Otto's Restaurant
Plenty of room and spacing under the outside seating roof. As usual, the service was efficient, friendly and expert.
I ordered the meat lovers omelet and it was disappointingly dry, but the others in my party were perfectly happy with their orders of pancakes, corned beef hash and Mr. McGregor's Garden, which was a veggie omelet. We are long-time fans of Otto's and so happy to be dining there again - we will certainly return.
Otto’s has been a favorite for years. Always excellent food and service.
Generous sized drinks, great beers! Superb German specialties!
The food was not good. All tasted like it came from a can. The ambience and service were good but the food. Blah. $100 dinner for 2 not worth it
Food was good. Proper social distancing. Nice pub type atmosphere
Food is very good. Service is exceptional!
Food was well done. Waitress explained different dishes.
Very limited menu. Food is very bland. One dish had gravy (that tasted like gravy & sauerkraut) that didn't state gravy on the menu. The schnitzel was dry, the sauerkraut was extremely sour (my mother in law is from Germany and she didn't like it either). Definitely not mouth watering. Drinks are expensive. Coffee was delicious!
We were sat right outside the bar which gave us a headache as the few people in there were social distanced, so they had to yell to each other.
We will not be dining there again.
Great and authentic German cuisine. I'll be back for the 3rd time, service was A plus!!
Dingy decor, mediocre warmed over German Fair, good beer, better service. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon without a major update to kitchen practices to serve hot, fresh food.
Great outdoor setting. Good for breakfast and lunch. Haven’t tried dinner.
We ate at a mid-p.m. time purposely, and avoided others...very very few people inside ! Our choices were beef stroganoff and pork chops with chunky apples...delicious ! Chris made us feel at home. Dessert was apple strudel shared, with vanilla ice cream...Heavenly! Good and safe time !
Great outdoor eating area, well done & shady. Small lunch menu. Enjoyed a nice lunch with pleasant service. Will visit again!
I really like this place. Met some buddies the other night for some beers & food. Place was pretty empty, but it was a Wednesday night so to be expected. We requested a seat outside, and we were escorted out to the patio which was dark. They fired up the lights just for us! Waitress was attentive but not overbearing, the 22oz beers were nice and cold, and the food was great as always. Hard to believe with a massive outdoor space they aren’t busier. Definitely go to Ottos soon for some awesome brats and cold German beers!!
It was great to be back at Otto's for breakfast. So nice to see Tracy again.
Food was great as always, but we miss the "specials." We totally understand though. Hopefully we can soon resume having our monthly breakfast group meetings.
Had no idea they had a smaller menu these days than what is on the website, not listed anywhere. They were missing the one dish my wife and I both wanted to get, plus the main German side dish, Spätzle, they were out of too! How do they run out of this?? Menu was printed poorly, all crooked, no description of anything so we had to look them up on our phones at the table. Dish we both got was Sauerbraten, and it was like dried out pot roast with overly vinegar based gravy. Not good. Birthday dinner too, so disappointed. Used to go there often a little while ago, but will not be back.
There is still a restaurant around that serves German food! Actually, the menu has seafood, chicken and other options as well. Good service and large portions...the meals include sides and soup or salad, as well as bread. Plenty of parking and great German style bar. Biergarten for nice days outside.
First time there and great food
Terrific breakfasts at Otto’s! Outside seating is nice when weather is good. Only complaint is the women’s bathroom, with is extremely small and difficult to maneuver, even for an average sized person.
Made reservations. Not needed as no one was seated in dinning room, no one. Waited 13 minutes to be seated and another 5 to order drinks. Waited about 5 minutes for those. Remember, no crowd. Finally ordered. Main course must have been cooked the day before and reheated. Veal was tough and hard. Now, for a German restaurant you expect more to detail for german food. German potato salad is not small cut regular potatoes with a little bit of oil and a sprinkle of cut parsley. A gazillion miles from real german potato salad. Beets must have been sliced from a regular beet in a sloppy way. Looked and tasted awful, dry. No rolls. Shouldn't have had to ask for extra napkins when ordered wings. They were ok, pretty hard to screw up wings.
Basically it was a restaurant in German name only. Germans didn't own the place. Not one person came in during the entire time we were there.
We will never go back. It is what it is.
It was very enjoyable sitting outside in the beer garden. It was very clean and seating was not close to anyone!
