It was a great time here! It was a bit expensive, but not bad enough to break the bank and great to save for a special occasion! My friend and I went to try somewhere new, we did the 5 course menu and it was amazing! I don't eat seafood (texture and taste can be too overwhelming) but the chefs prepared it in a way that I loved it and ate all of it! Would definitely come back again

We were staying Turtle Bay resort and decided to have diner at Pa’akai. It is a fine dining restaurant and we both felt a little underdressed. It didn’t matter, the server was excellent and the food superb. I honestly can say it was the best meal I have ever eaten. The only down fall is we didn’t save room for dessert. I would highly recommend it, it is a little spendy so be prepared to dish out a couple hundred bucks for the meal.

Was excepting to be wow-ed, but the restaurant came up flat. When I ordered with a special request of well-done food, it did not come out as such. The restaurant was empty and waiters were just standing around when we arrived, and the decor seems very outdated. The chocolate souffle was great, but overall wouldn't eat there again and would not recommend.

The evening was wonderful. We got there just before sunset and the view was spectacular! The service was excellent and the food superb. We ended the evening with the best soufflé we've ever had. Our compliments the chef and staff.

There was absolutely nothing that went wrong at this restaurant. Went there to celebrate my once-in-a-lifetime 50th birthday with my family and they delivered...and then some. From the hostess to our fabulous waitress and bus boy, to Chuy the manager (he was Awesome!), we are so glad that Pa'akai was our first and only choice. Mahalo to the Pa'akai staff and especially Chuy the manager! Kudos!!! 1,000,000 stars!

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. The waiters were attentive but not intrusive. The menu and everything we tried were at a level beyond expected at Turtle Bay.

We were staying at Turtle Bay for two nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We live on Oahu. The table we had was really nice, but a little strange in that they had us facing the window overlooking the pool. Since it was 7 pm, the sun had already set so there was no other view since it was already dark. I felt uncomfortable with my back to the rest of the dining room and our waiter, Mike had to come around the table to talk to us and take our orders. The restaurant was pretty empty so the noise level was really low which made it easy for my husband and I to have a conversation. My husband ordered the fresh fish, a kampachi, which he said was excellent. I recently became a vegetarian. I ordered the tofu dish, which had really good reviews on yelp. However, I asked if it could be mild since I don’t like anything spicy and Mike said they can do it. I actually stated I would rather it be bland verses even a little spicy. So I was surprised that when I tried the dish, the tofu had a kick and was a little too spicy for me. I told Mike it was a little spicy, but okay. The saving grace was the other veggies under the tofu, they were excellent and the sauce on it was so delicious! I ate half and asked to box the leftovers. They also served some delicious rolls which I asked the bus boy if I could also box up and he said yes. The big turn off was when he cleared off our plates and was determined to clear it all off one time. He had to move the buns on the plate so he just picks up the rolls with his hands. I was flabbergasted! I know I am local, but it turned me off that he didn’t use a tongs or fork to move the rolls. My husband and I just looked at each other, surprised and we joked about how bad that was. If I didn’t see it, I would have never known that they think it’s okay to move food with your hands that God only knows what you touched before touching my leftovers. The next day before we checked out, I threw it away.

A well designed and executed meal was served to us, and the server's attention was just right; neither too attentive nor too indifferent. The menu selection was excellent, and the wine list was extensive, but I must complain that your wine list falls into one of the traps that is on my list of pet peeves, and that is you don't have any of the fruity wines such as the rhines or the reds such as valpolicella. The dessert was outstanding; my compliments to the chef, his staff, and all of the other support staff. I will eat there once more before I leave. Keep up the good work!

We were seated at the worst table in the restaurant against a wall facing another wall despite having a reservation. The entree menu was very limited. The mains was fine and the dishes we were served were good but not spectacular. At the end of the night the restaurant was being cleaned up around us and we tried to pay for our bill multiple times, we were constantly told to sit back down despite wanting to leave and pay our bill, yet they were just packing up around us and not serving us. Wouldn't expect this service from this type of restaurant and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Overall, a pretty nice place to dine if you're staying at Turtle Bay Resort. They were very kind and happy to accommodate our dietary concerns without any issues. It's a pretty restaurant and far nicer than the other main restaurant at their hotel. Outdoor seating is okay but if you get a few rowdy people down below the restaurant where they have live music performing, it can be a little loud. Worth trying if you're near by for sure.

Great except for the man at the bar with an exceptionally loud and foul mouth. There were parents dining with their children and he was quite rude.
We were there for our anniversary and quite relieved when he was ushered outsid with his equally loud date.

The food is pricey but the quality is great. I was there with my two teenagers of which one refuses to eat any dairy and the other is a hardcore vegan, yet, we've all had a wonderful meal. I will add that the service was excellent as well. Will certainly eat there again if in the area.

The food was the best of all. The service was a little slow at times. The physical setting was outstanding. Didn't like the table; had to put my feet on top of the base to sit closer. Cramped.
Water servers were a little overactive. Waitress could use their help more in other ways. I point these things out not to be overly critical but to assist continued improvement to the best restaurant on the North Shore and to match the excellence of your chef.

While staying near Turtle Bay, my family decided to have my mothers' birthday dinner here. To say we left disappointed is an understatement.

The Good: The busboys were great! Friendly, attentive, and the kind of service you expect from something called 'fine dining.' We remarked we wished they'd been the ones serving us.

The Bad: Mike our server was very disappointing. For one, he wasn't all that friendly and made all of us feel like we were in the way. To start the evening off we ordered a bottle of wine that they were out of (this is not a problem), the problem came when we weren't told for a good 20-25 min. He did try and find a substitute, which we turned down - not the problem, it was the timing and the waiting while watching all the tables around us get service, a table that came 30 mins after us ordered and get their appetizers before we could even order our 2nd choice wine! (Which took a while to get too).

The food: Disappointing. We'd heard raves about the food from a few people, but frankly, we found it subpar. I got the pan seared fish - the fish itself was astounding! Cooked well and done right. The coconut risotto was flavor-wise good. The risotto, however, was overcooked. The veggies with it were okay, but overall the dish was very bland. My parents both ordered the duck. The duck breast was overdone, and the confit was underdone. The puree they both liked, and it was good. The veggies were an edamame succotash which was good - also lacking flavor. I'd have suggested a little citrus, or even 1 or 2 turns of salt (I NEVER suggest adding salt I, in general, am not a huge fan of it).

We did get a nice little dessert for my mother's birthday, and it was good.

Overall, the service made us feel like we were not welcome and the fact that we only ordered main courses (hello! we waited 30 minutes to even ORDER or food) felt as though we were looked down on.

I would never go back here, and I'll never suggest it to anyone.
