Well known but not pretentious. Warm environment in the restaurant and kitchen counter. Interesting and exciting vegetable forward menu
High end price for average & standard Mediterranean food, which is lacking in creativity. Service was hit or miss. Noisy and uncaring serving staff. Would not recommend and will not return.
Great food with amazing flavours. Warm reception and friendly staff. Recommend for lunch or dinner as they are both different dining experiences.
Always spot on for brunch. Never let's down out of town visitors. The charred focaccia is something else...
The food was fantastic : great mixes , tasty, a really good surprise . The wine were good. The restaurant is nice and airy. Service is nothing special, the usual London efficient and business like , in a hurry to get your bill and get you out of the way for the next party to get their time slot. Deserts are surprisingly boring and uncreative, nothing mediterranean about them, doesn't fit with the rest of the menu. In addition the three of us have had a small indisposition afterwards and we suspect the lamb. We question the fact as well that cold starters that waiters prepare are presented in the middle of the shop area where there is a lot of traffic and anybody can come and go and touch the food , without any protection. It did not feel very hygienic.
It had just started to rain when we arrived 15 minutes early, yet they found us a table and apologised for the fact it was a small one.(it was perfectly big enough for three. The salad dishes on display wetted our appetite, and after some sparkling water we chose our dishes; some hot some from the selection of salads. Flavour is what Ottolengi excels at. In both the hot dishes and cold salads the flavours of the Levant, and spices from the orient blend to give each dish a unique mouth stimulating adventure.
The staff are friendly and helpful but not over attentive and you never feel rushed despite how busy the restaurant is .we shall certainly be back in the future.
Very poor wine list by the glass - more attention should be put to review the wine list and include good quality/value choices.
Superb breakfast - excellent food and service. Recommend.
Staff were wonderful as was the food. best place for a dinner or lunch which is a little bit special.
Salads were nice and staff friendly but chicken was rubbery, salmon was over cooked and banana cake was dry and dense. Disappointed after loving the cook books.
The salads were lovely as ever - unfortunately I chose a goats cheese tart which was quite unpleasant - thick pastry, heavy tasteless cheese - I can make a better one myself! I do think the wine by the glass is a bit overpriced.
Good breakfast, good choice. Friendly service e
Lovely food usual ingredients and combinations. ...................
We always head to Ottolenghis for lunch when in London where we are assured of great food, fantastic service & welcoming atmosphere. Never lets us down
Great evening lovely food thanks!
Had a delicious lunch here on Monday. The food was outstanding, waiting staff friendly and helpful. Good advice regarding wine choice. Would recommend and definitely visit again.
Loved and followed Ottolenghi for years and his food definitely lives up to the hype. Delicious original and well priced with a good wine selection.
Delicious food and drink. Service a little cold and frosty.
The service was exemplary. Excellent communication and attention. However, following the cocktails & padron peppers the meal took a downward dive. The trout steak was heavily laced with bones rendering it a minefield to eat. The closure of patisserie were dry, so much so that even the crème anglaise could not revive it. The first time in my existence I have left a dessert unfinished. Quite disappointed by the end. Hope Yotem doesn’t get wind of this.
As usual, Spitalfield did not disappoint... there are always new creative ideas to be discovered. This autumns revelation for us: the herb salad accompagnying the fish and the lovely duck crocettes.
We´ll come back for sure.
I come here all the time and their service is always great, even though Ottolenghi restaurants are famous and have a reputation the staff are not snobby or pretentious. They are always well organised and are always a pleasure to interact with. In regards to the food the flavors of starters and mains they are always excellently executed and prices very reasonable for the quality. However I am more selective with the type of desserts I choose. The separately condiments and seasoning sold in separate jars i.e za-tar are priced quite highly for the quantity you receive - I have bought high quality za-tar for larger quantity elsewhere. Temperature of interiors always warm and air insulation always tight but not too stuffy. Lighting is not too dark but moody enough to create a very sociable and relaxed atmosphere. One of my favourite restaurants in London of all time! <3
Enjoyable lunch, would be nice if the lunch menu would be a little more comprehensive. Good variety of wines. Quality food is wonderful, very innovative and interesting cooking.
Level of noise was quite high, also a bit more space around the tables would be nice. I did not want listen to my neighbours personal arguments but had little choice in the matter. However, this would not stop me from going back.
ungewöhnliches Frühstück aber auf hohem Niveau
As always the food was fantastic with wonderful flavours. We All ordered and main and 2 different salads and it’s great fun to share. Broccoli with chilli is a winner.
I wasn’t sure whether the Italian white wine would be dry enough - the waiter got me a tasting glass ... which was a nice touch.
We also shared deserts and the chocolate tarte was divine.
My favourite place for lunch.
The service was excellent and we couldn’t have been better looked after. I was impressed with how seriously they took my dining partners complex allergies and dietary requirements and took the time to find dishes that were safe and delicious to eat.
We were surprised that none of the chocolate options were soya free, including hot drinks likes Mocha - this is the only thing that could be improved in an otherwise excellent experience.
Been trying to book this place on a Saturday for ages so delighted to finally make it. We had a bar seating and it was great to chat with staff while enjoying some pre-meal drinks. The food was ravishing, excellent quality and not too expensively priced. We will try to get there again soon when we are back in London.
Had a lovely meal, very attentive waiting staff & great vegetarian selection. Nice atmosphere. Only thing I would improve is the tidiness of the bathrooms!
This is one of my favourite places to eat in the area and, as always, we had a wonderful meal in very pleasant surroundings with great service. Many thanks.
I would visit Ottolenghi in Spitalfields again . The food was terrific and the location great
We had a super lunch, lovely staff who were speedy and efficient.
I had also mentioned in my online booking that there was a birthday
and my sister was given a lovely white chocolate tartlet, complete
with candle which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated.
Thank you everyone.
Heerlijk eten, leuk shared dining. De entourage is wel wat zakelijk en bediening ook.
This was my first time at Ottolenghi’s and it won’t be my last. I took a friend for lunch and was given seats at the bar. They were very comfortable. My friend doesn’t like spices so needed help ordering. She was very happy with her salads. I love spicy and had 3 salads: broccoli, cauliflower and an extra delicious aubergine. Didn’t have dessert but will come back one evening and try one; I’m sure it will be wonderful.
Enjoyed a lovely meal in very pleasant surroundings. The staff were great and helped to make our special occasion memorable .
As usual food is outstanding.
Service was outstanding
The food was really good and because we can share it makes it even a better experience.
Cocktail waiter created ad hoc wiskey sour and burnt orange martini with exceptional grace. Waiters were friendly, courteous and helpful, food was outstanding but timing s little hurried for the mains. Would have gone back for breakfast but other commitments prevented this. 11/10 experience.
Fun place with decent service but that’s where the accolades end. Every dish had at least two too many ingredients, many of which were incongruous with others. This is what happens when a chef overthinks the food. Nothing tastes like what it is.
Very delicious! Well done dishes with good wine. But the room was super crowded, and too small for that amount of people.
The food was outsanding, so was the ambiance. The first drinks order was a bit slow and disorganised, the waitress forgot one of the cocktails, we had to ask and remind twice. Once the cocktail arrived the rest of the service was smooth and efficient.
