Oz Restaurant and Bar
I brought my family here on Valentine’s Day, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well they handled the Valentines rush with small plates. The food was on time and very fresh.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Oz. The food is delicious, very creative and the portions are generous. We ordered the truffle mac and cheese, hush puppies and split the lamb pie, at the recommendation of our waiter (it was a great choice!). I've already recommended Oz to friends and plan to return again soon!
I was excited to try this restaurant because of its origins in Australia. I was very surprised that the menu had very little Australian food featured and what they had I would never eat (e.g., ..roo). I didn't really like my meal, chicken parm., but my friends seemed to enjoy their meals a lot. I am glad. I guess I am used to the more Americanized Australian spot, Outback. Not sure what I was expecting, but I didn't find it at Oz. The staff is very friendly though. :)
Service was awful. We had a group of 4 and all decided to go the bottomless brunch. The service on getting drinks was great, but we got two plates of food in an hour and 45 minutes. I guess this is how they make their money since you can only order one plate at a time. The plates were small and just came out extremely slow. It was very disappointing. I had three small plates total and was over trying to get food, so I just drank the mimosas. The food itself wasn’t that great. I had the avocado toast, which was pretty good, but not sure how you could mess that up. My second plate was the chicken and doughnut. The chicken tasted bland and the doughnut was hard. My third plate was the eggs Benedict which was probably my favorite dish. My boyfriend ordered the beignets and they came as 9 small square dough pieces. They were dry and hard. Just disappointing. We will not be returning.
Unfortunately, Brunch is not what you would expect from Oz. Happy hour is a better option here. The breakfast food was already prepared before the shift starts. The eggs are liquid eggs instead of fresh cracked eggs. A DJ was spinning at 1:00 in the afternoon (why?). If you order ala carte, be prepared for the main course to be potatoes instead of protein.
The food comes out quick because it is already prepared. Based on my experience with dinner, happy hours and related, I was very surprised Brunch was this bad.
Loved this little spot! Was not crowded at all and the service was so good. We dined for brunch on a Saturday and enjoyed our time. The food is very reasonably priced and though we didn’t do the bottomless option— it was very tempting!!
The food was just okay. I expected more for the price.
Lunch menu was wonderful and variety of menu as well. I would recommend it to others
My husband and I absolutely enjoyed eating at Oz. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and we enjoyed the pancakes, avocado toast, beetroot, etc. that we had!
Went for all you can eat brunch, the food was delivered slowly and to the wrong tables constantly.
The restaurant and the service was great a little slow at first but it was all worth it and it was nice that the host read my request without telling her she moved us to a half a booth great service
Great food, but, despite making a booking on Open Table, the Maitre D seemed intent on keeping us out of the restaurant area and put us in the "bar" area. That's what I thought was offered on OT, and there were tables there, but she did everything to keep us out of that space, at first trying to seat us at an uncomfortable squeezed table in a weird non-space near the entrance. Not what we were looking for.
This restaurant would be so much better if their "Australian" desserts were made as they truly should be. Pavlova is a wonderful dessert-- but you are serving a very hard merengue which is not at all like Pavlova. Lamingtons are also very different from what you're serving. I think if you actually served the real thing- it would make your restaurant much more enjoyable. The pies and pint special on Australia day--fun idea! The desserts, however, were disappointing.
Oz had great food and service was really good, but as a side note I found it a bit weird that most of the staff didn’t seem to know it was Australia Day (which is why we had gone there in the first place), or that there were food specials on for it, when it’s an Australian restaurant. But other than that, is definitely go there again.
The place has good food and service. I wasn't a fan of the live DJ set. Way too loud.
The service and vibe were excellent, but the food was bland, and not savory at all. My friend did order drinks and she was happy with the quality. I'd recommend going for drinks but not for the food.
The kangaroo burger and the ice cream sandwich dessert was not delicious, but the whole experience was worth it.
I went for Restaurant Week and frankly wasn't all that impressed. It wasn't bad, but isn't worth the money you could have spent elsewhere!
Food was horrible but our server Zach was amazing.
We were given very few seating options despite having a reservation due to at least one large group there that night and many tables were pushed together. None was ideal and for some privacy and hopefully less noise we sat at the one free table closest to the entrance which meant we got the draft every time someone came in that cold evening. I felt like we were getting less attention perhaps because we were there for restaurant week but honestly we never would have known about the restaurant without it. My boyfriend was excited to try it as his family hails from Australia but besides some of the menu and drink items and the flag near the door there was no other indication that the theme was Australia.
