Located in the picturesque West Marin town of Point Reyes Station, Osteria Stellina offers a delicious, intimate, farm-to-table dining experience. Known for our local and seasonal cuisine, we strive to showcase the bounty of West Marin on every plate. Our ingredients are sourced from the surrounding regions many farmers, ranchers, and fisherman; each dish reads like a sophisticated blue plate special, comprised of what's close and plentiful on a given day. The result is a creative, clean, farm fresh menu we like to call "Point Reyes Italian". Osteria Stellina's daily lunch and dinner menus include house made pastas and bread, organic salads and soups, pizzas, sustainable meats and seafood, an array of satisfying desserts, and a carefully edited and affordable wine list featuring local vineyards and Italian favorites. Local beer is on tap and additional beers are available by the bottle. The restaurant's gracious dining room is ideal for diners of all ages and any occasion.

We had a great time eating at Stellina but it was warm in there! It was a warm day for Pt Reyes Station and I understand they don't have AC there b/c they're so close to the coast but a ceiling fan woud be nice for those days that are warm. We really didn't want to linger too long after lunch, That being said, we all liked our meals, and will definitely go back. Our waitress, who's name I didn't get but she's Polish, was delightful. Really cheery w/a great smile! Thanks!

When you're in Pt Reyes and overwhelmed by the beauty around you and the lovely ride to get there, Osteria Stellina has just the sort of menu you'd want - fresh ingredient driven menu with something for everyone. It doesn't try to impress you with fancy surroundings - plain surroundings and simply prepared fresh food. It's wonderful.

The food wasn't prepared well at all. I ordered the swordfish entree, since they were out of almost everything else on the menu. My niece ordered the flank steak, and my bestie ordered a pizza.
The steak was prepared medium rare even though we asked for medium temperature. Good thing my niece didn't care, but the steak was not cooked to the temperature we desired.
The pizza was soggy in the middle, it could have been the truffle oil, but it didn't seem cooked all the way.
My swordfish, was grilled on the outside, rare on the inside. Rare enough that I couldn't get my fork through the middle. The greens were so over salted, I couldn't eat them even though I was starving. The server tried to argue with me stating that its a tougher fish and is pink in the middle rather look and see if the fish was indeed rare. The sword fish was rare and chilled in the middle, not pink. She should have taken a bite if she was brave enough.

I've been to this restaurant before and didn't have this experience. The service was subpar for the prices we paid.

The host was great, very welcoming and accommodating. The server was not really concerned for us or if we enjoyed the food.
We have a vacation home across the bay, but we probably won't be back to that restaurant.

We had a wonderful lunch here. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was just right for Pt Reyes Station. We ordered pizza and a pasta. Both were wonderful. We had young kids with us (ages 2 and 6) -- the staff was very friendly with them, and there was a kid-friendly menu. Great place!

We went on Saturday evening of a 3 day weekend. They were a little overwhelmed, so I give them a bit of a pass for that. They really did do their best to keep up.
I had the braised lamb, Lynette had the chicken. They were both served on a bed of Pollenta and a side of greens. It was the exact same dish with a different protien! I believe this was done to accommodate the very busy evening. The cherry cobbler was the highlight.
The food was tasty, but could have been much more personalized.
They advertise that they are a Michelin star recommended restraunt. I have no idea what that means, but this was not Michelin star quality.
They are a locally sourced food, which I think is great, but I don't really need to know that you used Strauss farms cream to make your mashed potatoes.
I would go again on a quieter weekend to afford them an opportunity for a better experience

Stopped here on day trip to Pt. Reyes based on recommendation from friend. Food was excellent, especially chicken salad and mushroom pizza. A bit pricey for lunch.

Wonderful meal. We had to wait a bit even though we had a reservation, but it was for the best because they gave us a really great seat.

The meal was tasty and elegant and they accommodated our group of 8 beautifully. We had oysters, 8 entrees, two bottles of wine, desserts, and some other drinks for around $580, so very worthwhile

We live out of state, but always come to Stellina when we're in the area. The food never disappoints--always excellent, with very creative and interesting choices. These times around (we ate twice in one week) the food was as good as usual, but the service was so-so. Seemed like the staff were uncoordinated and inattentive, with one server (maybe a "head server"?) actually slowing things down by taking things away from other servers, getting in long conversations with some patrons and ignoring others, etc. We'll be back--and hope the server training can be upped a bit.

