Every time we come to Turtle Bay we eat here and are never disappointed. This is a true fine-dining experience. The menu is varied, interesting, and the kitchen is flexible in adapting as desired. The staff is welcoming, professional, well-trained, and unintrusive. Special kudos to Jesus Vidales who is a very attentive and gracious host. We look forward to future visits to Hawaii and Turtle Bay and will absolutely be eating here again. Our only regret is that New Jersey is too far away.
Chef’s tasting menu was excellent,as were the regular menu items. Fish courses were balanced and complex utilizing local ingredients and flavors. The staff was great. Highly recommended.
Great service and food. Highly recommend
Nice ambiance, food was very good, had a server in training who was nice and doing well, but went MIA half to 2/3 of the way through our meal, so no one came by for a while. Not cheap to be sure, but a solid spot.
We went here to celebrate our 25th Anniversary and decided on the 5 course dinner with wine pairings. The food was abundant, fresh and delicious! Each course was paired perfectly with the wines - each wine was a complete compliment to the food choice. Our server Zara was wonderful and helpful too and even brought a beautiful extra dessert! We were stuffed and it was a magical night! The view was breathtaking too. We did start the evening early (6:15) and it was very quiet, but by the time we left around 8 or so it was more crowded and there were more families and the noise level increased. A wonderful anniversary dinner!
Started out very nice but then a large, loud party showed up. The food service slowed considerably while the restaurant was taking care of the large group and all other diners suffered. The party was very loud and disruptive and the evening was ruined. Our server was very good and apologetic but there was nothing he could do to save the evening. When paying inflated prices for the location and ambiance, I would expect a better atmosphere and behavior. Will not be returning.
The service and food was excellent. Definitely a fine dining experience.
Good food, great ambiance. Perfect date night!
The service was great but the kitchen had some problem with the soufflé. It took over an hour and came out. I have later than promised.
Best sunset I have ever seen! Wow!!!! All the pics are from the table we had our meal at.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Four course menu was okay, but overpriced in my opinion.
The food was excellent - the table side poke and Hawaii sea bass were two of the highlights.
We chose Pa ‘akai for our date night/ Birthday specifically because it had a tasting menu, and we had been here once before and really enjoyed it. We hired a sitter to come to the resort so we could dine and relax together. First, this is a lovely space that is quiet with a wonderful view of the ocean and surrounding property. Second, the service is good and you are not rushed. After we were seated we weren’t impressed with the evenings tasting menu, (I am sometimes finicky, not that it was bad). The manager stopped by to ask if we had any questions on wine or the menu, and after some questions he was more than happy to let us put together our own tasting menu with wines he paired for us. My husband was very impressed that this was a “working” manager, who spent time with patrons, was observed bussing a table, and helped staff as needed. Every single dish we chose was delicious, but the star of the night was the whole crispy fried fish. It was so flaky and moist, the presentation was artfully done, we enjoyed it very much. The wine pairings were spot on, my birthday was a real treat. This restaurant has been fantastic both times we have been here, we look forward to another visit when we get back to Turtle Bay.
Dined here for a couple of years and consistently excellent service and great food. Ambience is perfect, we were celebrating a vow renewal and were greeted with champagne. Staff is very knowledgeable with menu and preparations, wine pairings, etc.; awesome cocktail menu and will be back again.
We had an excellent experience at Pa'akai! We both are vegetarian and ordered the tofu. It was amazing! Yes, I know... tofu? AMAZING? Yes! I've had a lot of tofu and it was the best I've ever had. Beautiful view of the ocean and sunset. We were on our honeymoon and our waiter brought us a couple glasses of champagne to celebrate! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant!
Don’t sit outside with the feral cats.
Friendly and good service but to food quality has gone way down from prior experience. It started with stale bread and never recovered. Too bad... we used to really enjoy the food here.
We went here for dinner right after our intimate wedding ceremony. I spoke with the manager earlier in the day explaining that first and foremost I'm a celiac ( the most important) and second it was our wedding day. So when we got there, they actually had my husband and myself set up alone outside on the porch over looking the pool and ocean. It was like we were VIPs. They treated a so special. The waiter was so kind and aware of celiac disease. Between the waiter and the chef they were so very accommodating to all my dietary needs.
Where do I begin with the food... it was unbelievable! I ordered the catch of the day which was mahi-mahi. It was the most incredible dish I have ever had! Just perfect! My husband had the surf and turf. Which he throughly enjoyed as well.
