Ovie Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
Made a reservation for an early evening dinner and was not at all disappointed. Food and beer were really good. It was fun to sit and listen to the trains low rumble above as they came and went from the station. The noise did not overwhelm conversations. Have to like a place that has a picture of the great Mavis Staples on the wall.
Really like this restaurant for lunch. Good menu and friendly service. Have booked reservations on 2 occasions using Open Table. Even told them upon arrival. Later received emails from Open Table that we didn't honor our reservation. Ovie should correct this recurring problem.
This was recommended by a friend and it was perfect for a business lunch. We were able to have a conversation without feeling disrupted, but without feeling like we were disrupting others too. The food was solid and would have had plenty of choices for any taste.
For a simple business lunch, the server went on and on and on and on about so many specials. I'm sure the restaurant makes the staff do it, but it is irritating and way overboard. Mid-thought and while speaking to us, the server evidently didn't like that the adjacent table was seated with guests, and simply walked away / abandoned us to discuss with colleagues. Overall not a great experience. The food was fine.
We took the metra downtown to see the King and I on a Friday evening. Our reservation was honored early, and Ovie was packed. We were able to catch the happy hour pricing on wine by the glass. We ordered 4 small plates. The hummus was delicious. The Angus sliders were very tasty and cooked perfectly. Margarita flat bread had lots of fresh basil. Our server Christine was very accommodating to our theater time.
Service was brutal. Although we were a group of 10, there were only 14 customers in the place. Waitress brought us an item no one ordered, failed to exclude onions on someone's sandwich request, never brought sweet n low when asked, failed to place bread on the side of one sandwich. Overall very poor service.
