Took my girlfriend out for a date night after seeing all the great reviews for this place we decided to try it. Was totally worth it. Best meal either of us has had in NEPA. We had 5 star service. Michael greeted as we walked in and treated us like family very thorough and tremendous personality. We had another waitress who was also very helpful. Then to top it all off the owner came over when my girlfriend had to go to the bathroom and took her plate to keep it warm while she was gone. Absolutely incredible service. Best I’ve ever had hands down. Food was amazing too. Would recommend it to everyone. Definitely will go back
Celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. From the time we walked in we felt like we were the only people there. we had someone there for whatever we wanted. The waiter made suggestions from the menu which were fantastic. Food, atmosphere, waiting staff were all great!! How had wonderful night.
We were there for a pre-concert at the Kirby Center meal . It's in a Best Western within close walking distance to the venue with easy parking also nearby. The bar and bartender were fabulous, generous and well made drinks with fresh and diverse ingredients, think lots of fresh mint in our mojito and a really interesting botanical gin martini. The restaurant was very noisy and became quickly crowded as the concert time neared. I mention this because the only flaw in the evening was the overworked and underprepared staff. The food was excellent but given this was the night of a concert, they should have had more people serving. The folks there were as attentive as they could be but we had to ask several times for them to come back to our table. I would definitely go there again but would suggest management be more proactive in keeping the place fully staffed.
The staff was rude to new clients. Salad did not have ingredients listed on menu. When I asked for bread the waitress said she had to check they said I could not have bread. They offer cold pizza as an appetizer that was awful. The steak au poive was doused in pepper balls. Just awful
Had the calamari for a appetizer and a tuna tempura roll the calamari was good the roll was all rice don't order. Main course was scallops which was good but very salty drank water all night mouth was so dry, wife had the chicken Marsala which had no taste the waiter was very nice,but I think you could find a much better place to have a nice dinner than here. I came here because of trip advisor
My boyfriend and I order one meal to share (I wasn't hungry). First came the complimentary cold plate pizza - it was kind of weird, tasted like cold pizza with an average grated cheese on top. BF ordered Spicy Sushi Tuna Tempura Roll which he liked a lot. We shared the Menage et Trois (filet with lobster and scallops) with citrus salad, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Everything was delicious. Michael was a very attentive waiter and made sure we were satisfied the entire time. If we were in Wilkes-Barre again, we may go back.
We were seated early for a pre-concert dinner . We were greeted warmly by our server, Michael . He inquired if we would like to begin with cocktails and was made aware that my wife could only drink sugar-free, decaffeinated beverages and could not consume carbohydrates. He sent his mentee for the herbal tea box. My wife made her selection and I placed my drink order, Michael took it upon himself to brew a carafe of the tea, ice it, and bring it to table with an extra glass of ice. When he brought my cocktail, he also brought a second carafe of tea for her to enjoy. An Amuse Bouche of a garlic and cheese flat bread was brought to the table. When Michael realized that a plate was also presented to my wife, he whisked it away and brought her a goblet of fresh melon instead. A wonderful gesture on his part and greatly appreciated! I ordered the Wedge Salad which was drizzled with an olive oil and vinegar dressing, garnished with crisp lardons of bacon, tomato concasse and bleu cheese crumbles. Delicious! My wife's lobster bisque was equally delightful! The tomato forward potage, velvety rich with lobster essence and a swirl of crème fraiche, had large chunks of lobster meat and was fished with a dusting of Old Bay. I selected the 10 ounce filet au poivre with brandy peppercorn sauce. The dish was done to temperature and served with steak frites and a vegetable mélange of sautéed asperge, baby spinach and summer squash. My wife's entrée, the ménage a trois, consisted of a butterflied 10 ounce filet, a butter poached lobster tail and sea scallops with drawn scampi butter and a side of the vegetable mélange, as well as an enormous side house salad . I could not resist Pastry Chef Diane Demarco's Chocolate Decadence! A Triple layer chocolate cake with dark chocolate shell and white chocolate drizzle. Sinfully good with a cup of brewed coffee! Kudo's to our server, Michael! His warm personality and accommodating ways made us feel as if we were dining in his home!
We made a reservation and we were seated promptly. Very upscale, but my fiancé is allergic to eggplant. The waiter was very honest and said there was eggplant all over the kitchen. We could not take that chance. We were glad for the honesty of our waiter. No hard feelings on our end.
