Palace Arms at the Brown Palace Ratings and Reviews
The Palace Arms provided a memorable experience. The service was exceptional, the food delicious. It was plleasantly quiet when we arrived around 6. The noise level increased somewhat later on, but never reached the obnoxious level that it does in so many of Denver's fine establishments, i.e., we could have a conversation. We left feeling well satisfied and cared for. What else can one ask?
I think this is a great place for a quiet and relaxed lunch, for those who have some time to enjoy special friendships or special occasions.
For such a quality place, however, I did feel the "wait-Persons" were not attentive enough. I understand they work as a team, instead of having one person assigned to a table.(I thinks this is the problem) But we had to ask for everything we needing, by waving a hand, instead of them asking us. We also had a long wait to get our check, after asking 3 different people. The staff was all very nice.
Spent the night at the Brown Palace for our anniversary and had dinner at the Palace Arms. Impeccable service, wonderful ambiance, and outstanding food (the lamb and scallops). Extensive wine list and loved the Bananas' Foster prepared at our table. The chef came to our table and offered some recommendations--nice touch. It was also pleasant to see the patrons dressed for a fine evening of dining.
This was a very special birthday lunch for my sister's 79th birthday, and the staff at the Palace Arms had been alerted in my notes to them on Open Table, so they immediately greeted us and wished her Happy Birthday. They were very attentive -- explained the food options and helped us select them. A special dessert came after we had finished our entrees, compliments of the chef. We have long loved the ambiance of The Palace Arms, and our return to dining there lived up to all expectations. In fact, we are planning to organize a birthday lunch for a 103 year old friend before the year ends. Thank you to the entire staff at The Palace Arms for a very special birthday lunch.
To visit Denver without going to the Palace Arms would be a loss. Not only is this restaurant filled with history and local charm, but also the food is exceptional. We tried the chef's tasting menu and highly recommend the caesar salad prepared at table (something that is rarely done these days) as well as the bananas foster for dessert. The bison dish is not to be missed. The service and attention is 5-star quality.
Totally exquisite. First class master chef who obviously co-ordinates with sommelier and staff. Sommelier totally versed in worldwide regionals and historcal antecedents. Wait staff right down to table bussers could not be more gracious. As planned it, was an evening of entertainment as well as endless flavorsome delights (we both selected the 5 course pairings with buffalo filet entree, and wine pairings), and were beside ourselves with waves of oral and olfactory delights of the first order.
Fantastic as always; Old World charm, Old School elegance and service. If you can splurge on the one of the Tastings menus, I highly receommend it. We've eaten there twice over the last years or so and the whole staff seems to have remained the same. It's that type of place - it offers consistency and continuity in a world and an industry that have little of either. The chef often comes out and speaks with diners and couldn't seem more sincere about his love for what he does nor more eager to hear our opinions. Likewise, the sommelier was cordial, willing to answer any questions and never made us feel like neophytes. Always a great treat.
Cuisine"changed the way I personally ate forever. The Dinner start out with a taste of Tuna on a Tate,it sparked my taste buds. Then came the Crab Cake,O my,my taste Buds were going out of the world,it was fusion innovative technology, well any way it was rocket food,if that was the end of Dinner it would have been Great. Then came the Salad,it was lets see bang no it was boom, any way it was fresh and new. Then the main Dish was a Hallmark style of Bison,it had combine style all its Own.My Lady had the Salmon,It was a global creation of the best dining experiences for us.Would I return, the answer is yes, would I say it is the Best we had around this Great World?would say very close.Providing the over all guest experience ask for Lonnie
We had a fairly large party that was a special occassion and we dined at the Palace Arms. We were seated in a private room with antique furnishings, fresh red roses on the table, perfect. Our waiter was attentive, but seemed to know when to leave us alone. The food was wonderful! All in all, we expected a great time but our expectations were exceeded. Yes, it is expensive, but worth the money for the experience.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here while she joined me on a business trip. It was a delightful, memorable experience. The wait staff was superb, and the 5-course, tasting menu gave us a bit of everything without leaving us feeling stuffed or uncomfortable. Make sure you ask for the Caesar's salad and the Bananas foster for dessert. I would be happy to repeat the experience on our next trip to Denver.
This restaurant is located in a beautiful hotel and the food and service were first class. We ordered the 5 course tasting menu and enjoyed every course. I would highly recommend the heirloom tomato salad and the diver scallops. The Bananas Foster prepared tableside for dessert was a treat. All in all a very enjoyable evening.
Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere. First class service, from valet drop-off, welcoming by name, and seating. Ordered the 5 course sampler and shared it; each course was wonderful, great presentation, flavors, quality, and precision. Finishing with Bananas Foster cooked at the table is a finish with a flourish.
This was one of the best meals we have had in years, and we eat out quite a bit. Perfectly paced, sublty flavored courses,& the various waiters and sommelier were attentive, friendly and able to provide interesting conversation. The portions were small and perfect...left the 5 course tasting menu feeling comfortable. Of course, the wine offerings were amazing (37 pages of amazing) with a wide price range to suit the oenophile and the novice. My only dissatisfaction was the fact that the restaurant did not require appropriate dress. It showed disrespect for other diners.
Beautiful historic restaurant. Food sounded great, looked great but just average. Service was friendly but not consistant. Had to ask for Bread, Butter, Salt, Pepper refill on Tea etc..... I'd stick my head in and look at this historic restaurant then eat at the Ship's Tavern which has GREAT FOOD and Excellent Service - also in the Brown Palace.
I travel and dine out frequently. Dinner at the Palace Arms was among the best I have had in many months. The heirloom tomato salad was a delight to behold and bursting with flavor. I had forgotten how good real tomatoes can taste. The venison carpaccio and abalone appetizers were also extraordinary. I recommend the five-course tasting menu. At $70, it is well worth it.
I made a birthday dinner reservation for my wife and myself. Everyone on the staff that we had contact with gave her a birthday greeting. The Chef brought her a personal desert and the manager stopped by with a red rose and a complimentary desert to take home. We truly enjoyed a gourmet meal and the birthday dinner was perfect in every detail.
We have already told our family and people that we have visited with since the dinner that the Palace Arms is superb.
This was a perfect evening for a romantic dinner out. From the amazing wine list that the sommelier gracefully walked us through, to the delectable caesar salad prepared tableside, to the entrees made expertly, ending with amazing bananas foster prepared tableside, we enjoyed every moment. The bison was tender, and the lamb smooth. Be prepared to spend some money, but it was worth every penny.
We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary and really enjoyed the experience. We had never eaten at a restaurant like this before and it was fun to be pampered and fussed over. The staff was great and made us feel at home. It was a dining experience, not just dinner out.
Incredible place. I placed a request through open table to leave a rose on the table for my girlfriends birth. Not only did they honor this request but every member of the staff said happy birthday, and the head chef introduced himself along with answering all of our questions without us feeling guilty for taking up his time.
This was a great combination of excellent service and fantastic food. From the first bread basket (which had truly excellent choices) to the pork chops, everything was excellent. Well prepared, well presented & excellent taste. And the service was timely but un obtrusive. The only thing that I felt could be improved was the decor which felt outdated and dark.
One of the best meals my wife and I have had in our lives. The service was the best care I have ever experienced. There is attention to ever detail. From the time we dropped our car off with the valet to park till the time we came back out the door. Our car was waiting for us - the waiter must have told them we were about to finish our dinner.
My wife had the scallops and I had the bison, absolute perfection.
If you are looking for a meal on a special occasion where everything is perfect this is your place.
