attending to a lot of tables, but the place was not crazy busy even for a major dining holiday.
The setting was great, and though our server was sweet, between her and the kitchen, 2 out of our 3 plates were wrong. The food quality was embarrassingly low for a restaurant in the Bay Area - let alone Los Gatos. They used pre-cut frozen potatoes at brunch...this is Northern California. Everything should be fresh and farm to table which is what I was expecting given how cute the house/location is. Disappointing. Will not return. Really low quality food. My lettuce was mushy. But the patio is cute - maybe come for wine.
This building is amazing and I could see that dining on the deck on a summer day would be fun. The wait staff was not experienced at all. Main course came out before we were done with the salad. Both bathrooms were a mess. I won't be visiting this place until it's under different management.
We went on Cinco d' Mayo which may have been a mistake, the bar tenders were overwhelmed and rude to us while we waited for our table. Once we went to be seated, we were told our reservation would be 15-30 minutes delayed or we could sit outside. We opted to do that but it was a cool evening which made us somewhat uneasy, but the seating area was heated and we ended up being quite comfortable at the outdoor table. Prices were too high for small sharing plates in my opinion.
A great meal always. The chips and salsa are always wonderful. Additionally we had the Spare Ribs, Paella, Corn Soup, Fries and Brussel sprouts. Honestly, the sprouts could of been way better ... but everything else was great. And of course you have to finish a meal with the Churros ... well made and fresh out of the oven!
