Service was fair. Food was disappointing. Drinks were overpriced. Has gone downhill since the last time I was there, which was probably 10 years ago.
Horrible...awful...terrible service...unfriendly...will never go back...once was too much!
It was our first visit to Otto’s and we loved it!! The soups were excellent along with the hot crusty rolls!! The food was delicious and the fried veal was not at all greasy!! We took home a piece of apple strudel which was to die for!! We can’t wait for our son to visit from Virginia so we can take him!!
German food was excellent and our waiter Joe was vey attentive. We will return to also try their Sunday dinner buffet.
good food, great service, reasonable prices, we have gone for Easter brunch the last four years
Overall, an enjoyable dining experience. Decent draft beer list, great look and feel to the restaurant (hardwood floors, solid tables, great bar, etc).
The potato pancakes were a bit rubbery and dry - they were more like regular, cakey (and chewy) breakfast pancakes than moist flavorful potato pancakes. The clam chowder was surprisingly tasty. The veal schnitzel and spaetzle/gravy were good (flavor, texture, etc), but a bit small on the portion size (I've had same quality elsewhere, 30% more food for 30% less price). The pickled beet side was also a pretty small portion - maybe 2-2.5 golf-balls' worth of beets (not fulfilling as a side).
A friend got the Farmer's Feast, which looked great (with a more appropriate price/portion ratio). Another friend got the Otto's Salad, which was excellent for the price - huge portion, fresh greens and toppings, great dressing.
Will definitely go back to try some more of the menu, especially once the weather warms and the biergarten opens. Overall, larger side dish portions and a review of their potato pancakes would be welcome.
What some would call dated, I call nostalgic. I like Otto's, and I go several times a year.
Grandsons 10th birthday. He wanted Chicky and Pete’s but they had a 2 hour wait. Ottos was able to get us right in. My husband and i have eaten here many times, however the quality of food has recently gone down and service has never been very good. They never have enough staff. This night there was no bartender, waited 20 minutes for drinks. We weren’t offered salad that comes with the meal, didn’t think to ask until tables around us all got salads with their meals. Waiter never came back to check on us after food was served. Asked if we wanted dessert, adults said no but i suggested my grandchildren get ice cream. They are 5 and 10. They both said no, waiters response was ‘good because I’m busy.’ My Mother’s Pork Chops were tough, dinner rolls were stale and potato pancakes were horrible, bland and chewy, stale as well. Very disappointed. I doubt we will go back unless food and service improves.
Disappointing. In town visiting old friends and we decided to go to an old favorite in ottos. All I can say is a sad decline in standards.
A friends tap beer was horrible but when he inquired the server got a sample an affirmed its taste. Didn’t offer him an alternative.
My food. A simple combo of brats and spaetzle was horrible. The brats were way over cooked but tolerable but the spaetzle was cold and still resembling raw dough. It ate almost none of it.
The crackers with the soup were good.
Sadly this will be the last time we visit ottos. Standards are gone and it seems they may be struggling as it was pretty quiet for a Friday evening.
Service and food outstanding. Got more food than what you paid for. Truely authentic.
It's a small cozy welcoming place with absolutely delicious food. The staff are very friendly and helpful and both times we have been there, the owner makes an effort to visit with every table. Ed and the staff really make you feel like a valuable customer and wanting to return. I have recommended this place to friends and will continue to recommend Otto!
Ordered stuffed mushroom appetizer. I've had worse, but not too good. Bread was so dry, I needed two sodas to get one piece down. Salad was pretty good as was prime rib. Spaetzel and potato pancakes were not too great for a place that specializes in German food. Would not go back, but was fun to try something different.
Food was not warm. Vegetables were most likely frozen, then put in ta microwave. Cheese steak was greasy, and the meatloaf was mushy. Unfortunately, the food was prepared properly.
This was probably the worst meal we have ever had in a restaurant and the three of us left without being able to eat any of it. It is a disgrace to call this German food. The schnitzel tasted rancid, the goulash tasted like a bottle of vinegar and the ingredients shouldn't even include vinegar. We left and went home and ate dinner as we sent all three meals back. The manager said for me to have a dessert on him for the bad food and I chose apple strudel which you would have needed a jackhammer to break a piece off - it too was inedible. I have never in my life walked out of a restaurant with no one being able to eat their meal.
