Lovely casual meal. We had the meatballs, the warm bread with roasted garlic and 2 pizzas. The 4 of us shared these. And I had a nice glass of wine. The ambiance is great too.
Service was great as always— they never disappoint in treating guests great. HOWEVER— not only did they raise the price of the Italian Night Out, but they used to give you 2 salads and 2 pastas— now just one — AND the entree upcharges are WAY out of control—time for me to find a new “favorite” restaurants ....
Great food! Start there. Waiter was good - timing of meal, knowledge of wine list. It was a bit too loud for my taste. The ambiance was good. It really felt like a town in Italy.
Thank you for the great review! Sorry it was a bit too loud for you.
Great food and service. The family style was a very good deal.
Took way too long (40+ minutes) for food to arrive after ordering. Waiter did offer a complimentary dessert, which we swapped out for a complimentary lass of wine. Quite frankly, food quality was disappointing. I dine frequently for both business and personal. This was suppose to be a casual personal evening. Overall - very disappointing.
For parties over 6 people, they insist you order from a price fix menu
I had a drink at the bar before dining. I observed a server refilling soft drinks at the bar while he “grazed” on the fruit at the bar. After drinks were filled, he spent time, a lot of time, chatting with the bartender. People were waiting for their drinks. He was our server for dinner.
Service was ok. I’ve dined at Osteria 20 times in the past 3 years & this time our server was not nearly as polished and focused on details( checkback, refilling water or wine) as every time before. Yes, I was not impressed because of his actions prior to him becoming my server, but he left me wondering where the “wow” was from prior visits.
We didn’t realize the New Year Eves menu would be different from everyday but it was a five course meal every course delicious!
The food was delicious. Our waitress was very nice.
Great Restaurant in menu. We went for New Year’s Eve in each course was outstanding. Our server was excellent allowing us to linger a bit at the table
We went to this restaurant for the first time on New Year's Eve. As busy as the night was the service was excellent. The food is beyond delicious and the place is just lovely. I was especially impressed as I asked for a pasta dish that is generally a meat dish to be turned vegetarian. The chef did a wonderful job without any delay in us getting our food.
I pretty much like all the Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, and this is one of their best. Highly recommended!
Great meal great service and a lovely table.
The pizza we had was very good. However, the pasta was not the quality nor caliber I would expect in a downtown Italian restaurant.
Delicious food—especially loved the cavatelli (though I’m vegetarian, so no meat—still delicious). Guests enjoyed a seafood pasta and another vegetable shrimp pasta and loved those as well. Wonderful plentiful tiramisu to share topped it off. Honestly it was a great cozy setting where we could eat and talk and truly enjoy ourselves without being rushed.
The tables are very close together. As a result it felt like it was loud, perhaps because people had to yell to hear the conversation at their own table over the table next to them. The beef carpaccio was just okay. It would have been better with capers and fresh Parmesan cheese. It was interesting that they also didn’t have fresh Parmesan rather than the attempt to “disguise” what was kraft Parmesan cheese.
On the positive the service was great and the complimentary sparkling water was much enjoyed.
Always amazing! One of our favorite spots!
Loved it. There were five of us and we could hear each other. Waiter was great and food was super. We were not rushed at all
We had a wonderful feast of the seven fishes on Christmas Eve.
I had waited for years to experience The Feast of the Seven Fishes. Osteria Via Stato did not disappoint, it was absolutely AWESOME!!!! Every single person from the young woman at the desk to the servers/waitress was friendly and accommodating. I have been bragging about my experience to anyone who will listen...LOL
Thank you, thank you, thank you for exceeding my expectations.
Delicious food. Great waiter. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing! We will be back for sure
Great food, great atmosphere! We had a fabulous family holiday party. We will be back!
Excellent food and service. Loved the quieter ambiance; you can actually talk to each other.
Our waiter, Marcus, was terrific - very engaging without interfering, and provided good recommendations. Food was excellent and wine list was quite good.
We went here for brunch with Santa. Kids under 12 were free. Bottomless mimosas and bellinis were included. The cost of the brunch was $34.95. This was the cheapest meal we had while in Chicago and the best. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious! Our server was fantastic. When we got there, we were one of the only ones there. It got much busier but she still visited our table often. My Bellini glass was kept filled. Santa was very good. Children were given lots of personal attention. This was s wonderful experience. We will be back!
So noisy we could not talk! So much oil on the food !!! Way too oily!!
We love coming to this restaurant. Overall it’s one of our favorite restaurants in the city. Food is great. Service is great. Drinks are great. I’d change nothing about this restaurant. They also have a great vegetarian selection and a great wine list.
Great food and wonderful service. We also appreciated the birthday dessert on the house.
We love to come for the “Dinner Party” - which starts off with roasted garlic in balsamic & oil on their wonderful bread. The start also included white bean salad, polenta with duck ragu, and my favorite potatoes in aoili. They fry the potatoes so they are crunchy outside and soft inside which are wonderful, and then they add aoili to it to make them spectacular! That’s the start of this party! Then we had a wonderful pasta with spinach and creamy tomato sauce. The main entrees were every bit as good - the short rib was amazing, along with the trout with artichoke and spinach. Overall a very memorable meal!
Good food, pleasant ambiance. Bathroom needed serious cleanup.
Phenomenal food! Well done
Wonderful food. Real Italian. Fabulous crusty bread as well. Great wait staff.
A lovely cozy restaurant! There are 2 restaurants-one is a bar and pizza restaurant, perfect place for a casual pizza, sandwiches, salad, etc, with a cozy and rustic ambiance-perfect for a cold winter night. The pizza has a very thin crust-delicious! There is a more formal restaurant connected which is lovely, great atmosphere, very cozy with excellent service and unique menu with great food. Our dishes were excellent! I had the trout with sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes, the trout was outstanding! My husband had the shrimp and pasta dish and loved it. The bread basked was filled with very crusty sour dough bread served with balsamic vinegar/oil and we also received a complimentary starter of baked onion topped with tasted like cheddar cheese-very good. Again, the restaurant was perfect for a beautiful dinner in a cozy, quiet and lovely restaurant. Our server was great, very attentive and made it an extra special dining experience. We will definately go back again and again when visiting Chicago!
Great menu! Fabulous service. Very attentive staff. Plenty of great wines for all tastes. Will be back!!
Honestly one of my favorite places to go for Italian food when I'm in Chicago!!
This is my second visit, while attending an annual professional conference nearby. Our group had a round table in the corner this time; much nicer than the rectangular table in the middle of the room last time. The food is reliably tasty and well-prepared. We would rate it not quite outstanding, but excellent. Service is professional and friendly. The atmosphere is warm and lively. Recommended.
Great place to eat, a must try if you’re in the area
Excellent, cozy, very nice, good food, we had great time.
Really enjoyed the service, but unfortunately our dinner experience was just ok.
