Our waitress was great! The food was awful. Had the buffet and everything was dried out and over cooked. They didn't even have anyone carving the prime rib, you had to carve it yourself. I won't go back.
The restaurant did not recognize our reservation and did not see it ok their side even though I rec’d a confirmation text and email a day before asking if I was still coming.
No reason to have a reservation if they don't hold the reservation.
Delivered wrong order; another order had salad dressing poured over salad when on-the-side was requested; crab cake on third order was greasy and no sides were served; no refills of drinks were offered. Ladies room was disgusting. Felt generous tip was a charitable contribution. Otto is rolling over in his grave!
We had a very delicious meal.
We love the Greman specialties they serve. The employees are so friendly, and great food.We always enjoy Ottos.
Were here many times. The years go by, but remain unchanged: excellent food, beer for every taste, excellent service. Thank you.
Otto’s a nice restaurant. The service was good, however, I was disappointed with the spaetzel, it was salty and I really look forward to having it as a side dish for my dinner. ( maybe it was the gravy) I don’t know. It wasn’t as good as I have had in the past.
Been here a few times and It always has been pretty good. But this time it was outstanding. Great meals for me and my friend. The waitress was very attentive. As good as you can get, Sauer Braten. I will be back again.
We've passed by here many times but never stopped in. It was convenient to be able to reserve a table on Open Table. The building is old and layout a little confusing. You have to enter through the bar and walk through seating area to get to hostess. The staff was friendly and our waiter great. The food had great flavor and was priced well. We will be back.
Decor is outdated and looks like it needs a scrubbing. Cafeteria type seating is not optimal for conversation. Food was ok, not great. I had lamb chops, which I asked for medium and they came out rare and bloody. I do not mind red or bloody, but this was really bloody.
The prices were super high and the food was not very good. I will never go back to eat at this restaurant!
Much has changed since our last visit. Friday is now a talent(less) nite of sorts. Having a quiet conversation over dinner was out of the question.
It’s just not good. The meat was dry and too salty and everything else was too salty. I’m not one for ambience if the food is good but the ambience is not good either.
We ate at Otto’s on Valentines Day. Our table faced the fireplace. We had a great meal and great service.
Relaxing and cozy 'mid-afternoon' experience with excellent, much-enjoyed real German food...sauerbraten, bratwurst, and homemade red cabbage, plus awesome homemade apple strudel with vanilla ice cream...Marvelous !! We certainly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, glowing fireplace, and good, polite service from a lovely, experienced waitress...If you love German food, you'll never be unhappy ordering it here !!
Excellent authentic German food with a great selection of German beers on tap. A great dining Experience!
The waiter did NOT know how the food was prepared. Some in our party ordered a certain dish on the description of the waiter. What was plated was NOT as described. We waited quite a while for our food. Now this is expected with a larger party, however, once the food arrived, it was COLDl The rolls were raw inside and the strudel served for desert was also not cooked through. The restaurant is older and could use some updating
If you are looking for authentic German food give Otto's a try. Their red cabbage is delicious and the pork melts in your mouth. They also have a vast selection of American favorites.
Veal was VERY TOUGH!!!! Hard to CUT and hard to chew!
Never disappointed - food is very good and portion are large. Staff is very friendly and you never feel rushed. We at a 1 year old with us and there was no problem finding something on the menu she could eat. We skipped dessert this time since the portion were so big we had no room.
We stood at the door and while there was no one seated at the table & only 3 people at the bar, not even the barmaid acknowledged that we had entered. We stayed for a bit & left without eating. The "ambiance" is poor - it looks like a corner bar in the inner city. We will not return. There may be more to this place but we didn't see any reason to stay. It was unwelcoming & uninviting.
would recommend for everything. Only thing we didn't like is it was too bright, they should lower the lights a bit
The sauerbraten was delicious. Portions are large, and we brought some of our meal home and had it for dinner in a couple of days.
Please have spaetzle next time. My absolute favorite
Had a great time with friends. The noise level was high. Great service!
Small group of women went for lunch. Food selections were decent for lunch. I had the salmon which was very good. Service was attentive and they didn’t rush us at all.
Very very good. Appetizers were quite large portions.
The dinner was delicious.
The soup was absolutely amazing.
will definitely be returning.
Great German restaurant in Horsham. We all ordered the Weiner Schnitzel and various sides. Loved their cream of spinach. Service was good!
