Wonderful dinner with family over a long holiday weekend. Cold outside but warm, cozy and very hospitable inside Osteria. Tyler W was a wonderful waiter - he was gracious and able to answer questions we had about dinner menu. Husband and Daughter had the Filet... and I had the Mario Chicken with the Italian Family style Dinner.
Amazing! Daughter did the “bring me more wine” pairing with the multiple Courses.
We had a great desert Ricotta Cheese Cake with Huckleberry sauce and Rachel had the Peppermint Gelato with chocolate sauce.
Never disappointed we LOVE it here.
The service at Osteria Via Stato is always phenomenal. The wait staff always knows and is available to answer any question. They are very knowledgeable about the menu overall and substitutions in case of allergies.
The food is cooked very well and is incredibly fresh. The wine list and drink list is extensive and could fit any group or singular person.
We happened to dine in the winter so we were inside. The temperature was perfect. The atmosphere was lively and busy, but I wasn’t hearing other conversations outside of my group, which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
This was our first time at Osteria Via Stato, but will not be our last. Perfect for casual Italian dining. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Everyone said the pasta was great, as were the scallops and risotto of the day. The roasted garlic in oil that was served to the table upon arrival was outstanding. Could have made a meal of it. Would recommend to anyone for a good Italian meal.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. My husband had the 30 year aged filet and I had the parmesan crusted filet. Both were melt in your mouth and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and staff was extremely attentive.
Darco was a fabulous server. We had a wonderful evening.
Good seafood linguini and seafood stew. The bread and garlic balsamic was outstanding. The waiter was very attentive.
Our server, Earl, was fantastic. Right on with his recommendations and his pace of service was great. I had the seafood stew, that I really enjoyed, and my wife had the chicken Mario which she really liked.
Delicious food and very friendly staff! We had a wonderful time and will be back again.
Good brunch variety including plenty of protein plus bottomless mimosas
Osteria is our go to while in Chicago! Located on festive State Street with a festive vibe to it! The food is outstanding and the service is second to none! You will enjoy the restaurant whether it is for happy hour, date night, family night or business. You won't leave disappointed! And it has an entrance on the the main floor of Embassy Suites! A great restaurant for hotel guests!
We had an excellent experience for New Year’s! The waiter was amazing and catering towards our gluten allergy. We will be back again.
Had a New Year’s eve dinner there - great menu and wonderful quality!
We had reservations for NYE and we were seated rather quickly. It was just my husband and I for dinner. The service was great! The waitress came back constantly even through she had at least 4 other tables with bigger parties. My water was getting filled and she even checked on our soup when it was not coming out on time. The food was excellent! I was in a pretty tight dress for NYE so my husband and I just shared plates for our courses. We had the butternut squash soup, caprese salad, ricotta cavatelli pasta, roasted chicken marsala, apple crostada, and a caramel macchiato. All were pretty delicious and we were both full at the end. It is definitely a place that we will frequent again!
We celebrated New Years Eve here. The bread was amazing, and we ordered meatball appetizers which we really enjoyed. We shared a pasta and an entree which they split for us. The food and service was really good. We will definitely go back again.
Waiter did a great job. It took a bit too long to get our main course, but it was very good.
Second time here. Loved it just as much the first time.
Wonderful experience! Food was outstanding and since it was our anniversary they gave us a complimentary slice of cheesecake which was amazing! Our first time here and will definitely return.
Have dined here several times before and we are never disappointed! Food is always excellent!
The food was very good to exceptional. I don’t like giving recommendations because you can simply catch a wonderful place on an off night. However, I have been a frequent diner/gold card Lettuce Entertain You patron since 1990. I have taken clients and family to their restaurants for almost 3 decades precisely for two reasons: the food was always exceptional and the service exemplary. You compared other restaurants to Lettuce venues and their only benchmark was themselves.
In my opinion way too often the food is still amazing the service is not on par. I’m not talking about hard stuff, but simple things like getting your appetizers before the drinks arrive and then wait another 7-8 minutes for a straw.
This stuff was incomprehensible in the past. Now it is the norm. I think the reason is because there are too many LEYE restaurants and finding quality long lasting servers that stay, offer consistency and actually look like they care is hard to find.
The only LEYE restaurant that offers the gold standard service from 20 years ago is Antico Posto. I’m sure there are more but it is disappointing to spend $200 taking your family to dinner and feel unsatisfied because of mediocre service from beginning to end.
It seems like to continue to grow and truly be great again you have to develop and retain servers so the diners can truly appreciate the often amazing food offerings.
