Outliers Eatery - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Service was incredibly slow. It took atleast 15 minutes for just drink order.
Drink tasted like ingredients were left out - with so many awesome choice in Portland it was lackluster.
Interior is beautiful - ambience is great.
Need help worth food, drinks and service. The waiter acted unprofessional - could have been working at a chain restaurant. Didn't seem to care too much.
We had a relatively large table (8) on a busy Saturday night but service was excellent, friendly and attentive even though the restaurant was quite full. The menu has something for everyone (a few of us felt like simple burgers and fries and apparently were very happy with the quality, others loved the duck, the grilled octopus and the pork belly....) - Overall very good!
I recently had brunch here and while the food was delicious food, the portions were considerably small for the price. A regular cup of coffee was $4, which I thought was extremely overpriced. Otherwise, very fun atmosphere and great location. Maybe save this spot for special occasions.
First time my husband and I visited. What a hidden gem. Love the Decour love the ambience & the bathrooms are something to behold.
Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, our food came out promptly, warm delicious great portion sizes. Menu is brief but tasty. We will definitely be back
We really enjoyed dinner at Outliers. The food was excellent...a pleasant surprise for our first visit to this restaurant. We were also pleasantly surprised that we were able to easily find parking very nearby on the street. Service was good and we will definitely go back.
First time we went two years ago it was excellent. we were there on 12/27 with our son and his girlfriend from Napa CA. When we arrived and were seated at 645- our reservation. there was only one other table with diners. We waited over 65 minutes to receive our food after ordering! we only ordered pasta. too long a wait. what was up. as the people came in after, I noticed the diners before us only getting there food an hour later too. very diasapointed with slow service
also the rolls not great. rubbery like they were reheated in micro.
dinners were good.
Don't think we will return anytime soon
Good evening with a vegetarian friend. Menu had several vegan options but excellent non-vegan choices also. Meal wasn't overwhelming proportionality and every selection we picked was very tasty. Wait staff professional and not over intrusive. Music and noise level very intrusive....needs to be muted to enable easy conversation. Overall food and service very good. Noise not so good.
Four of us went to Outliers for dinner, and we all agreed that we would definitely go back to for cocktails and appetizers, and would like to try the brunch we've heard so much about (but would probably pass on dinner again). The cocktails are inventive and tasty. The small plates menu is interesting, and most of what we had was really delicious--fried Brussels sprouts, Gorgonzola flan, octopus, and pigs ears ... but really didn't enjoy the lobster bisque (was more reminiscent of a fairly thick cream of mushroom soup with a few small bits of lobster). For dinner we had salmon, gnocchi, and grilled pork loin, all of which were fine, but we weren't overwhelmed by any of them. My husband thought that the gnocchi was overly salty (and he often grabs the salt shaker without tasting his food), and the two of us who had the pork both commented that it was dry/overcooked. In all three of our cases, we were underwhelmed. I can't comment on the salmon because our friend who had it didn't say anything about it (which on it's own says quite a bit because he's a restaurateur). Aside from the meals, our service was not quite at the level we would have expected for a restaurant like this. Though our server was friendly enough, we sat for quite a long time before our orders were taken, and there were other long periods of time where we couldn't get his attention/he didn't stop by to check on us (and we were right by the kitchen). That said, there was also an error on our bill, and when we asked about it, he did resolve it immediately, with no questions asked. We did like the atmosphere of the restaurant, but were happy that we were seated off to the side, behind a wall away from the main room of the restaurant, as it would've likely been too noisy there for us to have a conversation.
Loved this restaurant. We drove from the Boston area to Portland for Friday night dinner for 4, including our son and a friend who is a well traveled restaurant owner himself.
We arrived at 6 pm and were the first customers. We found on street parking right in front of Outliers. When we left at 8 pm the restaurant was filled with contented diners.
Great service; easy to carry on a conversation because it was not noisy. Nice distance between tables. Excellent dining - our entrees ranged from burger, to lobster with gnocchi, to roast duck. Fries were so good that we ordered a large bowl separately so the whole table could share. Charcuterie board appetizer was delicious and after dinner we caved in to share two desserts - a chocolate mousse cake and a gingerbread. Both to die for.
Only one drinker at the table, who had 2 glasses of wine. Total bill for 4, before tip, was $170. We would definitely come back next time in Portland.
What a fabulous place! It is an "outlier" — we thought our gps was confused because it took us around the block, but we found it. Service and meal was outstanding. The Robert Steadman art and Hunter S Thompson theme is a bonus. Highly recommended. We had several salads, soups, entrées and desserts — all wonderful. Tomato white bean soup, lobster gnocchi and semifreddo were declared winners overall in a very tight race.
My wife and I were going to see a concert at the Maine Irish Heritage Center so we googled area restaurants. Outliers Eatery was in the vicinity so, after checking out their menu, we decided to try it before the concert. We're very glad we did. We found it to have a modern décor where the atmosphere was very appealing. The receptionist was friendly and gave us the impression she was happy to have us there. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, and the food, although a somewhat limited menu, was excellent. They make a great martini, and the overall pricing of both our drinks and food was very reasonable.
We will definitely go back to Outliers in the future and will definitely tell our friends about it.
