If your surroundings don't clue you in, your first glance at the menu will. Painted Pony is not your standard fare. Contemporary American cuisine evidently doesn't mean just another good steakhouse, and the simply written food descriptions promise something new and intriguing for your palate.
The Painted Pony has perfected the fine art of using fresh ingredients and delicate flavoring. An exceptional wine list, generous portions, attentive service, and reasonable prices will convince you to return to "the Pony" anytime you're in St. George.

Smaller groups can reserve the garden room for a small room charge.
Larger parties (up to 65 guests) can use the back half of the restaurant which would be closed off to the public.
Painted Pony was a great find. Wonderful food, attentive service, nice setting. A real find.
We live in LA but have a 2nd home in the Ledges and everytime we come to St. George we make it a point to go to the Painted Pony a few times. Alway bring friends that come from LA - when they return they ask to go back!
Best fine dinning in St. George. Great food, great service, great ambiance. My favorite.
A wonderful experience in an unique setting. The service was excellent and food was fantastic.
The numerous round tables are perfect for conversations with a group. I had the Special, an Apple/Brie Panini, and it was amazing! I love the atmosphere and The Painted Pony is one of my favorites in St. George.
Worthy of special occasions. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was a bit too fast which is not really a problem but we wanted to savour each course. We will be back with our daughters, one of them is a food blogger!
The food, ambience and service were excellent. Vegetarian selections were inventive and delicious. It is rare now that you can have a quiet conversation in a restaurant, but noise level in Painted Pony is quiet and a very relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely visit again on next time in St George.
It was our anniversary dinner. The server was professional, and our meals were outstanding. We started with appetizers and handcrafted cocktails, had one fish dish and one steak dish, and finished with desserts. Ambiance was delightful, music was light jazz.
The reviews were spot on!
As always, the Painted Pony was excellent as was our server, John.
We always dine at the Painted Pony when staying in St George. Love it, consistently good EVERYTIME.
Very nice evening from beginning to end for my husband's birthday.
The overall experience was great. It was our anniversary and the waiter noticed that the table close to us was a bit noisy. On his own, he showed us to a much quieter table. My filet was terrific, but my wife's pork chop was on the slightly tough side. The service and food presentation was fantastic. We'll be back!
Lovely meal beginning (Utah Pom Cosmo and Hole in One) to end. The beet salad was highly recommended in reviews and I totally agree. We also had the Fench oinion soup served in a hollowed out onion -- unique and tasty! Also thumbs up were the seared ahi tuna with panfried noodles and the grilled tenderloin steak with mushroom demi. Opted to switch out menu potatoes for the recommended "truffle ruffles." Good choice! Staff from welcoming hosts to busboys was friendly and mae for a quet and refind evening.
A very fun and yummy restaurant. It was pir first time there and it was a real treat !
Consistently very good food and service in a very nice environment. Highly recommended
This is a very popular, yet overpriced restaurant with a bizarre menu.
The service is good unless you run into problems (undercooked food, poor cut of meat).
There are better options in Saint George such as the Gun Barrel, Rib & Chop, Benja, the Egg & I, and many others.
Wedding Anniversary dinner. Wonderful and detailed menu recommendations from the waitstaff. Good service . Food hot. Water filled.
Rack of lamb delicious.
Delicious stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, coconut shrimp, bacon wrapped duck and pork chop. All delicious Great service. Beautiful setting
It was our third time and each one was perfect, they really made us feel welcome!
Relaxing, food was excellent and innovative, terrific service by Dominick.
My sister and I went to Painted Pony to celebrate our birthdays this year. The food was excellent! highly recommend the brew in fact everything was so good, it was hard to stop eating!! From the starters, appetizers to the salads, to the entrees, to the desserts - everything was excellent! A very Happy Birthday!!
The ambience and service were the best elements to our evening. We were surprised that the food was below par in regards to what we had read. The chicken was significantly overdone....so dry that I couldn’t finish it Nevertheless, we enjoyed a beautiful evening on a shaded patio
We were visiting Utah and came here for our anniversary dinner. The place was a little hard to find but I think I parked in the wrong parking lot. The service was great. They always came around and checked upon us. The food was excellent.
Both the ribeye and the proscuitto chicken were very good and cooked perfectly to order. One of the "better" restaurants open on Sundays. We were just passing thru that night and believe we made a great decision for dinner.
Return trip from 2 years ago. Food is still excellent. Wait staff is professional, attentive without being over bearing.
very quiet restaurant, food was pretty good, but salad was too wet. service is OK.
We had an amazing evening at The Painted Pony. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and the beet and goat cheese salad was not only delicious but a true piece of art. I would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend.
We celebrated my birthday with a quiet lunch at the Painted Pony. As usual we had great service, wonderful food and a great experience. Our server, Dominick was attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine choices. We enjoyed great salads, seafood and and sandwiches. We always enjoy dinning at this great restaurant.
Great experience. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys high quality dining.
Excellent find in St. George. Lunch was truly special. Service and food delightful. Highly recommend!
Our favorite of St. George. It never fails to provide the greatest food and service. This time we overstayed our time, too much talking and laughing with friends. Our wait person was so patient with us and never made us feel rushed. Dinner on the porch is always so delightful.
The quail appetizer was exquisite. Always enjoy the unique and tasteful dishes served. Also the capability to easily order gluten free options and helpfulness of wait staff.
Found this restaurant for dining before Theatre. It was Excellent. Would definitely go again if in the area.
This was a repeat visit, and I drove across four states to make it happen. Waiter John took excellent care of our table, the food was outstanding and beautifully plated. We were encouraged to take our time, and so we did, enjoying a fine meal at a relaxed pace. I can hardly wait until the next opportunity to visit The Painted Pony.
Actually we were disappointed. The sandwiches were very average and my Portabella mushroom sandwich didn't need lettuce and tomato; they made the sandwich fall apart and detracted from the mushroom flavor. The house salad was good. There was nothing out of the ordinary on the menu, as we had expected from visits in the past. It also took a long time to be served. The server apologized for the delay.
Excellent food and service! Every time we come to St George, we treat ourselves at the Painted Pony, and we are never disappointed. It’s one of our favorite restaurants ever.
Hanger steak should be server rare to medium rare. We asked for medium rare. First time it came out it was overcooked and pretty dry so we asked to have it redone. The next time it came out, it was bloody and chilled in the middle. They took it off the ticket and provided a slice of key lime pie but for that kind of error, I might expect the manager to come out and ask what could be done to make it right. They have a great reputation in town, but I wasn't impressed.
I have made made several trips to the Painted Pony in St. George, UT. It is always a wonderful experience. The ambiance, the warm greeting, the decor, service and location set it apart before you even open the menu. The owners and management of PP have created a menu that is enjoyable, varied and unique to their establishment, making each trip memorable. Find out for yourself. RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED.
Best food in St. George. I always dine here when visiting.
