The food is always very good, staff always friendly.
We really enjoyed our dining experience at Ostra. Our server, John was amazing and very helpful in making our choices for appetizers, dinner and wine. The food was absolutely wonderful - very creative chef! I had sea bass and my date had bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. Both were very tasty and cooked to perfection! I certainly would return to this beautiful and intimate venue next time I am in San Antonio.
Delicious seafood! A little more hectic than I had imagined and it was right up close to the Riverwalk and there was no barrier. Still an enjoyable experience.
Taking my almost 101 year old mother to an evening on the river!
Wonderful food, great service, excellent swordfish
Ultra fresh, inventive, and beautifully presented seafood dishes accompanied by friendly and proficient servers. Delightful and sophisticated - but not stuffy - ambience. We did, in fact, visit again two nights later. A first rate house!
Excellent and attentive wait staff. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Food was good and the view by the River Walk was nice to see people enjoying an afternoon. Food was nicely prepared and portion appropriate. Overall a pleasant experience.
The food is meant for those who want to savor what they are eating. Although, the lighting was a little too dark for my taste, I know that many enjoy it. It does overlook the riverwalk but you wouldn't notice because of the lack of noise.
Fantastic, food service and atmosphere areelegant with the fun of the riverwalk. Patio seating is my favorite. Staff were extremely attentive. I eat here each time I am in SA.
Thank you for setting up a table for us. The meal was beyond delicious as well.
Best thing: The staff. Everybody was wonderful. Okay thing: the food. We had walked by the night before and the food LOOKED amazing, so we made the decision to dine there the next night. The reviews said the fried oysters were fantastic so I tried them. They were good, but not fantastic. Not a fan of the sauce they put on them. My mom and I each had the seafood pasta for dinner. She didn't like it at all and had to send it back (no real flavor in the sauce). I had not eaten all day, so ate the seafood out of it and left most of the pasta. As someone else said in another review -- not worth the price tag. I would try it again, but try something else next time.
Service was very slow on a night that was not busy.
No points = bad rating
Welcome to the real world where your rating reflects how you treat your customers.
Superbly done scallops in an interesting, very light curry sauce. The service personnel really know how the food is prepared. They don’t just rattle off the ingredients. I will definitely go back.
Amazing food and experience. Top restaurant in San Antonio by far. Highly recommend and request Jorge for incredible service.
Very good food and very attentive staff. Barramundi was not prepared very well, but they remedied it immediately.
Food not warm. Service was terrible.
I guess they thought we were tourists and not locals.
Recently fined at lunch and it was great. Of course server knew we were locals.
Good service. Long time to get food after ordering.
The only downside to sitting outside at this restaurant is its location next to a bar where people smoke, unless of course you’re into that cigarette smoke-meal combo.
Great service and food!
I’ve been several times. Service was terrible this time. Food took over one hour to arrive, server never checked on us, not even once. Terrible experience this time.
The Moscow Mule was below average. The seafood plateau was not good. The oysters were not appetizing. Shrimp were ok. Ceviche was average. The prices were exorbitant!!! $275 for a party of four with not very good food. We won’t be back.
So this place has potential but they need to step up an really serve fresh fish or do something else. Fish was disgusting. Order risotto pork belly. Great idea but it tasted like porridge. Can’t complain there’s no good restaurants at the Riverwalk except I gues bohanan’s. Will never go back
The ambiance at Ostra was lovely, a bit more casual than I had expected, but still lovely. The Mokara hotel itself is beautiful, too. My only complaint is the price we paid for our food, considering the delivery of it. We ordered the Ostra's chilled seafood tower with a pretty price of $189. The shrimp, ceviche, and oysters were fantastic. The lobster tails on the other hand were very difficult to eat. The kitchen did not detach the meat from the shell. Crab claws were a little overcooked as well. However, our server was great and even though I don't remember his name, I'd like to recognize how friendly, personable, and knowledgeable of the menu he was.
I highly suggest the bread pudding for dessert!
Pricing was a bit high for a lunch menu, but had a great dining experience and would go there again!
We chose one of the patio seats and the service started off with a 12 min wait to be greated, it only got worse as the waiter had too many tables, for this price point, better service is appropriate. The oysters were not shuked properly and we had to pry them loose. Bad experience overall
Lovely menu but fish was way undercooked and inedible. Waitstaff not very attentive so we were not provided with an opportunity to report our experience.
It was wonderful food. I sit outside when possible and wanted to be near river but the river walk was so crowded one couldn’t barely see the river. A constant flood of tourists. But food and service was great.
Elegant with superb service. It was a lovely evening topped off with great food.
Great seafood and raw bar. Great meal. Server a little too attentive telling us we can take the wine to our room if we do not want to finish it here.
Very nice dinner. Food was excellent. Service was good. We we’re visiting friends & had taken them out to celebrate. Would go again.
This was our 2nd visit to Ostra. We had to send our fried oyster appetizer back because the oysters were a bit under-done. Now, some of you might not mind that, but for our taste, we prefer them well-done. The server very politely offered to have another serving cooked for us, and they were perfect. We had the blackened redfish which was very good, and the sweet potato fries were very good too. They have a wonderful list of wines by the glass which is unusual. Most restaurants only have a few offerings by the glass. I'm sure will eat there again on another visit to San Antonio.
Great setting on the river with al fresco dining available. Enjoyed the parade of people streaming along the riverwalk. Had breakfast as well as lunch (separate occasions). Selections are adequate with some special meals. Excellent salads, receptive to alterations, friendly staff. Lobster roll was very good! Will return
Fine outdoor dining on the Riverwalk—what could be better? Excellent ambiance, good selections, and food well presented and tasty. Our only issue on this occasion was the crab addition to a salad didn’t taste fresh to my wife. The service was leisurely as well. The lobster roll was excellent. Will return.
Mother’s Day Dinner...! My mother loves red snapper and Ostra has the best!! Service was superb and the ambiance? ...well, it’s on the San Antonio Riverwalk...need I say more??!!
The food was great and quite nice to sit outside. It was s great Mother’s Day!
I was so disappointed in this restaurant. The only things we had that were good was calamari and ceviche. The kale salad is just big chunks of kale with dried apricots thrown in, the fish tacos are dry and very unappealing. Service was terrible....we had to ask for silverware twice, servers are very inattentive. Love the location on the river, but that’s about it! We would not go back.
Always enjoy this restaurant on the river. Food and service is great and the people watching is always enjoyable.
Oysters were shucked ok. Half of them had grit but thats on par for san antonio. Im not one for salt but risotto was horribly under seasoned. Scallopes appeared seared nicely but where raw in the middle. Coconut curry was very unbalanced in spice. Good restaurant for the riverwalk but i wouldnt go there again. To many better options in san antonio.
Great restaurant on the San Antonio Riverwalk . Excellent food, service and oyster shooters (if you're a fan). We had a great evening there with friends and will return!
