Owen Brennan's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My husband chose Owen Brennen's for his birthday dinner. We had been there before and to be honest, I was not really looking forward to going. To my surprise, everything was great. The atmosphere was not too formal, but also not casual. The food was great. We had the special of filet with crab bites. Although stuffed, we had to get dessert of bananas foster as well. Our server was friendly and informed. If I had to find a complaint, I thought they would do something special for my husband's birthday. They wished him a happy birthday, but that was it. Even saying that, we will definitely be back.
Been here many times. The last two times, it seems like some changes must have taken place in the kitchen, and not in a good way. Same menu but the same dishes are not as good as in the past. Not sure what has happened, but there is a noticeable drop in how busy they are on a weekend night.
Extreamly disappointed with the food. My husband ordered shrimp and grits and it was way too salty! I ordered lobster bow tie pasta and it lacked flavor altogether. For $31 you'd figure they'd use fresh lobster but judging by the taste of it...it wasn't fresh :( The fried eggplant appetizer was covered with breeding that it was hard to cut and eat and the only thing I can tasted was the tasteless bread ding. I will not return nor will recommend this place. Extreamly disappointed 😩
This was a family Saturday night dinner and was extremely pleased overall. The service was great with drinks being refilled appropriately without and need to ask. The food entrees were great including the Italian soup, herb chicken, voodoo chicken pasta, fried oysters, and definitely the beignets with caramel sauce. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and makes you feel you are actually on vacation in New Orleans. The only ding I would give would be that it was clearly notated on the reservation we were celebrating a birthday and not even an acknowledgement was made. However, overall it was a great dinner and would definitely return in the future!
We booked our reservations based upon our experience in New Orleans. The place extremely well done but yet casual. You felt comfortable. The quality of the food was superior and well prepared. While a bit pricey i would not hesitate to return and plan on returning. Our waitstaff was attentive and knew the menu and the food.
If you quality food and atmosphere this is the place.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our Girls Night Out. Our servers, Tiger & James were great. The food was awesome, the ambience was a little too dark for us (thankfully we had our iPhones for the light 🙂). We all had to take our entrees home, there was just too much for one person. The best part of our evening was dessert. We each took home the Bread Pudding!!! One of us ordered Creme Brûlée and after finishing it, even she decided(after sammpling one bite) that she wanted the Bread Pudding too.
The appetizer we had (smoked salmon dip) left something to be desired but the entrees we had (seafood bowtie pasta, scallops, and crawfish eggs benedict) were beautiful and filling. The scallops were a little weird but maybe I just wasn't in the mood. Cocktails and wine were great, desert was awesome. Our server, Amanda, was totally fantastic and so at ease I trusted her every move.
This fine restaurant definitely needs more servers. We have always loved the food and ambiance at OB's. The place was very busy and they needed another waiter or two to help speed things up.
Our food: The shrimp appetizer was delicious-one of our entrees was hot the other was only lukewarm. We waited, and waited, waited some more, and the server kept coming by apologizing and I thought the manager would surely visit our table- he did not. Hmmm.
We were there from 6:45 until 8:30. IF we go back we will go earlier and probably during the week!
We've eaten here for lunch a few times & it's always been great. However, our dinner was very much lacking (especially for the price). My pasta was very bland and my husbands steak was mediocre. Drinks were good, will come back to the bar, but probably not for dinner.
We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The food was perfect ! Our only complaint was the table location and arrangement. As a party of 5, we were seated at a table that was at the conflux of all people traffic coming in and out of that area. With that being said, it was noisy and chaotic . The table arrangement consisted of a round table with a crescent shaped bench around one side of the table and one chair. We were all stepping on each others feet because we were all scrunched together. We did ask for another chair and that helped the situation. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and we do plan to come back.
Owen Brennans is not what it used to be !!! The Drinks was good n the atmosphore was great for after work setting but the food was not , my shrimp amd grits was served warm . the pasta was bland and my bread pudding was just ok. i think i would only go here for brunch now becuae they still have the best Brunch in Memphis, the omelettes are made to order ....
