I hate the new menu. There are too few selections and what is there isn’t very appealing. Miss the old menu. We won’t be back. So disappointed!!
Very limited menu, so that was a disappointment. Also not sure how I feel about the trains rumbling just over your head. (You feel it more than hear it)!!!! What we did have was good and fresh.
Fast, friendly service, okay good. A once in a while lunch spot.
Good happy hour, with great oysters. We sat outside and it was nice until some fire trucks and ambulances came by....that's life in the big city. :-) Service was excellent
Meeting up with family and loved the margarita flatbread; amazing crust! Service was great just wished they had more gluten-free options. I live in Denver and we are spoiled for the gluten-free options.
Great place for lunch in west loop (Randolph and Canal). Food and service were both excellent. Easy to find if you enter from Canal.
We all really enjoyed our lunch especially the salad with seared tuna! Service and atmosphere were nice.
Good but way too loud xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Nice place to grab a quick bite with a co worker. The food is decent but not really flavorful
The food there is very reasonably priced and quite good and imaginative. The noise level because of the bar is an issue. It quiets down around 7pm. But we came earlier because of a 7:30 pm performance in te Loop.
It's been a while since I've visited Ovie and it was very disappointing. I took a client there for dinner. She had reviewed the menu earlier on Ovie's website, but none of the items she wanted (and saw on the online menu) were available. The waitress was very nice, and tried her best to explain that the website had not been updated and the menu actually was very incorrect online. It's a good place to stop for a cocktail, glass of wine and appetizer before heading home, but would not recommend for dinner.
The service in this restaurant is always top-notch: Friendly, accommodating, etc. Food is interesting, always consistent in its presentation/preparation (the cooks know how to prepare a steak rare when asked!) and reasonably priced, especially when compared to some similar, nearby places. However, because the bar dominates the dinning room (dining areas surround it on all sides) and typically draws a large crowd, conversation can be challenging at times. Only real gripe is that cocktails are pretty pricey for the mix but not terrible. Overall however, Ovie is a great place and I will continue to return and recommend to others!
We had a great experience. Dressed for the opera and wanting a quick bite our waitress was very attentive to our time crunch. The food was very good and we will surely go again.
Had a great time, excellent service, good drinks. Great spot to stop at before taking the train out of the city to home.
Perfect for business lunch
Good spot for business lunch.
Food was all very greasy. I had the steak and my wife had the wings. Steak was almost inedible. I had a Moscow Mule and the drink was mostly like juice. Also our server delivered our food then forgot about us for 15 minutes, stopped by to say she’d bring more water as I was as completely out. Took 10 minutes for that to arrive. Unfortunate experience all around; we won’t be returning.
Very convenient location in the OTC. Great service and happy hour specials!
Excellent food, friendly service. Never disappointed when we go there.
Wasn’t busy for a Monday noon lunch and made for a good opportunity for team meeting while eating.
I ordered the veggie burger- one of the best tasting I’ve had. Only complaint was that my plate was cleared before I was completely done. Other than that,
Was a good dining experience.
The service was very good. There was a slight problem with one of our food items, but the waiter fixed it immediately. The food was delicious. Over all, an excellent experience.
Laura was an amazing host and server. She went out of her way to ensure we had what we needed to do some business work, and then also have a fun dinner. Thanks!
We had a lovely time and delicious food. Loved the crispy chicken sandwich. Good service by our friendly waiter.
Great for meeting a large group for a drink. Can't beat the convenience for commuters. Dining recommended for much smaller groups, but the food is quite good and reasonably priced.
Great lunch spot. Great service. Crispy chicken salad is so yummy!
We went for 11:15 weekday lunch before 1:00 opera nearby. Restaurant practically empty when we got there, much busier when we left, but not full. After our food came, the waiter only checked back once for drink refills. I had to hunt him down at the cash register at 12:30. He never came to see if we wanted coffee and dessert, which we would have had. The grouper sandwiches and short rib flatbread were tasty. Ovie’s salad was overdressed with a dressing that was too sweet. Nothing there that would make me want to go back.
I had never been to Ovie, even though I have been taking the train to Ogilvie for years. I needed a restaurant that was near my new office on Riverside Plaza and could seat 12 people during the holidays. I did my reservation online through OpenTable and put in the comments that I would like to have a quieter section of the restaurant if possible, so we could hear each other without shouting. When we arrived, we were brought into a private room with a giant square table. It was amazing. And I was not charged extra. What a lovely surprise. After lunch the manager asked how things were and he told me when he read my reservation comment, he figured he'd give us the nice room. Thank you!! Now, as far as the food goes, that was another pleasant surprise. I ordered the hummus and calamari appetizers for the group, and they were great. For entrees, everyone happened to order either a salad or a burger, even though the menu has a nice selection of entrees, and everyone was pleased. The service was also fantastic, and so are the prices. I feel like I've been missing out on this place for years, simply because I viewed it as some bar in a train station. I highly recommend it for a really nice meal.
Chef Jose uses all fresh products which shows in the amazing taste of the menu items.
Wanted someplace different and this worked out fine. tucked away under the train tracks, cozy and private with excellent food and drink I plan to add to my go to list.
Overall great service and good food. Great place for lunch with lots of options. I recommend their salads and burgers.
Made a reservation for an early evening dinner and was not at all disappointed. Food and beer were really good. It was fun to sit and listen to the trains low rumble above as they came and went from the station. The noise did not overwhelm conversations. Have to like a place that has a picture of the great Mavis Staples on the wall.
Recommend the Ahi Tuna salad. I'm looking forward to trying other seafood and appetizers.
Good lunch. Great location for business lunch
We told the hostess that we wanted a quite table and not only did they seat us out of the way, they asked us if they should turn the music down. Very thoughtful and efficient waiter as well!
Good food, drinks and service Always good place to go. Must try the restaurant and bring
Really like this restaurant for lunch. Good menu and friendly service. Have booked reservations on 2 occasions using Open Table. Even told them upon arrival. Later received emails from Open Table that we didn't honor our reservation. Ovie should correct this recurring problem.
Great food as always, and the service is friendly and efficient.
I didn't like the food. The Reuben was cold and so were my fries. The people that had the chicken soup said it was really good. I would go back, but only for a beer.
Consistently great food. Love the location. In warm weather there is a nice area to sit outside.
I have been to Ovie several times, and it never disappoints both in great food and in staff friendliness. I highly recommend.
