We had a lovely time and delicious food. Loved the crispy chicken sandwich. Good service by our friendly waiter.
Great for meeting a large group for a drink. Can't beat the convenience for commuters. Dining recommended for much smaller groups, but the food is quite good and reasonably priced.
Great lunch spot. Great service. Crispy chicken salad is so yummy!
We went for 11:15 weekday lunch before 1:00 opera nearby. Restaurant practically empty when we got there, much busier when we left, but not full. After our food came, the waiter only checked back once for drink refills. I had to hunt him down at the cash register at 12:30. He never came to see if we wanted coffee and dessert, which we would have had. The grouper sandwiches and short rib flatbread were tasty. Ovie’s salad was overdressed with a dressing that was too sweet. Nothing there that would make me want to go back.
I had never been to Ovie, even though I have been taking the train to Ogilvie for years. I needed a restaurant that was near my new office on Riverside Plaza and could seat 12 people during the holidays. I did my reservation online through OpenTable and put in the comments that I would like to have a quieter section of the restaurant if possible, so we could hear each other without shouting. When we arrived, we were brought into a private room with a giant square table. It was amazing. And I was not charged extra. What a lovely surprise. After lunch the manager asked how things were and he told me when he read my reservation comment, he figured he'd give us the nice room. Thank you!! Now, as far as the food goes, that was another pleasant surprise. I ordered the hummus and calamari appetizers for the group, and they were great. For entrees, everyone happened to order either a salad or a burger, even though the menu has a nice selection of entrees, and everyone was pleased. The service was also fantastic, and so are the prices. I feel like I've been missing out on this place for years, simply because I viewed it as some bar in a train station. I highly recommend it for a really nice meal.
Chef Jose uses all fresh products which shows in the amazing taste of the menu items.
Wanted someplace different and this worked out fine. tucked away under the train tracks, cozy and private with excellent food and drink I plan to add to my go to list.
Made a reservation for an early evening dinner and was not at all disappointed. Food and beer were really good. It was fun to sit and listen to the trains low rumble above as they came and went from the station. The noise did not overwhelm conversations. Have to like a place that has a picture of the great Mavis Staples on the wall.
Recommend the Ahi Tuna salad. I'm looking forward to trying other seafood and appetizers.
Good lunch. Great location for business lunch
We told the hostess that we wanted a quite table and not only did they seat us out of the way, they asked us if they should turn the music down. Very thoughtful and efficient waiter as well!
Good food, drinks and service Always good place to go. Must try the restaurant and bring
Really like this restaurant for lunch. Good menu and friendly service. Have booked reservations on 2 occasions using Open Table. Even told them upon arrival. Later received emails from Open Table that we didn't honor our reservation. Ovie should correct this recurring problem.
Great food as always, and the service is friendly and efficient.
I didn't like the food. The Reuben was cold and so were my fries. The people that had the chicken soup said it was really good. I would go back, but only for a beer.
Consistently great food. Love the location. In warm weather there is a nice area to sit outside.
I have been to Ovie several times, and it never disappoints both in great food and in staff friendliness. I highly recommend.
Food and service were top notch. Waiter made some stellar recommendations.
This is a hidden gem for a casual business lunch. Quick service, nice menu and central location. Tables are spread out so you can have private conversation. And it's not super noisy and crowded. I'll be back for sure.
Ovie was a great place for lunch with a business client/ friend. The atmosphere is high energy and friendly. Our waiter was great, gave opinions, very nice. I have been there a handful of times and is always impressed.
This was recommended by a friend and it was perfect for a business lunch. We were able to have a conversation without feeling disrupted, but without feeling like we were disrupting others too. The food was solid and would have had plenty of choices for any taste.
Good food, good service, good value. We would return for a business lunch.
It was good!
The steak sandwich medium rare is absolutely delicious!
Did need a fireplace for warmth, was chilly. It was very cold outside, so reason for it being chilly inside, I guess.
Had a great lunch, server Julian was very informative without hovering. Had a Steak Dianne special and met the chef. Very enjoyable lunch and location is so convenient.
We need someplace to eat before an event at the Civic Opera House. Great food and a great server.
Been taking the train forever but did not know Ovir was there. Cold day so I didn't have to walk outside. Our waiter was a pro. Menu and good womderful. Especially the flat bread. We asides as long as we wanted. We felt at home.❤️
This was a good spot for a casual, well priced client lunch. The food was good, the ambiance was decent but most importantly the service was great! Our server was extremely knowledgeable, personable and provided excellent service throughout the meal.
Convenient at train station. In the past the food has been very good with nice selections.
Now the selections are more limited and the quality of the food is just so-so.
Easy convenient place to meet friends/colleagues. Proximity to both train stations big plus.
For a simple business lunch, the server went on and on and on and on about so many specials. I'm sure the restaurant makes the staff do it, but it is irritating and way overboard. Mid-thought and while speaking to us, the server evidently didn't like that the adjacent table was seated with guests, and simply walked away / abandoned us to discuss with colleagues. Overall not a great experience. The food was fine.
This is a great place for lunch. The environment was pleasant. Great food.
Salad was over dressed and not very flavorful. French friends and basil aioli was great
Great service. Like the bread basket that comes with. Pasta primavera was great
Great loaded fries. Good drink selection. Like the big front area for groups
The place was not busy but the service was super slow
Salmon was good!
Odd location but trendy with very good food
Convenient place at the Metra station and close to the opera house
