PAIRINGS palate + plate
Our plates, which change based on seasonal availability, extend from gourmet to comfort. Each dish is prepared with ingredients strategically paired to intrigue and invigorate, to stimulate and satisfy; just-baked breads and desserts, freshly rolled pastas, slowly braised meats, à la minute sautéed seafood and churned daily ice creams, leave no palate untingled.

Bring Your Own Wine (BYOW)
Menu was diverse with each part of the course complimenting the whole. Service was just right. Only disappointment was the dessert menu. Overall dinner was very good albeit very expensive —
Elegant but yet casual restaurant with nice atmosphere and always delicious and fresh food.
We had a lovely time; the owners made us feel welcome; our server was very friendly; the food was very good; I would have preferred more choices for dessert..
Amazing service/hospitality would recommend to friends.
We have eaten here many times but not for over 1 year
They remembered that we used to
Come with friends
Service, as always , was excellent as was the food
Went for my mom's 97th birthday and they even provided a personal menu with a birthday wish! That's the kind of great service they provide. Food is always great. Certainly not inexpensive....but worth it
Great meal from start to finish, and excellent service.
I had high expectations since it is always recommended to me based on my dining history and because it has such high scores; however, if you are used to eating in Manhattan, you will not be impressed. There was absolutely nothing exceptional about this place, except the prices, which are astronomical. Thank Goodness we could bring our own wine.
The food was extraordinary! My gazpacho was out of this world and FRESH! Sirloin done perfectly, and the sides on the plate were seasoned so well. Finished our meal with a big hunk of raspberry cheesecake for dessert, and that was so creamy and delicious as well. Coffee was cold, but replaced happily. Service was 9 out of 10, just because we were not offered a refill on the delicious coffee.
Excellent food, not rushed, very enjoyable experience
Food is extremely fresh and incredibly delicious. The chef is truly talented . As for the ownership and staff, they treat you like royalty. What a gem in Cranford
The restaurant was great! The food, service, and ambience was perfect! The owners were very sweet and they thanked us over and over again for coming to their restaurant for our anniversary. Loved it!
Great evening with a group of 6. Excellent service and meals.
It was our first visit, the fruit flies wouldn't leave us , I lost two glasses of wine to fruit flies, apparently, they liked my wine, we killed seven of them, and when we told the waitress, she said she was sorry.
It was not a good experience, will not go back again
Pairings is always a favorite for my family!! We have a new situation with food allergies and Carol, the owner, could not have been more accommodating. We spoke to her upon arrival and a special meal was made. Can never go wrong at Pairings!!
Would like more comfortable chairs, and some round tables.
The owners host and executive chef are wonderful.
I’ll sum it up in 1 word. Fabulous
Another splendid meal at Pairings. We met friends who drove more than 35 (or so) minutes to get to Cranford; they're ready to do the drive during rush hour. That's how good the food, ambiance, parking convenience, welcome by hosts etc. are.
Excellent BYOB. When I'm here, I forget I am in a small town in NJ! Elegant establishment! Top shelf food! Excellent and friendly service.
What can I say, always a great meal know matter what you order.
Service outstanding the ambience is just right.
We try to go to Pairings at least once a month or more.
Very good but was surprised that the average entree is $40+. I suggest look at the menu beforehand so there are no surprises.
We were celebrating my birthday. We arrived early and were welcomed with a Happy Birthday and our choice of tables. The room was beautiful, the service great, and the food very fresh and delicious!
We will come again.
Very welcoming greeting from the host. Fantastic service. The waiter even brought me a special version of the menu with edits to comply with my dietary requirements. Food was so delicious. It was a little pricy but totally worth it for a special night. Would highly recommend
Delightful meal as always. My friends said they definitely will come back to try other items on the menu.
What a lovely restaurant! We had a late Mother's Day celebration here and it was wonderful.
This is a BYOB and we took advantage of it, bringing a special Trefethin winery Cabernet and
our daughter bought us a lovely white Albarino. We all ordered something different with each course, different appetizers, entrees (steak, duck, seafood), and desserts. All, all of them, looked wonderful and tasted even better. We truly enjoyed this meal, and plan to return soon.
