Food was poor at best. Service fine. Value below average.
The filet was amazing! The gnocchi was perfect. Even the garlic oil and bread at the beginning of the meal was excellent.
Absolutely wonderful! We would recommend this brunch to anyone.
The server in the bar area was rude and pushy. The manager Evan was not nice. Although we moved to the restaurant area where server Rick L.was perfect and the very best anyone could ever want. He was friendly and personable and very accommodating.
Waiter was really friendly, and came to us good timing to order food or drinks. The most pleased thing is that we could share the menu with separated dish.
Our favorite place for a date night out in Chicago. Always a lovely experience!
Thank you for the wonderful dining experience! It was a great place to celebrate my recent engagement with my boyfriend
Delicious italian food! Even came with a very flavorful oil and balsamic vinegar to dip homemade fresh bread in!
We came here and celebrated my sister’s birthday. It was our first time at Osteria Via Stato and it did not disappoint! After going in and seeing how nice it was I was shocked we were able to get a reservation on a Friday night! This establishment has an amazing ambiance, very calming and cozy for a small get together, but also has a slight fancy undertone that makes it just as great for a special occasion! We had a guest who was gluten free and we were pleased to hear they had a gluten free menu and were very accommodating to her needs! Our server was amazing! He gave great recommendations and was very attentive despite having many tables of large parties. I informed the hostess of our celebration and they brought a very nice dessert that said happy birthday on the plate and even had a candle placed in it! I’m not sure how well known this restaurant is in the Chicago area, but I’m shocked there’s not a line around the corner waiting for a table! My advice to everyone is to come here before it gets to that point because it will definitely be like that once word gets out! We also had a very nice gentleman take my sisters overnight bag and jacket to coat check and when he saw our dinner was winding down even brought out to her. It was a little loud, but I suspect it was due to it being a Friday night and there were several large parties around us. Overall an amazing experience and we will definitely be back again!
Service was great. Seafood stew was very good and so was the seafood linguini if you like spicy.
Overall food was ok to good. Pasta was over cooked and mushy. The pizza did not have a lot of flavor, however the caprese salad and the veal meatballs were outstanding. The noise level bordered on extreme at some times, but that was most likely the 15 sorority girls sitting next to us.
The brunch was delicious.
Exceptional service from Gabriel (Gabe), and the brunch is a real value. Many delicious options to fill up on!
From the ambiance to the food and the amazing service from Mike, this was our first time and we love everything about this fabulous place!!! We will For Sure be back!!🍷❤️XOXO
Girls weekend in Chicago
Went to Osteria Via Stato for a birthday dinner w/ my wife. Our server was awesome and provided us a great overview of the menu and specials. Staff overall was very attentive. Our meals were perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious!
Great food and service. Loud large party next to us detracted from ambience
Great food service was a little slow.
We are repeat customers for their sunday brunch. Great food, with a good variety.
The handmade gnocchi just melted in my mouth. Outstanding. The before dinner garlic and bread was fantastic
Waited over 10 minutes for valet, but once seated, the evening improved greatly. The calamari was excellent, and our filets were cooked to a perfect “medium.” While the ambiance was fine, the restaurant could use a little updating. The wait staff was very good, too.
Earl was an amazing server, he was very attentive which greatly enhanced our dining experience. The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect!
I picked a lettuce entertain you restaurant because I thought they could handle Valetine’s day Dinner service, but I was wrong.
Even with a reservation we were seated 45 minutes late. We were seated at a lone awkward table between the kitchen door and the wait station. The uncoordinated dinner service was surrounded by the overwhelmed wait staff tripping over one another.
I didn’t think a dinner service that should have been an hour to an hour and a half would have taken two and a half hours.
The food was good and our server was very nice, but that was about all that was enjoyable.
Great Valentine’s Day deal!!
My overall experience at Osteria Via Stato was an 8.5/10. My favorite part about the meal was the amazing bread with the roasted garlic and olive oil. Also, I thought the restaurant had a great ambiance, wide variety of wine selection, and plenty of menu options. I didn't like how you had to order everything right away (before 7pm) if you didn't want to chose the Valentine's menu. Other than that this would have been a 10/10!!!
Everything was nearly perfect, except the chicken. Normally I stick with beef or pork, but there was no pork on the menu this time, so we tried the chicken and would steer away from it in the future. However, I highly recommend this place it is always an extremely pleasurable dining experience!!
Best Italian experience I’ve had in Chicago. Highly recommended.
We come to Osteria every year for our anniverary and love it. Great atmosphere, service, and of course amazing food. Their restaurant week menu is the best! Delicious 3 course meal of their best dishes and all for a very fair price... all of this makes it a highlight of our trip to Chicago and has kept us coming back each year for the last several years. We’ll be back again next year!
Came here for their Restaurant Week menu. It was a lot of food. Everything was great, I just took 1/2 of it home with me.
We started with some bread and balsamic garlic, which was quite tasty. We shared the meatballs, arugula salad with dates and bacon and each had a bowl of soup, all of which was very good. My friend had the short ribs and I opted for the vegetable farro dish. Again, very rich and filling. We both got a scoop of the hazelnut chocolate gelato and a glass of the tawny port.
I would definitely come back here, but just not order from a fixed menu again.
Not sure which glass of red wine you want? Here are a couple to taste. Gluten free? Here is the Gluten Free menu, and you can also request that the Restaurant Week items be made Gluten Free. Parmesan Sweet Onions? Holy Carmelized Lushness. Scallops sweet and properly cooked with a lovely browned surface. Ask for Shrimp and Mushrooms and Alfredo on Gluten Free pasta - a combo not on the menu- and the server immediately says “Of Course”, doesn’t even need to check with the Chef. They are all about serving their customer.
It was "ok". People were pleasant. Food was ordinary; no one dish could be described as interesting or outstanding.
This is a very robust Sunday Brunch Buffet. Atmosphere was lovely, wait staff attentive and helpful, and the food was delicious! Too many choices to be able to try everything, but our group of 4 managed to try almost everything. And absolute favorite was the chicken marsala, but that is not to take away from anything else. An excellent choice; highly recommend.
My husband and I enjoyed a delicious weekend brunch buffet. I definitely thought it was a great value and a good way to sample multiple offerings from the restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the pork roast, pasta dishes, breads and desserts in addition to breakfast items. The servers were very courteous and accommodating.
The only issue we experienced was that there is one unisex shared bathroom, and there was a line.
We'll be back!
We went to brunch on Saturday. The food and service were outstanding! We are looking forward to coming back again soon!
The service was great and the server knew a lot about the menu! It looks like a smaller restaurant but it’s actually has another section for dinning! Drinks were great and overall atmosphere was great for a date night!
Birthday good fun!
Delicious food, great for families with the family style. Atmosphere is terrific! The meatballs are delicious!
Excellent restaurant with great food, excellent service, very nice workers, a great menu, very good wine selections plus cocktails and beer. Quiet with a cozy, romantic ambiance. Definitely recommend this place!
Amazing food and drinks! We had the greatest waiter, made sure we had everything we needed. It was a perfect brunch date!