It was my second time to Stellina, first time was just as bad.
The reviews appear to be great, the food does not match the reviews. They have no Chefs, they are Line Cooks. Food is just OK, nothing to rave about.
Goat, in a town that raises them, mainly for cheese, can't cook the little creatures. Undercooked, extremely tough, non edible, mounted on a bed of kale on on top of some type of mashed potato. Hey line cooks, you need to remove the veins from the kale before cooking. Drive out to Nick's Cove, you wil love the food, view, drinks and ambiance.

When we are trying to escape warm temps in Marin, we head for Pt. Reyes and have lunch at Osteria Stellina. It's almost always to split the grilled cheese sandwich. This time we started with chicken liver mousse to share; then the sandwich - this time with braised goat: Delicious. Three kinds of cheese, grilled onions and the meat (sometimes brisket, sometimes lamb, sometimes goat), on great bread with a side salad. We split a strawberry shortcake for dessert - not my favorite dessert. The bread pudding wasn't on the menu. Always a wonderful meal.

With all the good reviews we expected more. The goat I had was overly salty and the Pinot Noir served was not very good and over-priced. The waiter had an attitude and was a bit arrogant.
We will not go back.

Enjoyed a nice quiet Birthday celebration. The food was spot on and the service was wonderful. Ordered the beans & greens as a starter as well as the fresh oysters. Dinner entrees were the halibut and the chicken. Everything was delicious.

On a busy Sunday night the staff (which we found out later was short by 2 essential members) did a terrific job keeping up with a packed restaurant. Loved the authentic dishes like beans and greens and great pastas. Nice wine special and friendly service. We will definitely return when we stay in the point reyes area again.

Almost a year ago, I had lunch here and thought it would be nice to return for our anniversary. This visit, we were seated upon our arrival. Although it wasn't long before we were given menus, there was no friendly interaction. We ordered the dungeness crab as a starter and found it so small, we couldn't stop laughing. I thought they returned the small ones back into the ocean. Having access to very tasty foccacia in SF, the restaurant really needs to reconsider their recipe. Just thought since we were paying for the bread, it would be special. The flatiron steak which had been cut into thirds and then cooked and sliced, was chewy and not flavorful. The mashed potatoes were very tasty. I'm a big fan of halibut and was surprised that the fish was so lacking in flavor and very overcooked. Because we were celebrating our 16th anniversary, neither of us wanted to complain. And all this for a very big price. We chose not to have dessert or coffee after dinner and went down the street to the other dinner house and had a good dessert.

We started with oysters---six on the half-shell, redolent of fresh seashore breezes, with house-made cocktail sauce (which had a nice little spicy kick) and champagne mignonette. My friend had halibut and I ordered the lamb-cheek stew---both exquisite. Our server was pleasant and efficient and not obtrusive. This is so clearly a restaurant whose kitchen staff love and respect food and know what to do with it.

Overall, we had a nice time here. We didn't end up getting food because of timing, but we thoroughly enjoyed a glass of wine and some nice ambiance. It did seem like everyone else was enjoying their food, so I assume it's good, and hope to go back for it soon. Overall nice experience.

I chose this restaurant because it had a lot of vegetarian options. We were a group of five. Four of us had the oysters. We all thought that they were delicious, fresh and with a nice taste of the sea. One of us had the greens and beans. She thought that it was a bit bland. Two of us shared a wild mushroom pizza. It was delicious and they felt that they could have eaten a whole pizza each. Two of us shared a mushroom pizza with sausage. It was delicious, but they would have liked more sausage. I ordered the pasta with ragu. It was delicious. The pasta was al dente and the ragu was slow-cooked and has great depth of flavor. There was a gigantic beverage list with very reasonable prices. The prices in general were very fair for the quality of the ingredients. Service was attentive.

Great restaurant - was recommended by Druid's Hall, and we were wildly impressed. Difficult to decide what to order, the whole menu was loaded with such good options - seasonally oriented with local specialties (oysters, brick maiden breads, local grass fed beef, fish pulled from Bodega that morn, local buffalo).

Since we'd had an oyster feast for lunch, we ordered heavily from their delicious and unusual meat array - the bone marrow appetizer, then the buffalo veal homemade strozzapreti (mind-blowing), and the Buffalo stew (savory spices, tender - delicious).

