Osteria Laguna Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter was very nice and the food was good overall, but we had some issues. Our daughter’s portion of spaghetti was small and she had to order a second dish. They forgot one of the meals altogether. And one of our guests wanted salmon on her salad as an entree but they said the chef would not allow that. How bizarre! We won’t ever go back. There are many other Italian restaurants that provide a better experience.
Always in the top 20 restaurants I frequent in Manhattan. A little noisy for a business meal however, you can make do. Food is very good to excellent with attentive service. I especially love the Risotto dishes which are both on the menu and offered as a Special. Wine list also accommodates a better than average wine lover. Plenty of good choices at fair prices. Great location accessible to the Theater, Grand Central and Bryant Park......
waiter, restaurant very cheap!!! with their parm grating cheese!!!!! also shrimp were ridiculously small in risotto , also, coffee lousy, american and as well italian capuccino, flat, watery.... lemon chicken was nottttttt 100% cooked, and just overall appearance was lousy looking- waiter toooo pushy with paid water, sparkling- please restore our loyalty with perhaps a coupon! thank you
We all ordered what we wanted including a bottle of wine.
I knew my dish was $36 my colleague's was approx. $22-24.
No big deal... The waiter asked if I would like spaghetti with my entre.
I said sure... thinking it came with it or there would be a nominal charge...$17.00 for spaghetti with a little red sauce.
But when the check came I did not look closely and that was an entre of spaghetti.
I feel this should have been told to me maybe a slight up charge but way out of line.
Will try other places before I go back.
He ordered desert and coffees.. Bill came to well over $100 per person. They should reevaluate full charge for a side of spaghetti.
Great food as usual; service not so much. Our server took our drink and food order, it arrived, then we didn't see her until we asked for the bill. Obviously short staffed on Sunday evening. We saw the bus person more than our server. Funny thing, the male server didn't appear all that slammed as our server.
Excellent food and good service. The waiter realized that we had not seen each other for a long time and that we would need time between courses - which he allowed, graciously. We had appetizers and then fish and lamb - everything was delicious. Presentation was wonderful, food was fresh and hot. Side was forgotten, but when it arrived it was good - but perhaps too small? The desert was beautifully presented and good as well. The round table for 6 was perfect for conversation!
The only shock was the automatic charge of about 20% gratuity... We are used to 15% for large groups, and would have left 20% but we were surprised that it was mandatory.
We were 4 women in town for the US Open, wanted tasty meal after long cold day at the Open. The lasagna was very good, the spaghetti and meatballs average. Red wine not really drinkable, which they obligingly took off the receipt. Server dumped Parmesean cheese in my lap. Average, nice atmosphere and ambiance, but would not return.
Excellent food in the style of great neighborhood Italian Trattorias. Familiarity with traditional Italian restaurants is helpful in deciphering the menu but the servers are knowledgeable and generous so this is not a must. Located near Grand Central in a bustling part of the city the food and atmosphere exceeded expectations.
Authentic food with good specials and efficient service but marred by very high noise level at lunch, which makes it difficult to have a business conversation. It could fit the bill for tourists, who could enjoy the outside, sidewalk seating. My guest and I will probably not return for a business lunch, following the example of some of our colleagues looking for less expensive, quieter places.