I was more than disappointed by my dining experience at Otto's. I was looking forward to our dinner. It had been many years since we had gone to Otto's. We used to go there often, as we know the former owners. I first ordered a small garden salad. The lettuce was yellow iceberg, yuck! My dinner entrée was supposed to be a veal dish. I am not even sure that's what it was. Half of the meat was so overcooked that I could not eat it. My husband's entrée was a sampler of German meats. It was enormous plate of overcooked sausages and chops. The side dishes were also awful. The mashed potatoes had no flavor and the carrots looked like they had been cooking for a week. Our server had absolutely no personality, which was never the case years ago. The place just feels like a (bad) diner, but the prices are at the fine dining level. It's a real shame, because Otto's was such an iconic restaurant with great food and a great staff.
This was the first time we have been to Otto’s. We both enjoyed our meals for lunch. The portions were perfect and there was a great variety to choose from on the lunch menu. We both had Weiner schnitzel with sides. This was probably the best Weiner schnitzel I ever had. We sat inside and the atmosphere was cozy. We will definitely return again.
Service was very poor! Waited 10 minutes to be seated. 25 minutes for someone to come to our table. Very understaffed. Ordered drinks and then waited another 10 minutes for someone else to take our order. After we got our order no one came back to check how everything was and we had to ask for our check. Have been there in the past and have not had this problem.
The outdoor patios area looks to be great for tail gate parties. The indoor is charming, but the food is only so so. Perhaps a place for more drinking than dining.
Otto's is amazing!!! food is more than delicious -- it's scrumptious! this was my first visit but certainly not my last. And now they have take out. i'll be stopping there for that too, after work!! Authentic German dishes and kind, friendly people!! reasonable prices! What else is there to say???!!
The steak was INCREDIBLE! Very good portions. Service was okay. Great German food and beer. Highly recommend. We will be going back very soon.
Service. The most negative issue was an Understaffed service team that was in desperate need of a busser. The app plates were still on the table when the entrees were finished. The manager sat by bar’s expo window talking w/ his friend the entire time we were seated & was oblivious to what was going on except to seat incoming patrons.
Food. The snapper soup tasted like a salt lick that no amount of sherry could overwhelm.
The french onion soup was delicious yet served tepid.
The wife’s way over priced lamb chop salad had decent yet fatty chops but the salad looked like a Rubbish dump of cut ends and unidentifiable wilted shoots that was completely flooded in an awful tasting vinaigrette. Served w/ a gravy boat filled w/ an awful tasting vinaigrette.
The kids chicken fingers & steak fries tasted like deep fried grouper & was completely inedible. Thinking the breading had been scraped off the fish special & repurposed onto the chix fingers. #gross
The potato pancakes were soggy & the single serving sour cream dipping portion was down right cheap. With 4 people at the table & a no double dippy policy always in effect ottos really let us down.
The roll Mops would have been decent fare but no butter came w/ the dish or was brought to the table at any point. The herring was seemingly dumped out of the jar onto the plate w/o being strained first so there was a lake of unwanted liquid that soaked through most of the rye bread making it inedible. The onion serving was for 5-6 people yet the three tiny pickles were enough for one child.
The filet mignon could have used a good trimming before cooking to get the fat off but other than that prep mistake the ordered “medium” steak was served at a decent “medium well.”
Dessert. We got the check & a “ you didn’t want dessert right?” Well I guess not.
Conclusion. Should have sent everything but the beer, steak, Spätzle, & Beets back & walked out having only spent $ 30.00 instead of $ 120.00
Second visit - as much fun as the first. Enjoyed the German appetizers and the Dunkel. The Jaeger Schnitzel wasn't quite as good as the Weiner Schnitzel, but overall had another great meal and enjoyed the comfort food. Service is friendly and accommodating, though relaxed. A fun spot!
Good authentic german food. Nice friendly atmosphere.
We love Otto's. Great menu, fun outdoor seating in the summer time. Our young children love listening to their music in the beer garden and nice selection on the kids menu. We LOVE the food and the beers are great. Fun for our family AND fun to get together with friends.
I got there on time and the place was empty...no staff working, nobody! I waited, inside the restaurant for almost 10min, I tried to call someone in the kitchen and nobody answered so I decided to left and search for another restaurant. It was 1pm on a Saturday.
I love German food. This old line German restaurant is a shadow of its reputation. Truly sad to see.
HUGE portions do not make up for quality. That said, this has a great location, right among a big German population as well as a very long track record. It needs a makeover and a new kitchen philosophy.
