Oyster Club Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food, great service. We were seated about 20 minutes late due to a table not leaving on time, so we were apologized to profusely and provided complimentary (amazing!) mussels. Oysters were fresh and delicious, and the tagliatelle was amazing. Would absolutely return!
The fresh oysters are delicious, and there is a lot more to come here for. The chefs really care about every dish, and craft it with great love. The menu is created fresh every day, depending on what is available locally and seasonally. Interesting flavor combinations, like the homemade rhubarb and hibiscus ice cream. The pasta here is also all made in their kitchen.
Everything was cooked to perfection. The fish was wonderful, not overcooked. The asparagus that was in the lobster pasta dish added a nice crunchiness.
The service was surprised, friendly and helpful, but not hovering.
I went last Sunday for my friends' birthday! It was just the two of us, and it was surprisingly quiet for Sunday brunch. I got the fluke bagel, she got the salad on the menu that day, and we split the home fries. We also both got a bloody mary. The food was excellent, the ambiance of the Oyster Club is lovely, and our server was fantastic. Would definitely come back again! Just wish they had more vegetarian options, but overall was very satisfied.
I decided to surprise my husband for our first year anniversary to first of all try oysters for the first time and also great food. We love trying new places and honestly the service was great and the food even more amazing. My husband loved his NY strip with bulgogi sauce. Too delicious! Definitely recommend.
It's hard to know where to start in singing the praises of the Oyster Club, which we have frequented over the last several years during our stays in the Mystic area on the way to Cape Cod. The oysters are the freshest of the fresh, the New York strip steak is perhaps the finest piece of beef on the East Coast, worthy of the finest NY steak house, and the service is unfailingly friendly and competent. Add great bread, an interesting and fairly price wine list and a lovely room that has an agreeable buzz but is never noisy, and you're on to a transcendental dining experience. The bar is charming and cozy, and - as is obvious on any given night - is a well-deserved favorite of locals. And then there's the intangible: the Oyster Club emanates soul and goodwill, the source of this being its enlightened owner(s) and carefully selected wait and managerial staff. Can't wait to return! (Note: The Oyster Club is not to be confused with S&P Oyster House, also in Mystic, also a nice place, but not of the Oyster Club’s caliber.)
So worth the drive/sail to go to this relative ( a couple of years) newcomer in Mystic,CT; since April we have dined here 5 times (we did have reason to be up here, gladly after finding here), but this time I booked through O.T. so I could write an enthusiastic review!
It is just a wonderful combination of THE best local oysters, and a tight, well-focused menu given extremely careful thought; all is local (no lip service, it is LOCAL) and terrific tasting ingredients; there is a great bar area needing no reservations (otherwise you better book well in advance, especially weekends;staff so accomodating and informative; the dining area warm, panel walls that remind you of well, a club! It's just great, please enjoy a wonderful evening here! (lower key outside with light menu in summer is top side and called the Treehouse!)
Our server Drew was outstanding! She didn't miss a beat and the food was excellent too! The bartender made a mean manhattan and the pork chop was huge! The flavor combinations were unique and tasty. Overall great meal! Our table was a bit dark because we were not under the light bars like the other tables and we felt like we could have sat a bit further from the neighboring table... our chief complaint was that the desert menu was nearly irresistible! Curses!
The Oyster Club is quite quaint and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. Appetizers were good and service started off well as well, however it took 45-60 minutes to receive our entrees, which came to us cold. Our server (Nicole I believe) was surprised our meal was cold, however did not offer to have it prepared again. During the time we were waiting, our waitress did not come over to let us know what the status was on our meal and passed our table on several occasions without addressing us while stopping by every other table. My partner and I were looking forward to the meal and unfortunately could not enjoy it due to the temperature of the food and poor service towards the middle of our experience. We would not return here for dinner unfortunately.
We do not live in the area but this was our 3rd visit to the Oyster Club and yet again it did not disappoint. In CT for a holiday weekend getaway with a group of friends we all drove about 1/2 hour on my insistence we eat there again! From the drinks and oysters at happy hour to our dinner later with a party of 6 everything was extraordinary. The ambiance and service are both welcoming and warm and the food was out of this world! The staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating of a few dietary restrictions without a hint of annoyance. Everything was perfectly cooked, creatively prepared and most importantly completely delicious. We all ordered different dishes and were thrilled to be able to share one fantastic taste after another! Even the desserts were all a big hit!
Portions were extremely small (I am not typically a big eater). Food was fresh and quite tasty though. The bread was out of this world, so we ate every morsel of it. The drinks were also somewhat scant in amount. We had a lovely server who was very accommodating. She was genuinely helpful in guiding our meal choices and immediately turned off the A/C that was suddenly blowing directly on us as dinner was served. Very lively, albeit noisy dining room.
Stopped in Mystic on our way to a wedding in Maine and so glad we did, our dinner was inventive and delicious . My husband's oyster selection was rIght on., the kitchen split a house salad which included fresh lettuces, radishes and walnuts. Farm to table main courses were also beyond the norm; the presentation and the creativity of both the porgie and pork were much appreciated. Our waiter was helpful, honest and clearly enjoyed his work.
We've eaten oysters here during Happy Hour many times but never tried the restaurant. It was excellent. The menu is not huge but very creative, many of the ingredients are from local sources. The mussel appetizer steamed in a coconut milk sauce was fabulous. The restaurant is small and cozy with a casual decor, the noise level was low, the wait staff very helpful and friendly.