Service was terrible- slow, inconsiderate, replied to concerns with excuses. 1 diners entree came more than 10 mins after the rest. We ended up receiving exceptional service from a man who was not even a waiter but was polite and working his tail off.
Fantastic experience! Highly recommend. Great service, delicious food and wonderful atmosphere.
Was packed and so much noise. Food was nice but further no attention to it.
Great food, efficient service, accommodating staff.
Yes, it was Christmas Eve, busy night, Had 6PM reservation, but did not receive our entrees til over an hour after ordering. Small portions, the scallops were very good, the seafood linguine mediocre at best. Grilled octopus app was rubbery, calamari app, nothing special. The server had no personality, never did a food check. Did leave an 18% tip as suggested on the bill, but should not have. The desert apple crostada was a joke, maybe 4 bites at best. There are so many other great Italian restaurants in the city, won't return.
Slow and bad service. The restaurant is clearly understaffed. The waiters, hosts and bus boys are always jogging or running, creating a stressful dining environment. It took 15 min for anyone to show up at our table and take our drink order. Our waiter kept putting his hands all over me and my partner and touching us on the hands, arms, backs and heads.
Great Value for the money if you get fixed menu. It was more than two could possibly eat in one sitting. We had it for dinner the next day and we were full. Delicious options; good service and not too crowded on the Sunday before Christmas. You can never go wrong with Lettuce Entertain You restaurants.
It was my wife’s birthday celebration. The restaurant / dining area had a sour moldy smell. it really put a damper on the meal and the experience. The food was just ok. There was no acknowledgement of my wife’s birthday
Visited this restaurant with my wife and 3 kids. Staff was very friendly and they have a nice kids menu. The restaurant serves AMAZING bread on the table (always a must when we eat out). Hot, fresh and has a sea salt crust. The menu is very broad so covers a wide range of guests. Extensive wine list (although our first choice they were out of). We ate at 530 on a Sunday night and it was very busy. The service was friendly, but felt like it could have been a little quicker, especially towards the end. I would visit here again.
Really good Italian food in a comfortable setting!
Love the food here and our server Marcus was awesome!
The dinner was just delicious! One of the best steaks I’ve had, and very friendly staff. Would definitely eat here again.
Love the Lettuce group. Osteria is a great Italian place for a small or larger group. Good food, service and location.
Good food, good ambience. One of our leftovers were accidentally thrown away when waiter took them back to the kitchen - so they made us a new order to go!
We love going to Osteria via Stato and having the Dinner Party. We love sharing small plates and the Dinner Party has great plates to share of roasted garlic to slather on their wonderful bread to start. The mini meatballs in their "simple" tomato sauce were so good we ate more bread in that sauce! There was also polenta with ragu which we loved. The main courses were the seafood stew, chicken marsala, and the short rib. Oh my, were they wonderful! This is one of our favorite places!
Worst brunch experience ever. At 1:30pm many of the buffet food items were dried out, picked over, or no longer available and the host was very slow to greet and seat us and dining staff seemed burnt out and mostly just waiting for the end of shift at 3pm to leave (like it was annoying we were making them work). Upon my complaining, service did try to make amends but the food was beyond repair. I have enjoyed this place many times but never tried "brunch buffet special" ($35 bucks per head) and never will try it again.
Nice place horrible brunch - go some other time and its fine.
Was lucky to have had a promotional deal for their Sunday brunch, otherwise $70 + tax and tip for two is definitely not worth it! Limited items available for buffet-style brunch and presented poorly - looked like a sad Holiday Inn breakfast spread. Service was great and mimosas certainly helped, but wouldn't go back.
Great food, great service
What an amazing place! We got the Italian dinner party special, which was an excellent value for a 3 course meal. We had veal meatballs, creamy polenta, and field greens with apples and walnuts for the first course. I cannot remember the type of pasta for the second course, but it was absolutely delish - light white suce with lots of flavor. My entree was the short rib over potato puree, and my date’s entree was swordfish. Everything was cooked to perfection. Great romantic spot. Amazing service. Drink a were delish. We loved it all and will definitely be back!
Our server Earl was exceptional. He made wonderful suggestions .
The osso buco was delicious as was the seasonal risotto.
We went for the new Sunday brunch buffet (which I am normally pretty skeptical off as the quality of food at a buffet rarely meets my standards) but the brunch included bottomless mimosas so we figured we would get our $ worth regardless. Well turns out the food was really good, the mimosa's we're higher end than most bottomless options and our server was AMAZING. I believe his name was Earl and I would literally go back for his service and entertainment alone.
