Over The Moon Cafe
Dinner features various entrees , starters, salads and desserts. There is a heavy emphasis on both Italian and French fare, along with my love of comfort food. I do my best to provide wines that are of good quality, are affordable and approachable. We offer some amazing craft cocktails with top shelf liquors. No patron bar seating is available.
Turn in to the Alley and experience a truly unique fine dining experience in an atmosphere of understated elegance. "Cafe" -- An unpretentious restaurant.
We had a reservation and some special requests for Valentines Day and the staff delivered. We love this place! The food is top notch and the cozy atmosphere makes this one of our favorites.
First visit there... A+. Really enjoyed all aspects and will definitely return!
Fantastic place for an intimate romantic dinner. Food was out of this world good.
Great birthday meal Good food, great cocktails and nice wine list in a cozy space
Super place, hidden gem, do not let the lack of parking prevent you from walking 3-6 blocks to get here. So worth it!
Perfect night. The best food! Best ambiance! Great wait staff. I would definitely recommend! Be sure to make a reservation.
Sense of arrival in back hall way is lacking. Steak was just ok. Server was nice Drinks good.
Wonderful, delicious dinner and professional, friendly and courteous server.
Great atmosphere, easy to have a intimate conversation. Food was amazing. We are both vegetarian, and was well suited. Plenty of parking close by!
Over the Moon was true to its name: it left us over the moon with happiness. The food was simply outstanding. We tried the clam and Italian sausage in garlic butter sauce, the crab bisque, the lobster Mac and cheese, the short rib ragu and the house made vanilla ice cream with berry compote. Not a bad bite in the meal. Service was unobtrusive and professional. The venue is dark, romantic, comfy and intimate. This is a perfect place for a third date, an anniversary or any other special moment. We'll be back. Soon!
Our favorite date spot in the area. Highly recommend.
A great experience at this cozy bistro I will definitely return!
I parked on Opera Alley and it looked like a back lot at a movie studio. The street was clean, the buildings are colorful, and no one else was around. Over the Moon Cafe is a boutique restaurant. The ambiance is peaceful and romantic. Reading the love notes to my wife from the note box was unique and interesting and lead to a fun conversation. Service is great and the food was really good. I had the duck and it was very savory. Lastly, the pricing was reasonable for a boutique restaurant. Will certainly come here again and recommend to friends.
The Ribeye is one of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Cocktails are good, too.
I just love this place. Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Great service.
Amazing food good vibes will return
We love this restaurant. The service this time was a little off. Felt a bit rushed and chaotic. Chalking it up to a busy night.
Was only given 1/2 of my leftovers. Lots of dreggs in bottom of wine glass
Outstanding restaurant. The food was delicious. Can’t wait to go again!
First time here.. it was a darling restaurant, very cozy. We ordered vodka tonics and my husband and I both noticed a funny taste, like maybe a flavored vodka or something sweet. I didn’t mind too much but my husband did so I drank his as well! We had the Brussels sprout appetizer- my husband loved that. I had a spinach salad w pears/walnuts that was good. The pears were not ripe so kind of tasteless. For main course my husband ordered the short rib ragu which was wonderful. I ordered the jumbo shrimp pasta which to me had a funny overly sweet taste I couldn’t place. Maybe sherry. I was expecting a garlic basil cream sauce. But the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the shrimp were yummy and there were a lot of them! So overall we would go again, just order a bottle of wine instead and I would choose a different entree.
Such an intimate setting with the most delicious comfort food. Excellent for a cold rainy January night!
Service was typical and dry as any other restaurants. The place is well organized. Good feel. Given the price of the food was terribly high for entrees that can be found in many other fine dining setups I was thoroughly disappointed that the first 3 bites of my Lobster mac n cheese had so much garlic in it I could no lonher tast anything else in front of me. Similarly when I drank my entire glass of wine and a tall glass of water and regained some of my taste buds I tried my dates roast duck breast and found it chewy and poorly seasoned. I then tried my dates red mashed potatoes and got a huge mouthfull of salt? Not sure why there is salt in the mashed potatoes. My date did not add it to her plate and again my mouth and hers was destroyed of any ability to taste anything again for the evening. I would not recommend this place for anything other than the atmosphere and the wine.
