Osteria Marzano Ratings and Reviews
Outstanding food. Been here before and chose not to review: wife would have been 3-, me 5. Today is wife's birthday, but she was willing to try again, for lunch. We both would rate today a 5. We asked for window (rather than dark, tight seated, back wall) ... great move. Food and service definitely worth highest praise.
Needed a late Sunday dinner option so chose this place after having tried it once before not long after it had opened. Dislike that the tables line the bar area, although on a Sunday evening it was unoccupied so noise was no problem. The appetizers of salumi and cheese were very generous. The grilled octopus special appetizer shared the mushiness that one finds in most examples of this nowadays, but the cannellini beans were a nice touch. The ravioli special was tasty and had a lovely vibrant tomato sauce. The veal milanese was a huge portion, not the most sophisticated version, unevenly pounded, but quite tasty. It would have been overwhelmed by the arugula and tomato salad normally served on top. Good service by "Sam." We happened into Sunday 1/2 price on bottles of wine, which is quite a good deal.
Once again Maestro Marzano does it! if you haven't dined here, please try it. Everything is expertly and carefully prepared. All the dishes are authentically Calabrian, IMHO, the best Italian cuchina there is (yes I'm Calabrese). The wine list is superb, try any of Angelo Gaja's masterpieces; they will set off a successful business meeting. Buono appetito,
Mangiare tanto cibo!
Marzano's was disappointing from the very beginning. The atmosphere and layout reminded us of neighborhood bar not a nice Italian restaurant. The wait staff was nice and attentive, but did not know their wine list. They did offer us the opportunity to taste some they offered by the glass, but all lacked body and enough flavor to stand up to good Italian cooking. They couldn't recommend any of those offered only by the bottle and they were too pricy for a shot in the dark. We both ordered salads and fish. The salads were lacking and whoever made a Caesar salad without anchovies! My halibut was over cooked and dried out. My wife said hers was so-so. We had no appetite for deserts after this disappointing meal.
We didn't arrive until 2:00 on Sunday, the last ones there but the staff was gracious and our server attentive.Food was great, could have been warmer but we didn't send it back. It was my daughters birthday and they knew that, but didn't bring her anything special which would have been nice. We have been there many times and will return.
Chef - Owner Carmine takes great pride in his dishes -- everything from pizza to fresh seafood to meatballs (polpette) to some of the finest pasta dishes you'll find ANYWHERE! The mushroom flatbread you can get as a side with your drinks at the bar is out of this world. Chef Carmine's Speghetti Carbonara is so delicate and tasty...we felt like we were in Italy.
We were very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. This restaurant is located in the bottom floor of an office building, and we hard time finding it. Once inside, though, we were in for a treat. The entrees were delicious and the service was friendly and consistently there when we needed/wanted them.
In short, don't let the location inside an office building scare you off. This is a good one. Promise.
This is our go to place when I am visiting my husband who works in Springfield. It's classy, has great food selections, nice wine list, and the service is always on point. I don't really like sitting at tables that only accommodate 2 people, so when you go just ask for one of the bigger tables, but other than that I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Osteria Mariano is located in an office park so on weekends the area seems like a ghost town. My wife and I went on a Sunday for brunch and found the place almost empty. The restaurant is designed well and the food was outstanding. We will definitely be returning. Make sure you follow the signs to the correct building. There are a few reserved parking spaces on the first level of the garage near the EV stations.
We have been here several times but had a bad experience last time and will likely never go again. The food is good but not worth the dismissive attitude both the hostess and management expressed especially for the price you pay. Disappointing that the restaurants ego got in the way of a simple apology that would have made the rudeness vanish.
We visited Osteria Marzano again, this time for Easter brunch. As always, the food was incredible. Our server, Marisol, was very warm, helpful and seemed to be able to keep all her tables well served. My husband had the French toast and I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon - both well prepared and delicious. They offered a special $20 bottle of sparkling wine and had large containers of orange, mango, peach and berry juices to make your own Mimosa, Bellini, etc. which worked out very nicely.
This continues to be one of our favorite places to dine and it's actually not far from home!
Found this place on Yelp for dinner on a Friday night. Plenty of space available around 7p, the service was great, and the food and wine list excellent. Nice selection of wines. I got the fish special ($28), which had a really fantastic pesto and perfectly-cooked pasta. The fish was just cooked and a little crispy. More than enough food and I brought some home. It was excellent. My husband got the ravioli in the walnut-cream sauce ($17), and while it was really good, it didn't fill him up at all. There were tons of other options that sounded enticing and we'd like to come back to try some other menu items. The chocolate cake ($8) had a good ganache on top, but the cake itself was dry. Not really worth the calories or cost. I saw that others liked the creme brulee, though. Next time! We'll definitely be returning. Free parking in the deck on the back side of the building...it's in an office park, so it's a little off the beaten path.
The food here is always delicious and the service is excellent. By far, one of my favorite restaurants. Love the ability to have drinks with some sample boards of cheese and cured meats or olives. But when I'm in the mood for a full dinner the entrees are wonderful. Pasta is fresh and sauces always good.
This small restaurant hidden inside a random building is such a wonderful surprise! The food is delicious! Every person in my party was extremely pleased with his/her meal and even though we were stuffed from our meals, we had to order dessert because they all looked so good! The cheesecake was light and fluffy which was amazing!
It was good to see my old friend Carmen Marzano back in action. I was a big fan when he ran Luigino's on New York Ave. His restaurant on Walker Lane is a great encore. Great appetizers, wonder fig jam, mussels, salamis and cheeses. The main courses were superb too, pork chop, linguine, and the wine (a Goretti) excellent. I highly recommend you pay Carmen a visit. Hope to see you there.
We came here for Sunday brunch and was absolutely wowed by our food! I had read all the great comments on Opentable, but Osteria Marzano exceeded them! The service was superb. Our waiter was excellent - personable, attentive and informative - exactly what you want in a waiter. All three of us loved our brunch. Keep up the outstanding work!!!!
Recently, I went with a friend for lunch. We ordered wine that had a lot of sediment at the bottom of the bottle, making it hard to drink our last glasses. When we noted this to the manager, her attitude was basically: "That happens. Live with it." Given that we spent over $100 I felt we should have gotten another glass of wine or at least a more sympathetic hearing. I'm not sure I'll be going back, which is a shame. The restaurant is very nice looking and food is quite good. Our waitress also was fine.
Our service and dinner were excellent here. The outside of the restaurant isn't that appealing as it just appears as an office building, but inside the restaurant inside is lovely and beautifully decorated. The dishes are innovative without needing to go beyond that to "strange". My pasta was freshly made and quite delicious. We will be back, even though this isn't the most convenient Italian restaurant to our location.
My wife and I enjoyed lunch at Osteria Marzano on Valentine's Day. They had a nice brunch menu with some interesting items on it, but we went for a full Italian meal, and it was great (as usual--we've eaten here several times before). Vitello a tonnato and the duck ragu were superb, and all wait staff were courteous and friendly! Strongly recommended for weekend lunch and dinner any day of the week.
