Consistently great dining experience.
I had the Cajun swordfish, and it was amazing. We had crab cakes as appetizers, which were also quite good. The margaritas were very good as well, and my waiter was even able to make me a glass of sangria on request. Everything was great. The only downside is on the atmosphere and ambience. It's a bit more closed off from the street than many other nearby restaurants, which doesn't matter in cold weather, but is something to consider in the summer. Also there's really no atmosphere inside, so you need to bring your own company, but overall a great spot that I would definitely recommend for seafood.

Waiter was unfriendly, food is overpriced and there wasn't a single woman working there with a staff of at least 10.
I did not feel welcome at the restaurant. We stood at the front door for at least 10 minutes before someone would come over and speak with us. The clam chowder was the worse. It did not have anything on it. My son had the seafood linguine and the clams and mussels did not taste fresh. I was afraid to eat and get sick. I would not recommend this restaurant. Inside it looked old and the two waiter were not very nice and friendly. I did not feel welcome there.

Children allowed to run around screaming kinda spoiled our experience. The food was great - sole francaise over creamy risotto was delicious. Service very responsive and friendly. But atmosphere only okay. With a few minor changes this restaurant could transform to a much better rating.
This was my 2nd time to this restaurant in one week. The cajun swordfish was delicious however both of us had some stomach issues afterwards - I don't think that's the fault of the restaurant, but perhaps we just don't react well to a spice that was used. The pomegranate cocktail was delicious and the pasta with shrimp scampi was great as well although be warned if you go with the garlic and wine sauce, the garlic is definitely heavy! It's a big dark in the restaurant unless you sit in the first two rows of tables by the door - that's one bit I would try to improve somehow.
This was our first time at Out of the Blue, choosing it due to positive reviews, a good menu and walking distance location. The service was attentive and friendly, and most of the food was good. I am giving a less than stellar review because two of our group ordered the same special and they both gave mediocre reviews (the black squid ink pasta dish) - mushy consistency and not much flavor to the dish. With so many choices, not sure if we will be back.

I think I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. What a find! Loved the name of the restaurant, too. This was one of the few times that the hostess had actually read about my wanting a quiet table. We were put into a quiet alcove with just another table. Perfect! Waiter was available, but gave us a chance to talk and peruse the menu. Menu has quite a selection and variety of fish selections. We had three different selections Yum1 Chowder was delicious and full of clams. The Frutte Di Mare was fantastic. Lots of fish! I asked for the fish to be served over spinach instead of pasta. They added some broccoli and it was delicious. I really appreciated their swapping out the linguine. They did not rush the meal. The restaurant is in Somerville. They have a lot, but it was full. Circled the block and came back to the lot and there was one spot. We will definitely return.
Flavors are out of this world. I know of no better seafood in the greater Boston area!
We went to an event in Davis square and looked for a restaurant on open table. This is a casual place with sea blue painted walls, a little dark and we were not sure what to expect but were very pleased! My husband had fabulous bronzino and I had sole. The service was attentive and I enjoyed my Albariño and my husband had two Tito’s martinis which he said were superb. Davis square is a throwback to our youth, a pickup jazz group in the commons and dancers joining in. We got a ticket for exceeding two hours non residents parking so beware, but didn’t spoil a great evening.
Great neighborhood place. Delicious seafood & pasta dishes, great wine selection. A place where you can relax and enjoy a good meal & good company

They brought white vinegar and said we could use the oil on the table which was ok but not proper
One of your senior staff solved all the issues but I feel more training is a must

Pretty weak display for great little restaurant that we visit often
A disappointing evening to say the least
It was very quiet when we arrive at 530pm Saturday. It was also freezing. They nicely turned the A/C down for us. Apps and drinks came quickly. Pasta, for some reason, took forever to come. By then the place was quite noisy. Food was tasty, and well-prepared.

