About PAIRINGS palate + plate
PAIRINGS, a family owned and operated restaurant, brings together globally inspired cooking, local and sustainable practices and the comfort of grandma's recipes. We welcome you into our dining room to slowdown, to disconnect from your electronic devices and to reconnect with family and friends over our food and your wine. Your dinner is leisurely paced as all of your meal is thoughtfully crafted for you.
Our plates, which change based on seasonal availability, extend from gourmet to comfort. Each dish is prepared with ingredients strategically paired to intrigue and invigorate, to stimulate and satisfy; just-baked breads and desserts, freshly rolled pastas, slowly braised meats, à la minute sautéed seafood and churned daily ice creams, leave no palate untingled.
Sit back. Relax. Sip. Rekindle. Dine. We welcome you into our house with open arms.

PAIRINGS palate + plate Ratings and Reviews
We are never disappointed when we dine at Pairings. We went to celebrate a combination Valentine's Day and anniversary. If they know ahead of time what you are celebrating they print a special menu for you with the occasion listed at the top. The food here is always perfect and the service is impeccable.
Although pricy it was worth every penny. I took my girlfriend there for Valentines day and she loved it. The food was spectacular and the waiters are always circulating to see if you need anything. I'll probably be coming back every Valentines Day because I know i'll be getting a bang for my buck.
Been here several times over the years. First time back in a year. The food is just sooo good. Server and support team were friendly and efficient. One pet peeve I've had was that their beautiful wood chairs were uncomfortable for a 2 hour meal. Well, they upholstered all the chair seats, and they are now super-comfy. Looking forward to my next meal.
We have been going to Pairings since they opened and have long been customers and friends of Carol Murphy and Vin Clyne since Clyne and Murphy was open in Westfield. They are true restauranteurs and wonderful people! Their love of food, wine (although this is a BYO which we love) and friendships is felt throughout Pairings and their staff share their enthusiasm. There is a lot of love that goes into a great restaurant and Pairings gives you the dining experience that you go out to dinner to get...
Love this restaurant! I have never had a bad or even average meal. The menu is seasonal so the ingredients are fresh. Always made to feel we are the most important diners in the place. Perfect place to meet friends as it is located 5 minutes off the parkway.
We happened to go on a Wednesday night which features a '$40' four-course prix fixe dinner menu. The menu online looked amazing. Unfortunately for us it was not the same at the restaurant. The amuse bouche was an odd 'shot' of bourbon, prosecco, juice and tasted a bit medicinal. The first course options were both rich and heavy in flavor. For the pasta course, unless you wanted cheese ravioli in a not-so-italian restaurant, there was a supplemental charge. The lobster and black pepper fettucine was a small mound of pasta with a small piece of lobster on top. It lacked sauce. and pepper. The entrees appeared to be good choices but again the best choices had a supplemental charge which we opted for. The short ribs tasted like pot roast and the fish was dry. The chicken, on the other hand, looked awesome and evidently tasted great. Desserts were not appealing but the chef put one together for us that was the highlight of the dinner.
Based on this experience, i would not return but others in my party said that the full menu is much better and we will likely give it another try.
My husband and I have been dining at Pairings for close to five years. Each experience has been categorically exceptional. The entrees, ambiance and overall comfort of Pairings exceeds any restaurant in Manhattan or elsewhere. You are immediately met with a sense of warmth and grace. The entrees are prepared with a delicateness that speaks to the atmosphere that Carol and Vincent create; clearly in collaboration with their culinary family. My palate looks forward to each new taste I experience with each delicious meal. Dining at Pairings is always special. Their site depicts an atmosphere where you will relax, sip, rekindle and dine. Pairings is truly a full-bodied, delicious, beautiful delight.
We attended their New Years dinner. The whole restaurant was set up with extra tables squeezed in to awkward areas and, with most of the restaurant empty, they sat us at the worst tables. When my husband requested to sit anywhere else, they made it very clear to him he was inconveniencing the
I called three days in advance to specify my husband’s allergies - when I originally booked the menu was not prix fixed (at least it wasn’t made known to me) and when I received their email that it was, I called to see if they could accommodate us. They spoke with the chef and she said it would be fine.
My husband is allergic to dairy, gluten and a few other specifics. I can’t drink alcohol, this was made clear. The amuse Bouche was half champagne mixed in, I had to spit it out and reminded the waiter I can’t consume that. My husband’s first dish was sprinkled with cheese. The head chef came out to apologize, and while she was there, since his meal was being redone and the food had already taken forever, he asked for something instead of the bread and butter that I was chowing down on. She said she had nothing. He asked for even raw vegetables. She said no. He pointed to the menu and said there’s clearly raw vegetables hanging around, she said she would check. I called her back when my steak was completely raw inside. I ordered it medium. She said that’s how she does it. She had attitude now. When my husband asked her where the vegetables were she raised her voice and said she tried and found nothing except crackers but realized he can’t eat them, in a snide voice. If he could eat them, we wouldn’t be in this conversation. I was later served a between course gelato. Yeah, it was loaded with alcohol. I made it clear to the server he can’t keep serving me food with alcohol and not telling me. My steak then returned. They made it “well done”. It was horrible, I could barely eat it.
Just very clear they do not take allergies seriously. And the attitude was the worst part.
First time visit - very impressed with welcoming environment, seating choice, very attentive service, and excellent food. Somewhat limited menu. A bit disappointed in limited choice of dessert on price-fix menu - ice cream choice didn't compare to excellence of other courses.
Great dining experience. The wait staff were professional and on point with the service. Nice setting for a romantic dinner or group dinner. The décor is modern and luxurious and the seats were very comfortable. We shared the octopus and pork belly for appetizer and the pork chop and salmon dish for our entrées and everything was cooked to perfection. The cost for entrées is a bit steep ($30-$44) but balances out since it is a BYOB. I'm looking forward to the next visit to try their other entrées. Loved this neighborhood gem!