Just a tired old place with awful food. Was always a fun spot but now it is way past it’s prime.
Excellent, authentic German food. Great potato pancakes and Pork Dusseldorf was outstanding.
Hostess was rather curt and unfriendly. Despite having a reservation we were seated in the beer garden not the outdoor dining area. People in the beer garden are allowed to smoke so we had to move our seats to not have secondhand smoke blowing in our face is all night. During Covid smoking should NOT be allowed. Also the dining area is well lit and the beer garden is quite dark. Waitress was great but service was really slow. Food was good except my steak was definitely well done and not medium as requested.
Excellent food, superb German and Czech beer, great ambiance. My favorite place for Octoberfest!!!
Outside seating was nice. The beer menu provided was not up to date. The spaetzel was gummy and tasteless. The schnitzel overcooked. Not a great dining experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed the live music, outdoor seating, and the German food ordered was delicious.
Great German dishes along with a lot of American favorites! Great atmosphere in the outside beer garden area. Large beer selection, both German, American, and Fall favorites to choose from.
Excellent waiter which made the whole outdoor experience so wonderful. The food was very good too.
My family loves going to Otto’s for their German food. We had the Jaeger Schnitzel and Chicken Schnitzel. The portions were large and everyone took leftovers home. The meals came with soup or salad and choice of 2 sides. We all got the potato pancakes (yum) and spaetzle. For dessert we got the homemade apple strudel. It was a huge portion with warm strudel and vanilla ice cream. Delicious!
We had a fantastic dining experience at your restaurant. Our server was both informative and personable. The delicious portions were generous; we totally enjoyed them a second time! Thank you! Patricia and David McGinnis
Very Disappointed with our meal and service. There were about 8 tables in the outdoor garden with only 1 server who also was the maitre d. Needles. To say service was extremely slow. Food was mediocre with a fairly limited menu compared to their usual extensive menu. Won’t be back.
Excellent evening — food, service, beer garden ambiance, all wonderful. And, they even had entertainment on Fridays nights. They had Steve Reilly playing guitar. All good!
Great evening. Got tasty German food and a tall beer. The music was good too.
I had business lunch reservations for 12:15, and when we got there on time there were very few guests and we waited for an additional 5 minutes to be seated. Long story short, while we were on our lunch hour, we were not served our food until after 1:00. Around an hour after eating two of us got very sick.
I hate to say anything bad about restaurants, I really do, but putting the getting sick aside, any restaurant that cannot have quick and speedy service during lunch hour needs to be called out on it. Good food, very slow service. And, two of us got sick. :(
Enjoyed dinner in the Biergarten. Draft mugs of beer, sauerbraten and schnitzel, spaetzle, cucumber salad, and beets.
We split the large slice of Black Forest cake with ice cream for dessert. Had enough leftover meat to have for lunch the next day.
We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Otto’s patio area on a pleasant evening. Our meals were of high quality, tasty, and more than plentiful, as we took home leftovers! We were served by the owner’s son, who was friendly and attentive...a great experience overall. :)
As a little girl I grew up in a small down and rarely went anywhere. As a teen I began visitinf my mother who married Douglas and moved to Horsham. He had money and loved ottos for years clear back in the 1970s.
Ottos became a tradition, when our family ( my husband and I) moved from Seattle to Pittsburgh we had a surprise party for my mothers birthday in your back room!
We always had at least one often 2-3 meals at ottos with mom and Doug.
11 years ago Douglas passed away and we had his wake in your back room.
I only get to Horsham now about every other year but I have money now to treat mother to ottos! And we just feel so close to Doug when we come!! It’s always so peaceful and the food!! Oh don’t get me started the revenues for true German dishes are perfect!! I married a German and his family has taught me the good stuff!!
When I came after this bit with Covid I’m sure you laughed to have me make a reservation when no one else was in the dinning room! But that was tradition and it just felt so good to come in Douglas’s name!!
When I heard you might close that things were so hard I CRIED!! So I came and took pictures and hope to find copies of the pictures on your walls to hang in my dinning room so I can have an Otto experience every night.
THATS WHY I ASKED FOR A MENUE!!
Enjoyed lunch with friend! Nice outdoor setting. Food was very good!
I will be back soon!
I wanted to support an independent, local restaurant with outdoor seating. Otto's came to mind, and we were not disappointed. I enjoy German-style food and down-to-earth service, which is what you get there.