So good. We commented on how friendly and likable we found the service. Wine and beer list had great range but not an ordeal. I've read that lunch is amazing too. And heard the story about a local who's Italian, and gets his fix there. The real deal.

I went out on a Dinner Date with my new woman friend, and truly enjoyed the place. Service was superb, food was amazingly tasty and served very quickly (though we did get there early at 5:00pm) Their wine list was awesome as well and we picked a CA Pinot Noir (can't remember the name) but that was excellent wine. We had the cheese plate, olives, bread and olive oil to start. Then we ordered the pizza with roasted roma tomatoes, and several cheeses. That was enough to fill us up, with two slices to spare. All in all, a really good dining experience. We will definitely go back there when visiting Point Reyes.

We've eaten here numerous times over the years and it continues to be so tasty. The menu features tons of local and seasonal ingredients. The pizza's are great... and the Pastas are right there with them as well.

Outside of the food, the service is just great. Friendly, inviting, and so accommodating. The last time we ate there we brought our 6 month old son with us. They let us pick out the perfect spot in the restaurant so we could continue to let him sleep, then when he woke up and got fussy they helped us get the check and get out of there quickly before we disturbed the other customers. Also when we couldn't decide between wines, they brought over samples for to try! Helped us make a great decision and have a perfect night out... since those are few and far between nowadays!

Excellent food: salads, pizzas, wine, and beer the first night. So good that we returned the next night and greatly enjoyed seafood stew (3) and wine. All in all a fine dining experience. My wife and I had been here three or four times before. Our visitors from Michigan were quite impressed at the high quality so far from an urban center.

After a long day on the road we were very happy to enjoy a relaxing, delicious meal at Osteria Stellina with prompt, friendly and very helpful service. Wonderfully fresh and plump local clams, orecchiette with homemade fennel sausage, vanilla bean ice cream and mushroom gelato: one inventive goodie after another but without the usual helping of pretentiousness we often experience with this type of food on our coast! A big thanks to all at Osteria Stellina for a memorable welcome to Point Reyes.

This place has been highly recommended by several friends of mine for years, so we thought we'd give it a try for a special birthday dinner for my husband. There were four of us and we tried a variety of items. We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation and they had trouble finding our reservation. Once seated, we waited 10 minutes for any kind of service (maybe because we were early?). Service was slow overall. Maybe because it was raining? Who knows. I was expecting outstanding food. The oysters were fresh and delicious. However, the Point Reyes Blue Cheese salad was way overdressed and the nuts were way too sweet (and they seemed to forget that my friend also ordered a salad - we had to ask for it twice). I did like the grilled romaine salad. My husband had the seafood stew - it was overcooked (the mussels were very overdone to the point of being about the size of a dime, and the calamari was chewy). The broth was excellent though. The black cod was indescribable - once I peeled off the skin, there was just mush underneath - it was hard to distinguish any kind of fish filet (and I've had black cod previously and it was delicious - not here and not worth the $29 price at all!!!). Plus we had to pay for our bread - really? With the prices so high in this place you can't comp a plate of bread? I must add that my friend said his beef stew was delicious. The highlight by far was dessert. We had the flourless chocolate cake with ice cream and caramel sauce. Very delicious. I'd come back for the dessert and the excellent wine selection, but not for dinner!

This restaurant is well known and my second time dining there and frankly my last. We had reservations for a party of seven and when we arrived, there were only two other filled tables. One would think there had been plenty of time to set-up the table prior to our reservation time given the restaurant was almost empty. The server was less than interested in providing any kind of service. The main courses came out before he took our wine order, which we had to track him down to even take. We also had to ask for our appetites. So basically our food and drinks came out in this order: main courses first, wine second, appetizers last. The server treated the wine like he was pouring cool-aide. Our experience was hugely disappointing and I couldn't see any reason for it.

I have dined at this restaurant several times and I have always enjoyed the experience. This experience was different. The waiter was unfriendly and seemed indifferent to relating to us in a positive way. After finishing our first course he told us we hadn't ordered our main course. Perhaps a misunderstanding but I didn't need the attitude which pretty much accompanied the whole meal. The food was a mixed bag. The pasta with a veal ragu was excellent. The chicken liver pate was soupy and slopped all over the plate. The lamb shank was overcooked and the polenta tasteless. The brussel sprouts were good. I wrote the restaurant but did not receive a response. I don't know if it was just a bad night but it's sad to loose a good option for dining in Pt. Reyes Station.
