I made a reservation on OpenTable, and had to back it up. Easy! It was a gorgeous day and the outdoor seating was full. We were sat at a table in the bar, which was a tad on the darkish side. The focaccia bread we ordered also came with a plate of roasted garlic in olive oil (yum.) my husband had the rainbow trout. I had the caccia e pepi (sp.?) Both were pretty good. No desert for us. The server was attentive and experienced.
Our waitstaff was amazing and the food was fantastic. Everything exceeded expectations.
We came here while visiting Chicago. Great food and friendly service! We will definitely be back the next time we're in town.
Great food and service in a lively location. The pizza is excellent.
Debbie was our server and she was fantastic! Food was awesome as always. My boyfriend (now fiancé) and I came here on our first "real" date and got engaged there yesterday! Amazing restaurant, amazing experiences.
Great menu especially for sharing. Fantastic drinks and wine list! Have never been disappointed .
We’re expecting outdoor dining but we’re moved inside to a dining room that was fairly stark. Waiter was slow to take our order but the food came out quickly and it was very good. Spendy for the meal when the night before we had better service and wine at another Italian restaurant close by.
Server was arrogant and rude. He did not bring things ordered and we had to ask again. They are living on their pre-pandemic reputation. So sad.
The food wasn’t anything special.
The waitress was very nice but should have told us that the salad that came with the trout was really only a garnish. We would have ordered salads if we knew that.
Outstanding as usual!!!
Very pleasantly surprised. Reserved based on cacio e pepe on menu, and changed mind to mushroom and sweet onion pizza, adding sausage. It was absolutely amazing, ultra thin, firm crust in the classic Chicago style, nicely layered with tasty sauce ingredients and a perfect amount of cheese. Polpettini (meatballs) appetizer in tomato sauce was nicely accompanied by the excellent bread. My wife's entree, pasta with oil and garlic was similarly a home run. I would say this is one of the gem's in the LEYE crown, stumbled upon almost by accident by virtue of being able to get a reservation late. Ambience, such as it is, is virtually non-existent, at least inside, but don't let the rather institutional decor deter you from going. One of the best pizzas in Chicago, and I grew up on the South Side, home of great pizza. I highly recommend it.
We were placed in the bar area despite making reservations 2 weeks in advance. Food wonderful. Server attentive. 2 complaints: 1. Bread is no longer complementary?? Never have experienced that before. Comes out with roasted garlic and they charge you $5.95 for that . 2. Bill states No Cash only credit cards. Then they proceed to charge $5.47 for CC processing! For real! Reason given by waiter was extra cost for covid cleaning. NEVER have had this since Covid has occurred. Nickle and diming customers.
The food is incredible, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, the service is fantastic, and the atmosphere is great. We love this place!!!
Dario was an awesome waiter and George hustles all night bringing food and keeping our table cleared and water full. Great staff and excellent food.
Very busy yet felt adequately attended to. Food was above average and a fair value.
Great meal. Specifically mentioned in the reservation that it was our 42nd anniversary. Never acknowledged by any staff. Disappointing! Doesn’t staff read notes?
beautiful outdoor seating! Attentive waitstaff and host, food was so delicious!
The food was delicious, the service really slow and not very friendly. We were given the check without asking if we wanted dessert.
The ciabatta with garlic was awesome!
Great food, service and evening we will be back!!!
Excellent food and service. Their pizzas are outstanding and I love their braised short ribs. For drinks, I had an Old Fashioned. A bit sweet, but still excellent.
The food was delicious! Be aware of the added 3% automatic gratuity - it was written in small print at the bottom of the menu but was not mentioned to us specifically, and we would not have been aware of it while we were tipping if we hadn't observed it ourselves.
Date night with hubby!! Loved the waiter! Extremely accommodating!
Always yummy and the service is top notch! There were two of us and we feasted. We started with the delectable bread and roasted garlic, then a margarita pizza, then roasted chicken breast with broccoli and a salad. The waiter reminded us that we were there a few minutes before 6 pm, so could take advantage of Happy Hour with glasses of wine.
Casual Italian affair. The pizzas are quite thin. They are all 11 inches. If you are used to a regular pizza, you might need two for satiety. Simple menu. Desserts are nice too. Recommend! 👍🏼
Service was good. The specialty pizza was better than I imagined, thin and crispy. Pasta was light, ingredients were fresh and filling.
Great outdoor dining for our family of 4. Boys are 12 and 15 and were entertained people watching as we ate. Mike our sever was knowledgeable about the menu and did a fabulous job.
We were told the main dining room was closed even though I reserved a table in standard seating, not the bar. It then surprised me to see other diners get seated in the main dining room as the night went on. Also, the menu was cut back and they now charge you almost $5 for bread, which used to be free. Overall, a bit disappointed with this place’s decline. It used to be a favorite.
The staff at Osteria were so attentive and helpful. The food was great for a great price. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone in Chicago.
It was a busy Friday night, service was very slow. Outdoor patio is lovely, but very noisy on that street in River North on the weekends.
The experience was great and the service was good as usual. Love this place and will definitely come back.
Food came out very fast and was delicious! Friendly and receptive staff.
Food was terrible, items came out in a terrible order, they forgot a lot of our items. I will not go back.
Ms Debbie was amazing she took care of my nieces and nephew
