Out of the Blue
Fun evening eating authentic Italian seafood. We started with the clams casino app which was awesome. Entrees were clams and linguine with red sauce and with white sauce, scallops. We’ll be back!
Excellent food, attentive waitstaff and excellent prices! Our 1st there and will go back if in the area.
Long time customers and the food is always the same. Outstanding!
Dining at Out of the Blue was a great experience. The food was delicious, and the owner Steve and his wife were extremely hospitable. It was as if being in their own home.
Great owners and lovely wait staff. Fabulous seafood with pasta no matter what kind of sauce you get on it. Both the spicy calamari salad and the octopus salad with olives and capers are to die for
If you're looking for great seafood, this is the place. Unassuming style, no fancy plates or ambiance, but deliciously cooked seafood, good variety and excellent service and care given.
Have been coming here for years and it’s always outstanding.
Great spot: good food: outstanding service
We have been going here for more than 10 years. We have always had a great meal. I highly recommend!
As always the food was great the service was wonderful, my wife and I love that restaurant!
Another good meal with friends at Out Of The Blue. We went on a Monday so the restaurant was relatively quiet and we enjoyed attentive service from the waitstaff. The food was excellent as usual but for the price I wish the portions of both the appetizer and entree were a bit larger.
Went for the sea food emphasis and especially enjoyed the lobster fra diavolo. Desserts were also good.
Out of the blue has been solid for over 15 years. Our family's go to place for special occasions or just dining out. True gem.
Average experience. Server was indifferent at best. Very noisy, a bit bare bones decor for the prices they charged. Baked Halibut was good, but came with just a standard salad, no sides. You can do much better for seafood in Boston !
Menu has a wide assortment of fish but also has some non fish items. Peter, our server, was outstanding. He was Friendly, attentive and very efficient. The food was excellent. The Caesar salad, oysters and clams in a delicious red sauce, so good! Main course was even better! Fish was fresh and delicious. Overall a great experience! Highly recommend!!!
Another great dining experience! ! !
My dinner was delicious! I would definitely return!
The food here at this Greek seafood restaurant is exceptional, particularly the octopus salad and the clam in broth. Great flan for desert and expresso. Altogether a great experience.
Excellent food and service. It is in a small space, but the food is worth it.
A weekday evening, and a friend from work and I were scoping out restaurants in Davis Square. Something reasonably priced with delicious and healthy food, and yet casual. Out of the Blue proved to be perfect. My friend ordered the Grilled Cajun Swordfish and seemed very happy with it; the portion was sizable and she ate every bite. I ordered the chunked/chopped shrimp and calamari with broccoli rabe and squid ink fettucine in a garlic sauce -- quite the mouthful but boy oh boy was an absolutely delicious mouthful. The portion was large enough that I was able to relive my delight for lunch today! We ordered wine with dinner (good value compared to other restaurants) and were able to enjoy catching up in a casual atmosphere over delicious food. Highly recommended.
I knew very little about Out of the Blue but the reviews were very positive and the location was perfect. The food was very very good. Grilled octopus, seared tuna, sweet and white potatoes - all cooked spot on. Service was attentive and jovial and professional. It was a bit cold and drafty on a chilly night but didn't really detract from the experience - if you go on a cold night bring a vest. All in all, really liked Out of the Blue.
Everyone was exceptional as far as service and greetings. They treated us so nice.
The food was good but the service was terrible. We waited 15 minutes to even be approached and our food came out long before our wine and drinks got to us. The server never looked up just a quick “do you want to order?” It also took my too long to get silverware once my food came out to the point that it was almost cold. I have lived in the area for over 10 years and I will recommend that others not waste time or money here with so many other great options in the area.
The food was wonderful and service was good. However, I made the mistake of agreeing to sit towards the front of the building. Since the door kept opening with customers, I was was horribly cold. My husband and I have a young child, so this dinner was the first night out that we spent alone together in 6 months. Unfortunately, I was so physically uncomfortable that by the time the waiter mentioned dessert, I just wanted to return home.
Out of the Blue is The Best. Fabulous seafood and Italian dishes, good wine list, and amazing service. (And very reasonably priced.) A neighborhood stand-out. But also worth a trip to Davis Square, if you’re not a neighbor.
We had a great experience at Out of the Blue! It was the perfect place to bring my parents to when they were in town. The food was excellent; I could eat the grilled Spanish-style octopus any day, and their whole cooked fish was cooked perfectly. Pair their simple, fresh food with a down-to-earth (and sea) atmosphere with great service, and we found ourselves a new family favorite. We look forward to coming back again soon!
Traditional Italian seafood , prepared well , but not aspirational. Crab cakes covered in marinara different but not great. Marinara on other pasta dishes good but not exceptional. Seafood well prepared , tender not over cooked but lacking any flavor .
It's probably better at quite house Middle of Tuesday afternoon, for example? than when the restaurant is full.
Very nice find in Davis Square.
Our waiter was amazing-he even tied a lobster bib around my boyfriend’s neck so he could eat! Great service 👌🏼
Food was decent. My dining partner had swordfish- decent flavor but a little dry. I had stuffed calamari with Fra diavolo. Very happy with my dish. It was 730 on a Saturday so busy and a little loud but that was expected. Service was good . I would go back. Chicken parm looked great
Out of the Blue is a very nice neighborhood place with fine food, a relaxed atmosphere, attentive service and extensive bar selections. Davis Square in Somerville has many fine restaurants. If you haven't tried Out of the Blue, next time in Davis Square try it. You will return.
Delicious food, non-pretentious atmosphere, great prices. The restaurant provided a lovely dining experience.
Great restaurant. Awesome food, excellent service. Never lets me down.
Food was amazing. Seared tuna full of flavors, seared to perfection. Wait staff were great, very friendly. Will be going back soon!
The food was good. we ordered fairly quickly, and apps came quite quickly. Unfortunately, the server arrived back before we had finished and tried to push my plate to the side to present the main. I was literally still eating from the plate, but he needed to shove it out of the way to make room for the next course. I really hate when they do that...
The food was quite good. If i went back, i would either not order an app, or else refuse to order a main until finishing (or finished) the app.
The service was not great. Salad advertised as romaine, arugula, spinach had only romaine. Waiter reluctantly fixed. Fish was prepared nicely but pasta sauces were gloppy and oily. I won't be going back.
We enjoyed it very much everyone cleaned their plates. The service was great.
great octopus salad appetizer; fried calamari were overcooked
Delicious food and nice people! And convenient to the T and the Somerville Theatre too. We will be back!
