Otoro Sushi Ratings and Reviews
This was some of the most overpriced sushi I have ever had. Sushi is expensive by its nature, and this one just went over the top. If it have been inventive and delicious, I would not have minded. But the food quality was mediocre at best, and tasteless as worst.
Hamachi carpaccio was outstanding!
Toro wasn't as good this evening. It's good but not like the ones you have in Japan. It lacks the natural sweetness.
Pork Belly, normally my fav, was a little on the sweet side.
Miso eggplant is very good.
Still will definitely come back though.
The sushi was great! Very fresh. Also had Nabeyaki Soba which was a little disappointing. Very sparse on substantive contents. Was mostly noodles and broth. Needs more of the other ingredients.
Otherwise service was great and our reservation got us past the queue immediately,
Had pre-theatre meal here with the wife and was not disappointed. One of the better sushi restaurants we've been to. Restaurant is small but lively on a Saturday evening. Everything we've had was excellent. The nigiri was fresh and some of the fish are straight from Japan (see the specials board). For appetizer, I went for the Agedashi Tofu and Shiitake Tsumire. For sushi, I had the Otoro, Hon-Maguro (Bluefin Tuna), Hamachi and Saba nigiri. Also had the Otoro special roll which was delicious! Wife also had the Tempura Udon which was flavorful. Everything was reasonably priced as our bill came out to just over $100, which included a bottle of Sake! No complaints about service as our waitress was attentive and friendly. Would definitely come here again when we're in the area.
We have been going to Otoro for the past four years. Consistently good, although this time our service was a bit off with some forgotten items. Prices seem to have inched a bit higher and fish slices have gotten a bit thinner but it is still a nice place to come when enjoying a dining experience in the city.
Overpriced for subpar sushi.
Service is off. Not enough attention to tables or dedicated servers per table. Host is not just attentive, friendly. "Just business" attitude.
I wouldn't go back.
Especially since I had mentioned when making my reservation that it was my bf's birthday dinner. Nothing special at all. I felt bad for it not being as special as it could've been.
When we walked in, they had our table ready to go. I was thankful I made a reservation. Little did I know, this would be the highlight of the evening. We waited almost an hour to get our food, which took us all of about five minutes to eat. The service was just horrible. The food was average at best, and even with the waitress knowing that the service was bad, there was no discount offered. A simple 10% off would have gone a long way with me.
Otoro never disappoints and that's why we keep coming back time after time, especially with friends and family eager for an authentic sushi experience where we can test there limits but also tickle their fancies. Cozy setting with great cuisine featuring the freshest seafood and excellent sake list makes for a winning combination.