We loved the ambiance of this cafe. Came to celebrate our anniversary. Staff had set table up with a card, rose and rose petals. The artisan bread was very good and hearty. We had the mussels and sausage and ordered extra bread to soak up the broth. We enjoyed the crab bisque (lots of crab) . My wife had the duck and I had the Beef Wellington (special of the night). The highlight was the bread pudding with apples and other spices. Best we have had in the Northwest so far. Rivals bread pudding we have had in the South.
First time eating here. Will definitely be back! Great food! Fantastic ambiance. One of the best experiences we have had in a while.
Beautiful little restaurant decorated with love , run by a lovely family. awesome delicious food which comes beautifully prepared. Great variety of wines and beers. vegan options are also on the menu. Their vegan cheesecake version is to die for
The food was amazing! I loved the cute decor and the craft cocktails! The dessert was to die for and I need to know how to make this dream turtle pie that isn’t too sweet or rich! My only comment is that it’s a little too dark. I had to use my phone to read the menu.
This place is truly the hidden gem of Tacoma. The purpose of the dinner was to have a nice meal and a serious conversation about our future. Our relationship went through turmoil and resulted in ending things. After some distance and reflection we can't deny what is already laid out before us. There IS someone for everyone and he is my light in the dark, my sunshine in the rain and my strength when I feel weak. Reading the notes left by others was heartwarming and gave an almost surreal feeling as if you could hear the persons voice reading what they wrote. Service was superb, wine delicious and the food is knock your socks off satisfying! This is now "our spot". Thank you for such an amazing experience! We'll see you very soon.
Food was delicious, service was perfect, ambiance was cozy. Wish there were a few healthier options on the menu but overall, thumbs up!
Great little spot tucked away in an interesting building. We enjoyed a pleasant evening. Food was good. I should have tried one of their cocktails. We'll have to come back sometime.
Always a pleasure to dine at Over the Moon. Excellent service and the food is amazing.
My family and I had Christmas Eve dinner here. The service and food were delicious and impeccable. Highly recommended.
I went here for my anniversary with my boyfriend. He has been to some fancy places in his life and even he said it was the best meal he’d ever had. The food was amazing and the service was extremely fast. I’ll definitely be returning.
My only complaint is that we arrived on time only to wait 20+ minutes to be seated. Tables appeared to be empty when we arrived. Waiting area is very unusual behind the kitchen in a hallway.
Haven't been here for a while, but it was excellent! we both loved our entrees. Waitstaff was attentive without being annoying, great time, will be back sooner than later.
I went to Over The Moon Cafe for my 10-year anniversary. It was worth every penny. The entire experience was fantastic from start to finish, and the food was incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
I had indicated that it was my anniversary when making my reservation on OpenTable, but was surprised to find a rose and handwritten note on our table when we were seated. Every staff member we interacted with congratulated us, which was thoughtful and added to our enjoyment.
The main dishes and desserts all had complex, deep flavors. The portions were generous. As an added bonus, the plates for our desserts had "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate, and they came decorated with small flowers and candles.
Food was amazing. Service was polite and friendly-when they were there. For the price charged, it seems that they can hire more staff because the place was understaffed the entire evening. Every aspect of service (ordering, refills, food, paying the check) took an extremely long time.
This place is amazing! It's like something you'd find on a quaint side alley in Paris. Seriously, it's a fantastic spot with amazing service and food and ambiance. Can't recommend it enough and will definitely be back!
Upon arrival we were immediately seated to a romantically set table for our anniversary. They went the extra step to write us a congratulations card, flower, and welcomed us. The food was incredible and the service was very attentive. Great wine selection and mixed drinks menu. We enjoyed our meals, Steamed Clam and Italian Sausage appetizer, Lobster Mac and Cheese, Ribeye Steak for the main course and the desserts of Granny Smith Apple and Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding and Turtle Truffle Pie.
Amazing dinner. Absolutely love eating here. Brought my mother for the first time to celebrate her birthday. She felt so spoiled. Thanks for a marvelous experience!
