Absolutely freezing. I understand restaurants are doing their very best but to have one rinky dink heater (only at one table that cannot be moved once the table leaves because there are no extension cords on sight) is insane. The tent only blocked the wind not the cold the food is always great but this time it was only good because it just got too cold to enjoy it. All restaurants are running with limited staff but with that the server, manager needs to be more aware of their guests as the lag between ordering/receiving the food and drinks was way to long.
I got the chicken Mario and the chicken was dry. The Margarita pizza was OK nothing special because the tomato sauce overpowered everything. My margarita drink was not done well and they kindly changed it for me.It was better the second time around but by the time they got it to me I was already done with my food and only had a sip of it and just wanted to go. They took it off the bill without even asking so that was nice. Overall the staff is nice, the manager checked on us and apologized for my drink experience.
The food was great.
The food and ambiance were really good. However the staff forgot it was my friend’s birthday despite me having told them about it
I have visited this restaurant many times in the past, and always left feeling grateful, happy, full, and a wanting to quickly return.
However, after my visit just last weekend, not only did none of those past feelings return, I left feeling frustrated as to how something so great could have turned so bad.
We went on a Saturday night, as a surprise for my boyfriends 38th birthday. The night began with the waiter not willing to slightly move the heater closer to our table. Although we had seen the manager move the heater several times, our waiter had no intention of making the evening more comfortable for us. When ordering cocktails, we requested one of them to be made less sweet; cant be done since they are all pre-batched said the waiter. Since when is an old fashion pre-batched, without a bartender being able to recreate such a classic simply made recipe?
When ordering blue cheese olives, the waiter immediately, stated, "oh, we are out of those". From forgotten food items, to complete disregard of respectfulness of customers, it was an overall disappointment.
Given the state of the economy, when we are all trying to do our best to live safely, smile with our neighbors, and support the local businesses, this was not a night to remember.
If anything comes out of this review, I hope this restaurant gives a second look at their waitstaff, to make certain customer retention remains a top priority. Now is not the time to lose business, as we all know, negative word of mouth quickly spreads if no recovery to the experience is given.
Cozy space that makes you feel like you are in a small Italian restaurant. Great food and service !
The food was delicious and the portions were satisfying. The waitstaff was attentive without being annoying. The outdoor seating was socially managed. A great deal is that drinks and pizzas were half priced from about 5 to 6pm. I highly recommend this restaurant. A special note is that I was at RPM Italian the prior week and my experience was almost totally opposite of that at the Osteria Via Stato.
Second time we have visited for happy hour. Sat outside. Great service.
It was my wife’s birthday staff was Excellent!
We sat outside and the heaters were wonderful. The food was good, my friends and I shared an app, 2 pastas and a pizza and all were excellent. For COVID precautions then tables were far apart, they took our temperature, and everyone was masked up. It was great.
The food just isn’t that great - exceedingly average really. It’s popular/busy, but you can do much better. The sidewalk dining is the best feature. It’s not “bad”, but it certainly isn’t “good”
Osteria Via State never fails to exceed expectations. The food, drinks, service, and overall aesthetic of the restaurant was the perfect dinner.
305 Earl H Was one of the best waiters I have ever had which I told him and that’s why I gave the experience overall an outstanding rate
We had a great time at Osteria Via Stato! We had a three course meal as a part of their restaurant week, and everything was excellent. There was a wedding party happening in another part of the restaurant that was getting pretty rowdy, but they seated us far enough away that my fiancé and I could still have privacy and hold a conversation at a normal level. Would recommend for a nice dinner, as it was on the pricey side.
So clean and follows all current covid guidelines respectfully! Food is fantastic as usual.
Consistently delicious food & delightful staff
Exceptional service with delicious food at a reasonable price.
The cocktail and bread with roasted garlic was amazing. The pasta was mediocre, shouldn't have set expectations so high. Nice location and decor.
Rosh Hashanah—second night. The meal was decent! The pizza, however, stole the show...the mushroom and vidalia onion was TO DIE FOR...as was the burrata salad with amazing heirloom tomatoes.
Our Server was fantastic! She was attentive, funny, and knowledgeable, which made our experience so much more pleasant. Well done; we’ll be back!!
Birthday. Service was excellent.
Debra was great
Good selection of food
had a great happy hour with a friend here! super nice staff
great food and service
Excellent service! The waitress was so helpful and accommodating (I assume the kitchen was very flexible as well) they were able to make few combinations for us that weren’t listed on the menu at the time.
service is poor because they assign many table to one waitress only. The food quality was variable, pasta was good but Risotto with bacon was a big joke.
the pizza was hard and tough to eat.
then the bill was exuberant in relation to to the poor service and bad food
I had a lovely evening. Kudos to Earl for great service.
Great first date spot — no pressure, good enough ambiance, really good food, not too expensive
We absolutely love this place. Every time we go the food is amazing and the staff is unbelievable. By far our favorite italian place in the city.
Went for the heirloom tomato menu. Soooo good! Panzanella and burrata were perfection.
Food was amazing!! Service was impeccable. Our server, Dario is consistently the best server!! Everything here is amazing from the bread, to the pasta to the pizza to dessert!
The food was light and delicious we shared the roasted garlic bread which was lite and airy with a wonderful buttery taste. We ordered the greek chicken salad that was awesome, a meal in itself. The shrimp, spinach and angel hair pasta was lite with a nice kick .
10/10 would go again
Waiter was excellent!
Great food, service and atmosphere on the patio. Lots of safety practices in place. Dario and Jorge gave us great service and made our family dinner wonderful.
Excellent food and amazing service!!! Great patio, too:)
Fabulous food and great, clean and friendly service.