Then to top off the evening the chef sent us out a gluten free passion fruit sorbet with berries. It was an EPIC ending to an EPIC Meal and an EPIC day.
Thanks for reading.
We ordered a bottle of wine at the bar while waiting for our table. We were seated very quickly however there was a considerable delay before our waiter came to greet us. My husband ordered the five course tasting menu. It took 30 minutes to get his first course! Then another 30 minutes to get the second. After another 30 minutes (90 minutes total now) we were out of wine and tired of waiting, so I tracked down the waiter and asked for our check. He said he was literally just bringing our food (my husbands third course and my ahi dinner) so we sat back down. He offered us complementary glasses of wine (since our wine was gone) which we accepted, but after sitting some more we decided not to wait any longer for the last two courses and asked for our check. Our waiter applied a 20% discount without us asking which I appreciated, but the check was still over $300. It is difficult to pay $300 when at that point all you feel is disappointment and frustration.
Great food, attentive service and wonderful ambiance as always!
The brussel sprouts are a must. So are the ribs and calamari for appetizers. The miso butterfish is the best ever!!! And the staff is attentive, polite, and friendly.
The spicy glazed tofu dish was delicious. The sauce over the veggies was incredible.
Neat ambiance, feels like you’re in an aquarium.
They cooked our caight fish beautifully and four ways. Spectacular presentation! Overpriced but stull worth it. Wonderful wine list also. Compliments to the chef!!!
Service was not great and food was mediocre. Super overpriced. Skip this one and eat at Roy's instead. It's right on the other side of the resort.
Would I pay to eat her again probably not good was okay but I’ve had better at Roy’s for half the price. The service was okay very slow even to get my check. This restaurant is small so I don’t use stand how busy you could be and that slow.
The service at the beginning of the meal was excellent. The wait staff came by the table frequently. Unfortunately once the dinner was served, the service started to wane. I would not hold this against them though as all of the staff were super friendly.
As for the food...the appetizers were delicious! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his mean but I found mine a tad bland.
The big attraction for this restaurant is its location. It is right on the water and watch surfers. Also, if you time your visit to coincide with sunset, you won’t be disappointed.
All in all I would recommend this restaurant.
Outstanding food beautifully presented. Extremely kid friendly despite the sophisticated atmosphere.
Live Aloha. It’s a feeling, not dust a phrase !
Nice atmosphere and view. Food wasn’t all too great, excepted better from a fancy place.
We enjoyed our dinner here very much. The views are beautiful, the food was great and the service was excellent.
Love Love Love
Everything was amazing food, service, and atmosphere
Thank you for amazing birthday dinner.
The service was great food was also great once they got it right. My wife and were celebrating or 20th anniversary, everyone wished us a happy anniversary and gave us some champagne to celebrate. We each ordered a steak and split a Caesar salad. The salad was great but our steaks were cook wrong. However they quickly took them back refutes new ones for us and apologized and even the manager came out to apologize. Then the comped our deserts.
We choose this restaurant for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a great table with a perfect view of the ocean at sunset. Dinner was fabulous! Highly recommend.
Great food and sad I discovered it on our last night in Oahu. I really enjoyed the poke and what we ate was probably the best in the area. Coming from San Francisco where you can good food anytime I really enjoyed the meal and service at Pa’akai.
The service was great! Ambiance very scenic and romantic. The food was great! I recommend Pa’akai Restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion.
I expected fine dining. The prices are fining dining. But the quality of food and service is not fine dining. It was a chain restaurant experience.
It was a great time here! It was a bit expensive, but not bad enough to break the bank and great to save for a special occasion! My friend and I went to try somewhere new, we did the 5 course menu and it was amazing! I don't eat seafood (texture and taste can be too overwhelming) but the chefs prepared it in a way that I loved it and ate all of it! Would definitely come back again
We went while on our honeymoon and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and it's service! From the minute we walked in we were welcomed, our server was friendly and amazing! She also gave excellent suggestions!
We were staying Turtle Bay resort and decided to have diner at Pa’akai. It is a fine dining restaurant and we both felt a little underdressed. It didn’t matter, the server was excellent and the food superb. I honestly can say it was the best meal I have ever eaten. The only down fall is we didn’t save room for dessert. I would highly recommend it, it is a little spendy so be prepared to dish out a couple hundred bucks for the meal.
The five course meal portions are very tiny but the reg entrée was good portions for fine dinning