Drinks were okay, but moderately priced. The app Calamari saute was superb. Cold pizza served in lieu of bread showed a lack of class. My son's steak was crispy on the outside and soggy on the inside. My rigatoni and my husband's chicken parmesan were ok. Food was reasonably priced but not exceptional. Service was excellent. Decor and ambience looked tired. Overall a pleasant experience
We have dined at Oyster before and always had the same server who we came to adore. We were dissapointed to learn that he was no longer there but no worries our new server was equally as attentive. I say this only because the food was and still is AMAZING! We have never been less than amazed by the fact that they always get it right! Best Filet anywhere! I usually choose the Cheesesteak filet and I did again and it was butter tender and cooked to perfection. My husband went with the wasabi encrusted filet and WELL........he has no words to describe how good it was. We can't wait to return!
Food was decent, but as others have noted, service was slow and the atmosphere was bizarre. The reddish/pink lightning was odd, and the lacy curtains throughout the place gave it a hazy vibe. The drink menu is robust but has almost too many choices. The food menu is laid out strangely, and needs updating.
Food is average. Wait staff is very friendly but service is slow. Deserts were very good, best part of our meals. Appetizer was forgotten but they comped our Deserts to make up for it. Nice selection of cocktails. Overall a unique atmosphere in a good location near the theater. If you are not in a rush and looking for a good but not great meal with very friendly service that seems to go out of their way to make things right it's worth trying at least once.
The place was very old and outdated...you can see the attempt of an upscale atmosphere but its just cheesy...the service was not great it took about 20 min for someone to come to our table...the waitress was ok....they served dried up pizza bites as some type of an on the house appetizer and for some reason they had this huge oversized pepper grinder it was very obnoxious. The food was just ok...overall this place was very strange....the bartender was very friendly.
Weekend getaway/date night! Interesting restaurant located inside the Best Western in Wilkes Barre. The ambience is a little dated, with neon red lights. But besides the interesting decor, the food was outstanding!! Our waiter, Michael was very friendly and attentive! He kept us laughing and entertained throughout our meal. We each ordered the surf and turf. The filet was 10 ounces and seasoned perfectly, we both had ours medium rare and it was cooked perfect. The lobster was very flavorful, we opted for the "butter wash" and I highly recommend it. The mashed potatoes were very good with chunks of potato, just the way I like them! Unfortunately, we did not save room for dessert but we had a great time and left full and happy!
The ambience is very nice once you get past the hotel front lobby. The menu has very nice choices. The tomato sauce is excellent and the pasta perfectly cooked. The meatballs are very tasty.
My wife's chicken parm was tasty but a little tough.
The waitress on her first day had no clue how to open a bottle of wine.
The apple desert was so loaded with cinnamon that we had to return it. The head waiter actually disagreed with us but thought is was overloaded with walnuts. Either case, it was inedible.
This was our second time there. Not sure if we'll return.
The restaurant did not have a waiter the bartender was filling in as a waitress. The bar was in another room so the bartender had to work between the two rooms and kitchen. It was probable no surprise that our salads did not come out until after our main course was served. The food was very good we both ordered lobster tails and salads but a restaurant should always have a waiter during dinner hours.
When I try to get a reservation they said they were booked and nothing after 530 or before 830.so I made a reservation for 530 called to see if I could change it and they gave me 715.meanwhile I get there and there's no one in the restaurant and everybody keeps saying how it's going to be so busy and every five minutes they have a table coming in. only four tables came in the entire time I was there, yet they would t take my reservation for the time I wanted! Steak was tough lobster tail was good salad was awful all iceberg lettuce and very tiny.....worst salad ever. Mussels were good and the sauce they come in. They give you little pizza squares for bread and their ice cold....cheese not even melted. Server was nice but talked too much. I wouldn't go back.
Delicious food and beverages. Romantic atmosphere. Great service (Michael and bartender). First time in and we'll absolutely be back! We were in town to see The Maverick's Concert at the Kirby Center. Thanks for making our special date - special! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we hope to be back sooner than later, although we live quite a distance away. Highly recommend, and I'm not easy to please. Located in the Best Western hotel the dining room has a striking format with curtains hung and tied from the ceiling to divide the room . Place was empty (3 tables occupied) but stood waiting for someone to seat us. Waiter (Michael) was excellent - took us thru the menu and other offerings - even telling us the price of the specials without having to be prompted. The appetizers as advertised were the highlight - mussels ( 2 dozen) in a great red sauce - ask for a spoon to enjoy the juice and filet meatballs (2) - oversized and perfect meat and red gravy. Both could easily be enjoyed by two people. Entrees arrived a little too soon and were warm. Eggplant w/o breading and cheese sounded good but the eggplant texture was uneven - too hard and too soft within the pieces. The pork chop Tony Luke was tasty and done just right - the cheese topping was there but could of used some additional seasoning. Overall, better than average but not outstanding.
