Painters' Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Went for my 31st birthday with 12 friends, food was excellent, service was extremely lacking and very rude. Would only return with small parties. They were well aware of our party, reservations were made well in advance and confirmed, arrived early. Very rude.
Great food! This was our second tome there. The first time we were unable to get a reservation but had apps at the bar. The second time we had a table and were so full from the fried mozzarella we could barely eat the dinner so we took it home. Food is delicious and great atmosphere!
Service very slow. Room in the back has hard metal chairs and it's very noisy. Lobster baked clams super salty. The rest of the food was good tho. Bathrooms men and women went out of order, had to use two other single bathrooms on other side of restaurant, they got disgusting in a hurry.
I normally go to Painters every few months and generally during the week. It is usually quite pleasant and you can carry on a conversation but last Saturday the music was over the top loud and you couldn’t even hear a word anyone said. We ate the prix fix menu. The first and second courses were good but the chocolate strudel was a joke. The serving was just enough for a bite and tasted like shoe leather. I usually like it there but this night was disappointing
They need to keep the music down in the second dining area so you can hear yourself think.
A very disappointing visit! Our table, for the second time, was in a terrible location as we repeatedly got bumped by passers. (Set in-between two tables.)
My husband's NY strip was over done, when it was ordered medium, it was charred. Our waitress forgot our drinks, 2x's and they left out the requested birthday candle for my husband's special dinner. I've been coming for years, but I will choose another restaurant in the future. So sad... was my favorite!
I have eaten at Painters several times, for lunch and dinner. Each time I have been surprised by the wonderful taste combinations offered by the chef. This time, I had the Restaurant week special: an appetizer of shrimp, which was well prepared with a sweetish sauce and the scallop with risotto, which was a little disappointing. While the scallops were well prepared, the risotto was very soupy... not what I expected...although it did taste good. I think next time, for me, a choice from the regular menu would have been better. My husband had the tuna taco appetizer which is fantastic and the chicken and rice dish which he said was terrific. Service is always attentive, and considering the large number of people who were dining, we really didn't wait long for anything.
Extremely crowded as it was Restaurant Week and was very busy . Had made a reservation and requested a quieter table as the main room can be very noisy with the bar crowd . Our hostess was quite miffed when we asked for a different table - the first one she led us too was right in the path of swinging staff doors , not very desirable. She wasn’t happy leading us to a second table- downside ...upside - great food .
The noisy atmosphere did not detract one bit from the attentive service and delicious food! We went with the prix fixe menu for Restaurant Week. We both started with the kale and quinoa salad with goat cheese, which was enhanced with toasted almond slivers, dried cranberries and Granny Smith apple slices, tossed in a light honey mustard vinaigrette. My brother went with the filet mignon, which he declared to be tender and cooked perfectly. My boneless short ribs in a red wine demi glace were so tender and delicious, I wish I could eat them every day! Dessert was a passable chocolate strudel. I highly recommend this place!
I saw mixed reviews but heard so much about it and Restaurant Week seemed like a good reason to check it out. Sorry to say we were disappointed with the service; the food was okay, but not worth the overpriced menu. If I were to try again, rather than have a full dinner or meal, I would go to see a band and have a drink and apps.
Normally I love Painters, and the food is always delicious. This time my boyfriend had an issue with his burger. He ordered it medium and it came out well well done. It was burnt on the outside. We sent it back and it came back 15min looking the same way. Nobody checked to see if the burger was better. He ended up taking 2 bites and still had to pay for the entire burger. This was upsetting because we normally always have a great experience at painters and good service.
Margaritas were delish!
Had the appetizer shrimp n lobster risotto is was amazing!
Only thing I don’t like about this place is that they refuse to substitute anything! I absolutely hate Brussels sprouts and asked for a different veggie option and they said the chef wouldn’t do that! Why?? I think that is ridiculous
This is my second time eating here. The place is a bit eclectic, and the food is great. I like the overall look of the restaurant and like that the tables are not so close together. We shared the lobster baked clams, ordered lobster club and the osso bucco?
The food was amazing! We were seated quickly. Service was slow and our waiter barely checked on us. But the food! Awemaze Ballz! They had a band there that night (Mean Machine). Awesome band! The DJ played good music in between sets. Danced the night away. Great night!
Food excellent as always. Desert the best service was slow at first. Got seated and waited a while to be approached for drinks and appetizers. Bus people and kitchen expiditers hanging around and fooling around in front of kitchen. Unprofessional. Otherwise an excellent choice for dining out
I took my wife in for an early dinner and date night. We started at the bar and worked our way to the table. Beer selection was impressive. Service was good and unobtrusive...timing was great. Prime rib was a bit salty but overall good. Tuna was cooked perfectly and accompanied with well paired sides.. sauce was a bit overpowering. Would definitely recommend and will be back to try some other items.
We were seated in a booth right next to a refrigerator, across from the kitchen and bussing area. I was almost hit in the head by a waiter lifting four glass jugs of water over my head, in order to get to the refrigerator. After we moved to a different table, I sat on a little chair that was the equivilant of cheap lawn furniture. The overall atmosphere was casual and noisy.
Our server was very nice, but our food was not hot when it came out. Cream of tomato soup with a skin on top was not very appealing to me.
My friend ordered a steak sandwich, which was tasty, but the bottom of the bun was completely charrded, black and rock hard. I ordered from the restaurant week, three course, price fixed menu. The desert did not look appetizing whatsoever, so I didn't even taste it. I would rate the food as mediocre at best. I don't think I would go back, unless it was just for a drink at the bar