I had even more limited choice of menu options due to my peanut allergy (I was told not to eat anything that was fried). The food was good and the portions were generous.
It was very loud and it took a while for our server to come take our drink and meal order
Dinner with friends. We all enjoyed our food. The truffle Mac, shrimp, tuna tartare... Yum.
Will be going back. Get the Brisbane cocktail... It's done well if you like bourbon.
Awful brunch experience. My group didn’t get seated until 30 minutes after our reservation then moved again per my request, because we were seated right next to the restrooms (so close I could smell the air freshener) and the table could only fit three but we were four guests.
After waiting 15 min to get our second table, we sat waiting for someone to take our order. After 20 minutes at the new table, we ended up all leaving. No idea how the food is but the ambience and service was a big disappointment. Doubt that I will try it again even though I live blocks away and have been trying to find the time to visit Oz.
The hostess was the only one that was trying to run the restaurant, she gets credit for trying to get things moving! The wait staff get zero credit! Don’t recommend going if you like to be seated on time!
The food and service was excellent!!! There was some confusion with our small plates (wrong table) but they were busy so it's understandable. I would go back frequently for the food alone.
Food was ok. But the service was incredibly slow!
Family gathering in honor of our mother scheduled for interment at Arlington National Cemetery on 17 Jan at 1500
Best feature was unlimited small plates but whole table needs to order that option to get it. Kangaroo burger was very good.
Sadly, our visit to Oz did not hit the mark on any level. The music was too loud, the service was sooooo slow, and the food was awful. Crap for what we paid. What an opportunity in this part of Arlington and it is a total fail.
Awesome place! A must go! Great food, service and atmosphere! We will be back very soon!
Very attentive and friendly staff. Awesome experience.
We had a great experience from the moment we walked in. We were greeted at the door, seated promptly and given an explanation of the menu as this was our first visit. Neat selection of some traditional foods. Great service and fun to try some new foods.
Great brunch spot in Arlington. The unlimited small plates and mimosas are a great deal. I’m always surprised at how quickly the food comes out. Servers are always friendly and attentive. There’s usually live music on sundays.
Great food and attentive staff. There is a wide variety of choices and sharing is encouraged.
Oz provided excellent service during my visit. I strongly recommend ordering from the small plates as a table. It allows everyone the ability to taste as many items as desired.
The food was just ok. A lot of my dishes came out cold or just luke warm. The waitress was not the friendliest and she acted like she didn't want to be there to help anyone. She never asked if I wanted my drink refilled and she really never made eye contact to us. My aunt who was woth me told her she was allergic to fruit and tomatoes and asked her to omit them from her meal, but she still had it on her dishes. I brought my aunt there because she lives in San Antonio and she wanted to go because she watches RHOP and wanted to meet Ashely if she was there. Well Ashley was there and we asked the manager if she could meet her because she came all the way from Texas just to eat there and the manager said she was to busy to meet her.
Overall very good. Went on a Monday at 6 so very quiet, only one other group in there. The specialty food was very good. The normal everyday kind of stuff, like chicken parm, was so so. Highly recommend as a novelty, just stick to the more unique plates. The $36 unlimited plate meal was a little over priced for the amount we ate, but i guess that depends on how much you can eat. The little plates with that deal either come with a ton of food, the pork belly was large and came with tons of rice as if it were a meal on its own, or they come with almost nothing, the shrimp plate was just four small shrimp in a bowl. The best thing we had wasn’t in the unlimited food deal, the slider sampler with exotic meats. They were out of the camel when we were there but the rest was really good. Would recommend for a fun, unique dinner if it’s not out of your price range. Happy hour is actually really good with many options and great prices, and it ends at 7 which is very late for a happy hour. Haven’t tried it for the night life but I hear it is really good there.
Tried so hard to be different that the food was missing classic flavor .
Food was great but the server (dude with dreadlocks) we had was super slow. Every time he came by he was never prepared. He was always forgetting his pen and note pad. He was more worried about flirting with the hostess. He was glued to the hostess stand. Giving her back messages event time he walked by her. Inappropriate.
I’ve been here a couple of times. I always get the chicken and waffle with no syrup and whip cream. He told me that he wasn’t able to do that. Although every time I come there I always get the same thing. His waiting style if definitely not for OZ. I expect better service specially for the price.
Slow service, mediocre food, but fun environment and concept
All around terrible. I do not recommend in the least.
