If your surroundings don't clue you in, your first glance at the menu will. Painted Pony is not your standard fare. Contemporary American cuisine evidently doesn't mean just another good steakhouse, and the simply written food descriptions promise something new and intriguing for your palate.
The Painted Pony has perfected the fine art of using fresh ingredients and delicate flavoring. An exceptional wine list, generous portions, attentive service, and reasonable prices will convince you to return to "the Pony" anytime you're in St. George.
The service was rushed even though the server assured us it would be spaced.
Excellent dinner, wonderful staff and always a treat to eat here! Definitely a favorite restaurant of ours!
The food and service was excellent.
Loved every minute of being at the Painted Pony. We selected this restaurant for our 35th wedding anniversary night out. And we would go back each and every time, from our server, John, who was great, to the delicious and gorgeous quail appetizers, delightful wine, perfectly created dinner, it was a terrific evening! Perfect! Going back soon!
Had another great dinner at this delightful restaurant. The Brie appetizer was to die for, and the tenderloin really hit the spot. We will be back.
We visited the Painted Pony for lunch to celebrate the birthday of a good friend. We always take those we love to this restaurant for special events as we are never disappointed with the food or service. Brian provided the excellent service we've come to expect and the food was wonderful as always. Thank you to the very best staff around!
Excellent in all respects. Highly recommended.
This is the most enjoyable place in St George for lunch. The prices are quite reasonable also. It is made even more special by the hostess, Kimberly. She always treat me and my guests like we are special. You must keep her!!!
Great food, but the service was lacking. We had to wait for drinks, food, plate clearance , raw sugar for our Irish coffee and finally the bill. Our server was really trying but she had far too many tables to handle by her self. The restaurant needs to add more servers or additional help for the servers. I would have rated the restaurant higher, but the service really was not up to par for the food and ambience.
The Painted Pony is one of my new Favorite Places for Fine Dining. The service was exceptional and the food was beyond amazing along with creative and delicious! I would definitely suggest this place!
Imaginative, superb quality food, well presented. Service was above & beyond. Good wine list. Definitely worth going out of your way for!
We kept seeing Painted Pony when searching for restaurants and finally went on our last night. We were so glad we found it! Great food and service. We loved the atmosphere. Beet salad is a work of art. We enjoyed the quail, bacon-wrapped duck and bone-in pork chop. Cocktails on a Sunday in Utah made the night complete!
We go to the Painted Pony every time we are down in St George. The service is always great. The food quality is consistent. The French onion soup is delicious and a fun presentation. It’s my sons favorite menu item there. After dining there as much as we have, we’ve pretty much tasted the whole menu. It would be nice to see some new items on the menu. Also, some other seafood offerings other than the Ahi. Everything is pretty heavy. So with spring and summer ahead, it would be nice to lighten it up. Kellie is usually our server and she is professional, friendly and never disappoints with her service.
Great food! Great Service! I love the decor. It is always an enjoyable experience.
When in St. George or passing through St. George UT on I-15, the Painted Pony is the best restaurant in the region, hands down. One has to get to Salt Lake City (or perhaps Cedar City that hosts a theatre festival) to find anything comparable or perhaps slightly better (e.g., Tree Room in Sundance or Valter's Osteria Salt Lake). It is not fast food, and takes a bit longer because one must be seated (and typically, call ahead or use Open Table), but the food is the best in the region. If one is choosing between the Nevada restaurants on I-15 (e.g., Las Vegas) and Painted Pony, pick the Painted Pony. It is vegetarian friendly.
Wish menu was more extensive especially with additional seafood entres.
Excellent all around. Would highly recommend and will be back.
This was our first time and found everything to be outstanding. Service waz top notch. Food was great. Wine was a bit pricey but that is Utah for you. We will be back in the near future.
We made a reservation for 6 on a sunday... We got hungry earlier and they sat us earlier than our res...Food was good quality. I had a mix baby green salad with pecans blue cheese and vinaigrette. I had the bone in pork chop with a corn bread pudding and an infused pear with more cheese and nuts in the middle. The pork chop had a tomato relish...I loved the pear so much. Everything was delicious but that pear........My friend had the onion soup and the presentation was so nice. It was served in a hollowed onion and served on a bed of rock salt...We ended the meal with the creme brulee which was vanilla bean creme and it was divine...We both drank the moab IPA and it was wow, good. The service was impeccable and our server was named Eyan pronounced like Iyan...I hope I didn't mess that up...Anyway, you should not hesitate to make a Res at this restaurant..Worth it!
We will go back.
Would like more options on the menu. My husband didn't like most of the things offered.
Exceptional food and service
Painted Pony is a nice little treasure in downtown St. George! The food is beautiful, thoughtful, and well prepared. The service was just right and I look forward to my next visit!
We enjoyed a beautiful anniversary lunch at Painted Pony. Loved everything! Super great waiter and staff. I had written that it was our anniversary on the reservation and they all remembered that! They made our day very, very special! One of our most favorite restaurants! Perfect in every way!
Excellent service and atmosphere. The food was amazing. Perfect for a first date.
It was our wedding anniversary, and they provided a complimentary dessert. A perfect evening!
4 Raviolis for $28, give me a break. It is not the place it was 4 years ago.
We had a lovely lunch at the Painted Pony. The service and food were excellent. I had made a note on the reservation that the luncheon was in celebration of a birthday. There was nothing special done for the birthday. But it was still a lovely time.
Very nice place ,amazing food made to perfection ,Drew our server was awesome
I highly recommend ,they just need to fix the location on map
Bryce waiter attentive. Sour dough bread and olive oil fresh starter. Baked brie excellent but a meal in itself. Plenty for four people to share. Beet salad rich; wish it had more greens. Smoked quail, risotto, and creamed spinach all good. Ahi and us in noodles excellent. Drank so many wines by glass that I was able to upgrade to a bottle. Will return
We always dine at Painted Pony when we stay in St. George and have always had a great meal! We love the menu choices and service is tops.
I brought a friend to Painted Pony for a birthday lunch! Food was excellent, as usual! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and at the end she brought a lovely dessert in honor of my friend's birthday! I was very impressed and will continue to dine there often!
I dined with 2 other guests. One got pasta, one ordered steak, and I am a vegan who was delighted when the chef fixed a special vegan plate just for me. Each of us loved everything we ordered. John our waiter was warm and helpful when selecting our meals. Highly recommend.
Parking is a big issue. Delayed our arrival by 15 minutes.
slowest service. Good food. Took us 3 hours at lunch. 45 minutes just to take our order. Very unsatisfied with service. Have had wonderful service in the past. But this was ridiculous.
We were visiting family in St. George, Utah & wanted to take them out to dinner. They told us that Painted Pony was the best restaurant there & they were not kidding. We had a wonderful meal & fine service. I can personally recommend the brie small plate. It was delicious.
The Painted Pony is reliably year in and year out the best restaurant in St George. Over the years we’ve had most of the entries and never been unsatisfied. If one has the option of going there don’t pass it up.
My very favorite restaurant in all of St. George ❤️