My husband and I came here for Sunday brunch. Very friendly service and tasty food. We love sitting outside in the warmer weather.
Great experience as always! Came for dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday (member of the bday club) and had a great time. We had our 3yr old daughter with us, so we were probably the noisiest guests. My parents and my wife’s mother also joined us, and they enjoyed their meal and drinks as much as we did! Can’t wait to go back and we are looking forward to my Bday Club postcard next month.
Next time I’ll remember to bring my large beer Boot glass.
Went for Breakfast with Santa, kinda crazy but food was good and service terrific. Could use a little freshen-up.
Place could use update of interior. Men's room kind of gross.
Good place to go if you are looking for a good German meal.
We ate in the outdoor space next to the pond; enjoyed a very nice meal mid-afternoon.
We have gone to Otto's several times, and we really enjoy their German menu. Dining outside in their beer garden is very nice.
On this particular occasion, the pork loin was rather overcooked and dry. Sausages and saurbraten and goulash were great. They also seemed to be a lot busier than usual, and the portions seemed just a bit smaller than we have had in the past.
On this particular Saturday night, they had a lounge singer with a bright blue blazer in the beer garden singing Sinatra tunes. It felt like we were in a 1970s episode of the Love Boat. Me and the rest of my party are in our 50s, and we felt like children in the restaurant given the age of the other patrons. We still had fun - the singer could carry a tune and the entire experience was enjoyable in a campy way, but it's worth knowing in advance what you're in for.
Service was great. Our waiter was attentive and explained the beer selection and food to us. Food was outstanding from the sausage platter to the prime rib. If you want a taste and I mean a BIG taste of German food, Otto's is your place.
Food was great. Service could have been quicker, but they didn't rush you through the meal.
Everything tasted great. One person did not care for potato pancakes. Weinerschnitzl was good but grissley in spots. We would definitely come back again.
The food was good beer selection fun and the outside was really nice
Service was good. Very disappointed with the spaetzel--too pasty. The weiner schnitzel could have used a sauce. Beer was excellent. So was the soup.
Good food and good service. Love sitting outside in the beer garden.
Great place to eat with a beautiful, quaint patio seating outback.
The waiter was very personable and good. The food was very tasty but we had very cold beans and the potatoes were also lukewarm, not hot. We all enjoyed our meals except for the temperature of the food.
First visit after a trip to Germany. The food was very close to what I had in Germany.
Not good and not bad in the middle.
Food was a bit greasy
Nice service and great food. I would definitely refer to friends.
We had a nice dinner (sandwiches / salad) at Otto's. Our server was friendly the food was good. We sat on the patio which is nice and they have live music. I thought the floor could have used a sweeping not a big deal just something I noticed. My Husband drank lemonade most places there are free refills not the case here.
Delicious food, friendly service. Enjoyed our dinner together for Mothers Day with my family.
We went on a Sunday evening and enjoyed the fabulous buffet. So many different kinds of meat and a lot of choices for vegetables such as pickled beets, several kinds of potato salad and cabbage, both hot and cold. The food was flavorful without being overly spicy. The service was friendly. Prices were reasonable.
We were please with every aspect of our visit. Food was delicious and the service was great. We will happily visit again and recommend to all!
Awesome down-to-earth, blue collar German food. Food is always tasty, very generous portions, and the Sunday buffet is awesome. Highly recommend breakfast. Decor is outdated but has an old school feel. Decent eastern European beer selection. Prices are very reasonable.
Great selection of German food. A variety of other foods on the menu. Service very good. Not much atmosphere but good beer selection and wines. Fun!
Large servings, entrees came quicky... We were still working on salads. A bit slow getting the bill, but otherwise service very good. Live music was very good but loud in that room, but next room back was better for volume. Will go back!
Excellent German food, beers and ambiance. Particularly great venue in warmer times, when the beer garden in back is open for business.
