Osteria Marzano Ratings and Reviews
The decor is vibrant, the atmosphere along the 'back' wall was a little too cozy for me, but was exciting and upbeat. The food, service and wine were excellent. The center island bar makes the whole space more electric. I will look for a more intimate space within the restaurant perhaps closer to the front windows next time.
Cancelled a reservation in DC because of the bad weather. Glad I did because it led me to find this little gem so close to home. Service was excellent from start to finish. Loved the mussels in pancetta, ginger cream sauce. Veal ossobucco was my 2nd favorite ever. It was a hearty portion braised with veggies till very tender and served with saffron risotto. My wife had the Zuppa di Pesce. Also excellent. Served with penne arrabiata on the side. I honestly would have preferred over linguini. Tiramisu was best I've had in a long time. Lady fingers were soaked in espresso and amaretto and made with mascarpone, not just whipped cream. We'll definitely be back!
Valentines Day. I’m Italian and 70 from Brooklyn NY. So I know the difference between real Italian food and the chain places. This place has great food with a real Italian traditional taste, not the fake Greek or Middle Eastern stuff that try to serve in their restaurants. This was our first time and we will be returning.
I took a friend here for his birthday on Super Bowl night. Of course the noise level would be elevated more than the norm, it was expected. We arrived 20 minutes before our reservation time but we were seated immediately anyway. I understand the plight of service persons pay compensation so I almost never tip less than 20 percent. Service has to be pretty bad to warrant less from me. By the end of our evening I couldn't fathom leaving less than 25 percent on an already healthy tab. The service ranked as some of the best I've ever experienced dining out. After our drink orders were taken, the Chef came over to our table to greet us. A very nice touch. The food was outstanding and well worth the price. We will definitely be going back and probably with more friends!
Varied menu with many chef made pastas. The branzini was outstanding...broc Rabe tough. Bread delicious. Chef take on tiramisu unusual, won't order again. The dining room was booked for private party. Tables near bar very noisy but crowd eventually thinned. We will definitely return.
Osteria Marzano was a haul for me (I live in Rockville), but worth the drive (just don't try it during Rush Hour). It was a meeting of friends, so just had to suck up the good with the bad. Food was great, service was quick, parking was free, and my buddy picked up the tab. What's not to like?
Felt like having Italian food on Saturday evening and found this hidden gem when surfing Yelp. Osteria Marzano has a number of options (seafood, traditional Italian, pizza) for any foodie. My favorite was the mussels PEI with tomato oregano and parmigiana! I also enjoyed choosing my favorite imported formaggi and salumi and the waitress helped me pair this with a perfect glass of wine. Osteria Marzano is definitely more pricey than other restaurants in the area, but well worth it for the choices on the menu. Not the best place for kids but nice for dinner with friends. I will be back for sure!
My husband and I went last Saturday night for a date night. Osteria serves very good Italian food and is in the professional building complex near Kingstowne Town Center, Alexandria. Most patrons dressed casually, but if one dresses up a bit, it works, too. The noise level in the main part of the restaurant is lively. The food is a combination of classic Italian comfort food (pasta, lasagna), chicken and seafood dishes, beef, etc and great cocktails, salads, appetizers. Great vegetable sides, which for me is a plus.
The only drawback is that service can be a bit slow. We had reservations for 8pm but still had to wait about 15-20minutes to be seated. Our server was courteous and professional, but she looked very busy, tending to many tables. The food came out at a reasonable pace, however. She then brought the dessert menu and did not return for 15 minutes. When she came back, it was with the check. This was a bit frustrating as we were hoping to have dessert before seeing a movie. My impression is that they need more servers, given how busy the restaurant gets on Saturdays. There is ample parking in a nearby garage. The positives outweigh the drawbacks, so this will remain a go-to restaurant for outings in the area. I recommend Osteria Marzano.
The food is consistently good--really good. Menu is amazing--very hard to choose what to get! We were seated in the back room - which I'm assuming they use for private parties. Ambiance doesn't feel quite the same, and the service was really not good. Our server was nice enough, but definitely didn't check on us enough, had to wait FOREVER for drinks, etc. Really put a damper on the evening. My husband kept saying that he could see that she was busy/waiting on a lot of tables, but sorry...not my problem. They appeared to be short staffed. Will give it another try.
We were seated right on time. Iwas concerned that the resturant was a bit noisey but we were seated in a diningroom away from the bar and it was quite nice as well as quite enough to permit conversation. Soups and salads we good. All4 members of our party were very happy with their entres. Our draw back on the evening was service was a bit slow especially with drinks. Coffee after meal was slow coming and not very hot. I would recommend the resturant to friends and would return
the food was very good. 5 of us dined and had an appetizer and a couple of drinks. we also ordered a bottle of wine that we had been told by the person doing a wine tasting would be 50% off, so we ordered a bottle at the discounted price of $27.50 (when we looked the wine up on line, it said it had an average price of $18.99). when the bill came, we had been charged $50+ for the bottle of wine which we called to our server's attention. He said that the discount only applied when you purchased a bottle to take home. We explained that was not what we had been told. The server got the manager who eventually said she would give us the benefit of the doubt and only charge $27.50, but that was after several uncomfortable minutes of discussion which in my opinion was way too long.
First time ever going here and we'll be back. We went there on a Friday evening for a date night, there was a live DJ playing which was loud but we didn't mind. The food was great, the service was awesome, we'll definitely be returning. I assume on nights where there isn't a DJ bumping music it's much more intimate our server said it was just on Friday evenings. Nonetheless that would be a very fun happy hour spot after work on Friday.
I love this place! It is hidden in the office park. But once you find it, you'll definitely come back! There is no equivalent in the area, and it can be compared to very few restaurants
In DC! The design is very modern and cool design and they make you feel like home by their service and food.
Most of the pastas are homemade and their specials are always very unique and yummy too! They also host wine classes and cooking classes! Where else could you find this much under one roof???
New Year's Eve at 6pm - not exactly peak hours - service was quite slow, and our waitress was indifferent from the start, leaving us without even drinks for 10-15 minutes when we asked for waters and "another minute" to consult the wine list (of which we were only given 1 for a table of 6). There have been some changes to the menu for the worse - for example, why remove vitello tonnato and butternut squash ravioli to add fish'n'chips and candied-bacon macaroni and cheese? The short rib was not as flavorful as I remember, either.
Terrific. Wide range of italian food options. I prefer their cream sauce dishes to their red sauce, but everything I have had is solid. Salads are very good. Have had several dishes with their mozzarella d buffalo and the mozzarella is top notch. A bit pricey for the area, but one of the few polished options in the area - so there you go.
Osteria Marzano is one of our favorite places in N.VA. We’ve been going there since it opened, and it has never disappointed us. The food is always excellent. We love Burrata, and it’s always so good, especially with truffles and when it’s made with buffalo milk. The fried calamari is also great- fried perfectly, very mild, and very fresh, served with fresh tomato sauce. Pasta, risotto, and gnocchi are all delicious and perfectly cooked. Fish, esp. the branzino, is another great option. We seldom have room for dessert, but the Nutella pizza is to die for.
Bottomline - this is a great restaurant. Try it, you’ll love it.
Thank you, Chef Marzano!