The waitstaff was disappointing on this visit. Not attentive at all and when he did come to table to get our food order he was carrying several empty wine glasses in his hands. It wasn't an extremely busy time so i thought he should have paid better attention to us.
The clam chowder tasted like glue. Stuffed clams were not impressive. Drinks were bitter. Very disappointing.
Wow.. that’s a surprising place. Everything we took, from the octopus and fried calamari appetizer to the amazing sesame FRESH salmon, Sole and mix of sea food pasta bowl... We were all mind blown.
This place is 10 minutes walk from where we live and we never gave it a try. FINALLY we did! And I’m so glad we did.
Music playlist is amazing and relaxing. The restaurant isn’t loud and Wine prices are the cheapest we ever found.
A big surprise.
We read the reviews and took a chance. This place is a real find. Great food. Atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We had seafood and it was top notch. Definitely going back again!
Normally, Out of the Blue would rate higher overall in my experience. But, it was Mother's Day and the meal prep time was way above normal. The food is consistently delicious and the bar does a great job. Our server was very good and did his best. But, the meals took too long to be delivered on this particular day.
The food was delicious, I would go back for the chicken parmesan alone. However, the bread was cold and hard which was very disappointing. Also, we came for a birthday but our waiter was very standoffish and did not seem interested in helping us celebrate.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on a quiet Monday evening. The windows over the street were open, the room was not crowded, the service was perfect, the staff friendly and conversant, the drinks prompt and good, and the food was to die for! I had the Pan Roasted Sesame Salmon and absolutely loved it. My daughter enjoyed the crab cakes and a Caesar Salad. I highly recommend this little gem of a neighborhood restaurant.
Our favorites are the Clams And Linguine, the Shrimp Scampi Linguine, the 1/2 Lobster Fra Diavolo, and the Frutte Di Mare. Seafood is fresh and the dish cooked perfectly. Very good selection of reasonably good priced wines.

Food was below mediocre (crab cakes 2 piles of tasteless mush; stuffed calamari tough and filled with an unidentifiable pasty substance; and a salad composed of dry mesclun and a dressing alleged to be balsamic)). Service was indifferent. Surprised because reviews were very positive. So much for reviews. Fortunately, this mess didn't attack me at 3:00 am. Stay away and pray that the restaurant changes its name to Out of Business.
The fish was very good. I had swordfish. The oysters we're large, but I've had tastier, at $2.50 each though, it's what to expect. The grilled vegetables we're fresh and tasty, seasoned nicely. Although I didn't try it, it's nice they offer gluten free pasta.
It is a very old-school kind of place. Not super high in cleanliness, which is why the low stars. Also, the staff was indifferent towards us, very New England no frills service.
Wonderful food, but patrons at the bar/table were way too loud and rowdy. Very uncomfortable and challenged conversation and comfort. I have had similar experiences at other restaurants where the staff intervene to ask for the patrons to be less rouwy.

Several people were there speaking Italian and if that doesn't tell you all you need to know, then I'm not sure you've been to enough good Italian restaurants. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the preparation equally as pleasing. Not a ton of artistry in the plating, but you couldn't ask for much more at the price. Highly recommend.
Fun evening eating authentic Italian seafood. We started with the clams casino app which was awesome. Entrees were clams and linguine with red sauce and with white sauce, scallops. We’ll be back!
The food was great but our waiters attitude was very middle of the road. He was not out going or friendly but not unfriendly either. Parking was not that easy at dinner time. The menu on Open Table was not accurate to the poorly done online menu to their website. When told they didn’t care and said they can’t keep up with the changes. They also don’t respond to their email. I’d go again for the food and good prices but not really for anything else.

Dining at Out of the Blue was a great experience. The food was delicious, and the owner Steve and his wife were extremely hospitable. It was as if being in their own home.
Great owners and lovely wait staff. Fabulous seafood with pasta no matter what kind of sauce you get on it. Both the spicy calamari salad and the octopus salad with olives and capers are to die for
