We had such a great time! As it snowed outside, we were cozy in the dining room eating Plin and tasting amaro with Aldo. Overall, a great experience and great food and wine! With 5 of us and 5 desserts on the menu, we ordered one of each and they were all incredible. Would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Italian meal in Chicago.

Appetizer (gnocchi) was seriously amazing. Main course (salmon) was really good. Dessert (panna cotta) was acceptable but not special. Our server was competent but a bit over extended. All in all, we were super happy with the experience.

Ridiculously good food, great wine list, average cocktails, and pretty good service. For the value, a definite return visit is in store!

This was a very good experience including some great food and a vast wine selection. A few observations that weren’t awful but could be improved on...one, spacing, you are pretty packed in with tables within a foot of each other which makes it louder than it should be, competing with other table to hear one another. And the other observation would be portion size. Although the food was excellent and worth the trip, you may want to pre game with a snack or not come overly hungry. With that being said I would still give the place a 4 out of 5 stars.

The restaurant was decorated very casual. It was cozy and quaint. The service was great. The wine list is very unique and unless you are a wine connoisseur, it was overwhelming. Our server picked some wines, but no one at the table enjoyed the selections picked. The food was priced very high, but the portions were larger than other Italian restaurants. However, our server described the portions as being small- NOT THE CASE. Overall, it was a nice place to catch up with friends. But we spent way too much for not enjoying the wine and ordering way too much food.

Osteria Langhe definitely represents Piemontese cuisine at its best: Typical dishes like vitello tonnato, carne cruda, plin, tajarin, coniglio, panna cotta, etc, are featured, as in any typical Piemontese restaurant/trattoria in for in stance Alba, Treiso, Neive (in fact, the owner knew a specific restaurant in Treiso which I am lucky enough to regularly visit). The wine list similarly offers a large selection of Piemontese wines, many of which you will not find on the list of many more famous Italian restaurants in Chicago (or elsewhere in the US). We were with 4, and essentially had the aforementioned dishes between us, and all were excellent. I was the only one who had the white truffels with my 2 dishes (plin and bistecca), and both were - of course - wonderful, bringing back memories from a dinner a month earlier in Treiso. The wines (by the glass, as I was the only one having wine) were selected with care by Aldo (owner/sommelier): Quorum 2005, a Barbera d'Asti (a wine made in partnership by 6 well-known producers) which was still going strong, full and with rich fruit, and a Prunotto Barbaresco 2008, which paired with the bistecca (and truffels) very well.
And - of course as it should be for a restaurant of this caliber - the pace was Italian: dishes were served at the right intervals, and never was there a sense one was being rushed. One seating for the night, that was it, for all the tables around us. A refreshing break from even some so-called high-end Italian restaurants in my place of residence...
In summary, it was a very memorable evening (a Thursday, and the place was very busy), exceeding my expectations (which were high, based on reviews). Osteria Langhe will be our go-to restaurant every time my family and I will be visiting Chicago.

I've been here twice. It is an excellent Italian restaurant specializing in Piedmont area cuisine -- both food and wine (so don't come looking for Chianti!) I've enjoyed virtually everything I've tried. For antipasti I highly recommend both the quiche and the salad. On the Primi front, both the Risotto of the day and the Ragu were terrific. For main courses, I liked both the pork loin and the chicken dishes. Both were fabulous. My fellow diners on both occasions ordered the rabbit and raved about it.

The desserts: OK but you're not going there for desserts. The wine list is varied but remember: it's the Piedmont region. The service is terrific -- they even keep your tap water glass filled up!

By only criticism: the second time around both my antipasti and primi arrived lukewarm -- a pet peeve of mine. I'm going to point that out ahead of time when I return in two weeks and we'll see if they do any better.

Everything was great from the host staff, bartender, server and server assistant or food runner. Loved this place and can’t wait to go back. Brought my friend for her birthday and we had a great time. Everything was delicious and our server was knowledgeable , friendly and made great recommendations. Cannot wait to return! I wish I remembered our servers name but we were there Friday 12/14/18 around 9-9:30 pm. All gold stars for this establishment.

A great meal. We shared three appetizers (funghi, scallops and winter salad), two primi (plin, tagliatelle), three entrees (salmon, rabbit, pork loin) so it was a very good sampling of the menu. Everything was prepared to perfection. It was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in awhile. Too often a restaurant achieves early success, then things begin to slide. Not at Osteria Langhe. It’s a terrific place. Kudos.

gorgeous food and actually though a little high end , there are so many specials and prixe fixes that people can easily fit it in the budget. Wed at the bar is $20 for 2 courses!authentic wine and food from Piedmonte. Owners are always there, Chef is great. I had the rabbit wrapped in prosciutto and it was amazing. Salmon, Plin and Risotto were very good.

From the moment we walked in we were impressed . Seated immediately , service was outstanding and our waiter really made us feel as if we were the only ones in the room . The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very delightful . The only downside is that the prices are a little high but if you are looking for outstanding service and melt in your mouth food then it is completely worth it!

Overall the food and service are good. However, the food is not unique, everything we ordered had to surprise, which I guess is reserved for those who pay $70/dish when they decide to add white truffle to it.

Also, seating is very tight, to a point where they have to move the table so you will get into your seating, and the decor has very little attention to noise levels or detail in general.

Overall I think its just a normal overpriced restaurant. If you are in the area there are way better options in that price range.

Osteria Langhe offers fare from the Piedmont region of Italy, where I am from. Turin is its capital, and we're tucked in the Northwest of Italy. Beautiful mountains and hills, where many a famous wine comes from; and truffles too. Piedmont has its own distinctive dishes, many appetizers, braised and boiled meats, agnolotti (smaller version of ravioli), bagna cauda, etc. So I was both curious and a bit concerned about their take on the food. No need to be concerned: it was truly authentic and reminded me of the flavors from home,e specially the "vitello tonnato" we had for appetizer (approximate description: thinly sliced roast beef with a mayonnaise based sauce). We also had a very pleasant conversation with the owner. We will definitely be back.