Excellent! We will definitely go again! Food and service were both above our expectations!
The pork chop was so tender and delicious I couldn't believe it! I rarely bother with pork chops because they tend to be dry. I figured if it's coming from their kitchen it must be the best pork chop ever. it was! PAIRINGS is always a win. Carol and Vincent make it a very welcoming place. See you soon.
Perfectly prepared fresh food with outstanding service. Always a pleasure to dine with Carol and Vincent. We’ve been many times and have never been disappointed. We love dining there.
Overall food is good as there aren’t that many restaurants that have a similar offer around the area. We had the tuna tartar which was pretty good overall but not memorable. As main course I had the duck which was cooked perfectly but again missed the extra mile to make it great. Same for the pasta that my wife had. A pasta that costs over 30$ without seafood or meat needs to be homerun or at least include truffles. For dessert we had a chocolate mousse which was great. Net overall a solid restaurant, I probably would come back since food was very good but...value is a little off, I expect a bit more (not quantity) just more memorable flavors. BYOB is good option. The service is very good in general, although they only pour the wine once, so if you really care about this things do mention it as you arrive.
Food was expensive for what it was. It tasted good going down, but made me very sick.
The food is exceptional, every bite was a treat. My salmon was cooked to perfection and all the accompanying food had great balance of flavor. The atmosphere was sophisticated and has a fun vibe. Everyone at our table was thrilled with their food. I would highly recommend dinner at Pairings!
This restaurant charges A La Carte and is on the very expensive side. For what they charge I would expect a little bit more in a few different areas. First, while the main course of the sirloin was excellent, the duck was only ok, and actually the duck could have been a little better prepared. In addition, it should not have been served in a bowl, but in a dish. Also, a steak knife might have been helpful for the steak. For the money charged I was really surprised that the staff will not and does not pour the wine. I had a very fancy bottle of wine which was decanted into a glass milk bottle (ok?) but never once was any wine poured by the waiters. I have been to many BYOB upscale restaurants and all of them still pour the wine for the guests. This was unusual. Also, we were stuffed into an area not suitable for a table, where my back was up against the bar that jutted out into my seat, the chairs were not particularly comfortable, and my wife was out in the aisle, being annoyed everytime someone had to get by. Our other offered option for the two of us for a romantic dinner was right on top of a babyseat with baby attached! (not a better option). Also, it became increasingly hot int he restaurant and finally, the manager came and turned up the thermostat, but by that point everyone in the place was sweating! Appetizers were okay, but not imaginative. Overrall for the money, a lot of better options and I was disappointed as had a better experience last time I was there.
Pairings always delivers on great food and great service. You must stop by.
This was our first visit but it won't be our last! Everything was exceptional from the complimentary goat cheese and nut covered individual grapes to our entrees and dessert. The featured glazed pork chop with apples and fresh asparagus was wonderful; my husband also loved his steak and mashed potatoes. It was our anniversary, which I had mentioned in the Open Table reservation, and the restaurant gave us personalized menus with our anniversary listed on it and also wrote anniversary wishes in chocolate around the dessert plate. If you reserve on a Wednesday, for $44.00 a person you will receive a 4 course meal with a limited menu but still, some of the items we ordered, and some we want to try, are listed on that menu.
Everything was absolutely delightful, from greeting to customer service to food and finally to sendoff. I would return in a heartbeat and heartily recommend Pairings to anyone who values delicious food offered in step with outstanding service. The owners clearly care about their customers and their staff, and it shows!
Excellent food and service! Thank you.
Enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day brunch
Food was good although prices jacked up for Mothers Day. Service was non- existent. Food was just dropped off at the table without any verbal exchange.
Always delicious food and excellent service. Beautiful decor and very welcoming owners. Worth every penny.
Went there for Mother’s Day and will definitely be back. Service was excellent and food very tasty. Excellent atmosphere and we took our 7 month old there. Very kid friendly as well as server took our family pic. My wife and I plan to be back and will try dinner here as well.
