Oxford Exchange Ratings and Reviews
Always busy when we come to try to make a reservation if you can- especially if youre coming in your lunch break. I've had to go back to work and return because the wait was so long. The food is good but it's usually very loud and if you sit outside in the atrium bring your sunglasses.
Our flat bread was tasty but burned around the edges. My side salad was uninspired with mostly lettuce, some pine nuts and a few grilled grape tomatoes. Most disappointing was my hot tea which became tepid and lost its flavor almost immediately and was stone cold for the second cup because the teapot quickly lost its heat. I suspect that the pot was not hotted prior to pouring in the water.
We ate on the veranda, A most chilly luncheon for us, for the AC blasted out of the vents on a very chilly day. Uncomfortable bordering of miserable.
It was hard for me to rate our experience as "good," but I did it in deference to the pleasantness of the server and the overall vibe of the place.
I love the Oxford Exchange, however I was surprising my partner with one of my favorite places and the service was severely lacking. I made prior reservations and were seated promptly, however after 15 min of being sat we still had not been visited by our waiter. After the 15 min my partner went back up to the front to tell them the situation. They assured him that they would be over shortly. Another 8 mins went by before our waiter decided to make an appearance. The remainder of our dining did go smoothly, but I was embarrassed that was the first experience my partner had with the Oxford Exchange.
A bit of a wait for seating even with reservation but worth it for a most excellent lunch. Although very busy, our server made sure we were out the door in time for a matinee we were attending. Food quality was excellent with very flavorful and interesting choices. We greatly enjoyed the fish tacos and the chopped salad along with the sweet potato fries. Also enjoyed 2 rather small bloody marys with large prices. Overall an excellent meal.
My mom had heard of this place as one of the oldest restaurants in Tampa, although I do not think that is correct. The place looked VERY new. The dining room was beautiful, light and airy, very open, which made it very VERY loud.
We came Saturday for brunch which required a reservation. Come early, as parking is impossible unless you want to pay an extra $10 to park across the street, which we ended up doing. Personally I feel that is complete BS. We paid over $80 for brunch, with zero alcohol for two... PLUS parking?!?
The Saturday brunch menu is condensed from the weekday menu. We ordered the small plates: fried avocado, smoked salmon, fried brussel sprouts and lobster sliders.
Starting with the lobster sliders, it was decent. Not Maine lobster, so taste wise it may have well just been shrimp. Honestly the best part of the slider was the bacon.
The smoked salmon was good, very nice flavor but nothing I couldn’t do in my smoker at home.
The fried brussel sprouts were good, we both liked the cheese on top. The Meyer Lemon vinaigrette was nothing to write home about and the sprouts themselves tasted a bit burnt.
The fried avocado was a complete waste of time. I would never order that again. It was very bland, even with a sqeeeze of lime on the top. Perhaps mixing a bit of lime zest and seasoning into the bread crumbs would help that dish along?
At the end of the day the shining star was our server. Very attentive, knowledgeable, personable and professional, honestly the only reason I would see to go back - although I will not.
The meal was vastly overpriced, I could not hear a word my mother was saying and at the end of it all, I just felt like I had paid for the “experience” which was not even remotely worth it.
Service was poor and food mediocre. Drinks delivered by expediter and they took 3 times as long to come to the table as the food!!! We were there for breakfast and it took so long for a regular coffee we almost got up and left. Server spent so much time at a table with what appeared to be his friends and totally ignored us. Was attentive when time came for check. A member of our party saw him whispering to a fellow server then they both looked at our table and laughed. Very disappointed. First and last visit for breakfast. Have always really enjoyed lunch. Parking was a disaster. Finally paid $10 to park for max 2 hours! Ugh!
I brought my children here for afternoon tea in preparation for “tea with Santa” which they are offering this season. I have gone to plenty of high teas overseas and this one was extremely extremely disappointing. I have a 1 year old. They sat me on a fountain... I have a 9 year old who has been to many teas as well and he didn’t even want to eat half the stuff on the plate. We got a kids tea and a champagne tea. Server didn’t get food out on time. Water was empty. The atrium is kind of humid. Scones were gingerbread with no alternative. Hard as rocks. Literally cannot split to butter. Sweet cream was old and hard, Tab was almost 50$ for one cuppa and a hard scone. No thanks. Tea was weak. Beautiful building inside, just doesn’t live up.
Went to Oxford Exchange while in Tampa on vacation after a recommendation from a friend. It was an absolutely delightful experience. Food portions were great, and the ambience for a Sunday Brunch was great.
Parking can be a bit difficult on a Sunday morning, but the church across the street offers $10 parking.
Excellent brunch, service and ambiance. The Oxford Exchange is a wonderful place to enjoy a good meal with family or friends.
The interior is a retreat into a very pleasant setting, though on the noisy side. One of the dining rooms is bright and inviting, with a pool in the center of the atrium.
The food is plentiful and very good. Service exceptional and prices fair.
Will defiantly return.
We were disappointed with service and quality of food. The patio ambiance is lovely, but the food was not, which is a shame since we've been at OE several times and every time we come back we are more disappointed. The side potatoes on the eggs benedictine were greasy and extra salty. I had to send back my eggs because they were cold, and the french toast we order had no egg batter. It basically was an over-buttered grilled cinnamon roll toast. Awful and borderline burnt. Server was on the edge on being rude, late on checking back on what we needed, and late in removing finished plates. I honestly do not know if we will be back. I certainly will give other similar venues a try before our next attempt.
This was our second of what will certainly be many visits to Oxford Exchange. From our entrance to our departure, everything was spot on. Great service. Great food. Noisy, but in a good way...no raucous shouting or overbearing television...just patrons enjoying themselves. Kudos to our server, Killian, who went all out to make our birthday celebration memorable.
