Osteria Laguna named for the beautiful waterways of the famed Italian city offers a spacious and stylish contrast to the busy workday bustle of 42nd Street. Located steps away from the New York Helmsley, United Nations and the Chrysler Building, this charming northern Italian space is easily accessible to business and tourist crowds alike. Floor to ceiling front doors, antique country tables and a classic 30 foot mahogany bar lend a sense of relaxed refinement to this airy and spacious getaway.
Osteria Laguna’s menu offers contemporary sensibility and flair to the classic tastes of Northern Italy with an emphasis on fresh wholesome foods. From classic to cutting edge, there’s something for every appetite. Perfectly balanced pasta dishes, mouthwatering risotti, or the amazing array of piping hot dishes coming out of the charming brick oven at the center of the restaurant.

The Branzino dish was fabulous as was the salmon. Delicious Brussels sprouts. Love the atmosphere, quiet and unassuming. Will go back. Pizzas looked great but that’s next time.
Had a nice dinner here. The restaurant is quiet and comfortable. Good food and a very reasonable wine list. Service was good although our waitress could have put a smile on her pretty face. I would come back here and would recommend to others.
It was very very noisy and we had to speak really loudly. I think this is due to the acoustics in the restaurant (high ceilings, wood floors). Food was very good! Asked the hostess where the restroom was and she had no idea.
Outstanding dinner - great service, food was was incredible. Look forward to returning.
You may not think some of the best Italian food in the city can be found way over on 42nd near 2nd, but think again! You'll not only find great food, (pizza and many other dishes are roasted in their brick oven) but friendly, attentive, service (Jamie is an excellent server), and wonderful "Tuscan" farmhouse ambience. Plus, a nice outdoor seating space. A must-try!
Great restaurant in a convenient location. Consistently good food in a lively setting.
Osteria Laguna is located on 42nd Street between Lexington and Third Avenues, so is a convenient location near Grand Central Station. The restaurant has an energetic vibe and gets busy early (I had a 6PM reservation). Upon arriving you are seated promptly, which I appreciate. The overall experience (food, service, etc.) is good but could be better. I got the sense everyone is going through the motions and no one is particularly excited to work there.
I've often walked past this bustling restaurant in my visits to NY and finally opted to make a reservation to dine. Despite several tables being open I was seated at the back of the restaurant and was not attended to promptly throughout my visit. When I sought recommendations, not many were forthcoming, however the waiter was quick to point out that some customers that evening had not enjoyed the duck (as it was too salty). I was in the mood for duck so I did order that. It was too salty, but that wasn't the only thing that was lacking. The duck was sliced very thick and it was very tough and dense. The flavor was average at best. The waiter recommended med-well which I was surprised about. The smokey eggplant caponata was very good despite the duck being a let down. If dining here, I'd suggest going for more traditional Italian dishes. I saw several other diners enjoy the pasta dishes. I also saw a diner enjoy a pizza which was not on the menu I was provided. My recommendations -- the waiters need to share customer feedback to the chef real-time and make appropriate adjustments. They should also share their (or customer favorite) dishes when asked.
Yes. Service and delivery of perfectly cooked entrees for prime time business lunch meeting was amazing. This is definitely a "go to" in heart of east mid-town.
I've eaten at Osteria Laguna many times. This time, the food was okay, could have had more pep and seasoning. I do love the olives they serve. Definitely a good value for this area of town.
Excellent homemade pasta’s. Found this place just by luck as it is close to NYU physician offices. Lively after work bar scene. Good vibes. Awesome raviolis and super chocolate lava cake. Might recommend that some of the bread be cut closer to serving time.
Good place for formal lunch during work hours. Menu includes several good options.
Excellent food and great service!
Fast service (almost too fast). Good for in and out meal.
Food was delicious! Central location near subways and Grand Central Station. Service was attentive.
A friend and I enjoyed our meal; it was well prepared. Service was very good. There is a great menu selection; something for everyone.
Delicious meals and excellent service.
the food was outstanding. Great italian cooking fixed just right
i will be back
I have never written a review but unfortunately I have to this time. First of all we were excited to eat at this establishment we came over from Scotland for 5 days and this place was our first meal. Now it cost 130 dollers for what I can only call the worst meal we have ever sat down too. The risotto was stodgy the calamari was the worst I have ever eaten. The only good thing was the wine. Now the waitresses just didn’t give a toss and were not that helpful. I feel sorry for posting this but it was an awful experience. Anyway New York was excellent other than this
Food was ok, nothing spectacular . Service was standard. Everyone looked grumpy. When I was in service I made sure I warmly greeted my guests and smiled during service. I really don’t mind grumpy service if the food is fantastic. This place did not impress. I will not return.
I was alone dining by myself and they could not seem to get me out of there quick enough.
The food was excellent, although a tad pricey. The restroom needed a bit more care and attention. Everything else was wonderful for a nice dinner.
Food was outstanding. Came here 2 nights in a row. Each night was great.
very good pizza
Perfect for what we were looking for before a show. Great food and service all around. Will be returning soon.
Food and wine was excellent, had the salmon ravioli and they were delicious and the portion was well-sized (usually a gamble with ravioli).
Food was very flavorful. Quaint ambience.
The food at Osteria was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is very vibrant--can also be loud for some. The service was excellent! I will definitely be returning when I am in that area.
The food is consistently terrific!
The food was great and a good value. Service seemed a little off, especially when we first got there but I know it's tough since we were not all there at once.
Good food Good service, Noise level is too high for comfort.
service and food was excellent, really nice place, will definitely go again.
Great meal, great service, good wine list despite its size.
Food was authentic and AMAZING and so was our server. The cocktails and red wine was also really good. We plan to visit every time we are in town.
Amazing find tucked away in shopping center- consistently excellent and feels very special
Very good restaurant with pretty good standard Italian dishes and some quite interesting daily specials
Loved everything about this restaurant
Diverse menu at reasonable prices. Service was great - gave us time to talk and enjoy our meal. Back room seating area can be noisy when full - the bar area seating was actually quieter by 8:30pm.
Very comfortable cozy neighborhood type place. We love the sausage and broccoli rabe risotto. The zucchini parmigiana is great too. We start with the calamari salad with beets. It is listed as an entree but we like to share it as an appetizer. Very enjoyable and a place to return to often!!!
