Owen Brennan's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The food was very tasty (we had spinach artichoke dip and grilled oysters for appetizers; Shrimp & grits and scallops as entrees). The service was great. Very attentive waiter. The only not great but nonetheless good was the Sapphire Martini. The glass wasn't cold, it had no hint of Cointreau and the olives weren't blue cheese stuffed. Next time I'll just stick with wine. I will definitely go back.
When we were first seated, it took a while for our server to even acknowledge us. She came over quickly and took our order. As the night went on, we noticed she seldom came to our table. We watched how she interacted with other customers and it was more attentive. When she would come back to our table she would say something really quick and walk away. She gave no eye contact and acted as if we didn’t matter. We wanted dessert, but it took too long for her to come back to the table. I was really frustrated at this time so I just asked for the check. I hate to say this, but I feel because of our skin color she didn’t want to be bothered. Since we have been in Memphis we have dined all over the city. The service here was the worse we have come across. I didn’t bother to speak with a manager because I feel the head sets the tone of an establishment. In other words, management is probably the same. This was our first and last time in this restaurant. We didn’t get our server name. The information from our ticket may help find her. Reward her well.
Server: team 1
I hate to say this, but it was disappointing.
First the two lights directly in front of the place in the parking lot were not working. Made for a very dark situation for parking.
The before dinner drinks were in very small glasses and full of ice. If you got 3 sips you were lucky! They sure saved on liquor.
The server was pushy and seemed disinterested in us, since we were not in a hurry and did not order, it seemed to her liking.
I love the ambience, but a large screen TV in the dinning area on some game show is not my idea of fine dinning.
My husband chose Owen Brennen's for his birthday dinner. We had been there before and to be honest, I was not really looking forward to going. To my surprise, everything was great. The atmosphere was not too formal, but also not casual. The food was great. We had the special of filet with crab bites. Although stuffed, we had to get dessert of bananas foster as well. Our server was friendly and informed. If I had to find a complaint, I thought they would do something special for my husband's birthday. They wished him a happy birthday, but that was it. Even saying that, we will definitely be back.
Been here many times. The last two times, it seems like some changes must have taken place in the kitchen, and not in a good way. Same menu but the same dishes are not as good as in the past. Not sure what has happened, but there is a noticeable drop in how busy they are on a weekend night.
Extreamly disappointed with the food. My husband ordered shrimp and grits and it was way too salty! I ordered lobster bow tie pasta and it lacked flavor altogether. For $31 you'd figure they'd use fresh lobster but judging by the taste of it...it wasn't fresh :( The fried eggplant appetizer was covered with breeding that it was hard to cut and eat and the only thing I can tasted was the tasteless bread ding. I will not return nor will recommend this place. Extreamly disappointed 😩
This was a family Saturday night dinner and was extremely pleased overall. The service was great with drinks being refilled appropriately without and need to ask. The food entrees were great including the Italian soup, herb chicken, voodoo chicken pasta, fried oysters, and definitely the beignets with caramel sauce. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and makes you feel you are actually on vacation in New Orleans. The only ding I would give would be that it was clearly notated on the reservation we were celebrating a birthday and not even an acknowledgement was made. However, overall it was a great dinner and would definitely return in the future!
We booked our reservations based upon our experience in New Orleans. The place extremely well done but yet casual. You felt comfortable. The quality of the food was superior and well prepared. While a bit pricey i would not hesitate to return and plan on returning. Our waitstaff was attentive and knew the menu and the food.
If you quality food and atmosphere this is the place.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our Girls Night Out. Our servers, Tiger & James were great. The food was awesome, the ambience was a little too dark for us (thankfully we had our iPhones for the light 🙂). We all had to take our entrees home, there was just too much for one person. The best part of our evening was dessert. We each took home the Bread Pudding!!! One of us ordered Creme Brûlée and after finishing it, even she decided(after sammpling one bite) that she wanted the Bread Pudding too.
The appetizer we had (smoked salmon dip) left something to be desired but the entrees we had (seafood bowtie pasta, scallops, and crawfish eggs benedict) were beautiful and filling. The scallops were a little weird but maybe I just wasn't in the mood. Cocktails and wine were great, desert was awesome. Our server, Amanda, was totally fantastic and so at ease I trusted her every move.
This fine restaurant definitely needs more servers. We have always loved the food and ambiance at OB's. The place was very busy and they needed another waiter or two to help speed things up.
Our food: The shrimp appetizer was delicious-one of our entrees was hot the other was only lukewarm. We waited, and waited, waited some more, and the server kept coming by apologizing and I thought the manager would surely visit our table- he did not. Hmmm.
We were there from 6:45 until 8:30. IF we go back we will go earlier and probably during the week!
