Osteria Laguna Ratings and Reviews
The specials of the day, especially when they cost almost 50 dollars, should be mentioned along with their prices.
The same server asked three or four times if we wanted more than tab water. Asking that twice would seem acceptable. More than twice, frankly, is a bit too much.
Other than this, an enjoable meal, as always.
I had the short ribs with tomato, coffee, chocolate sauce. It sounded both weird and intriguing at the same time. The whole was greater than the sum of its parts. The combination did not taste like tomato or coffee or chocolate exactly, but something different and spectacular. Plus the short ribs themselves were tender and superb. This dish is a winner!
We went to Osteria Laguna for NYE dinner and we left very unimpressed almost disappointed. The food, ambiance, and hostess were great; our waiter, however, wasn't. He seemed generally uninterested, did little to answer our questions, and rushed us into our decisions. We were there for the NYE dinner from 9pm to about 12:30m. We were there for a decent amount of time so we planned on pacing ourselves with the food. He never once told us that kitchen would be closing at a certain time. Instead he came by after the kitchen had closed and said "by the way the kitchen is closed, no more food or deserts"
The food was delicious, the service ah the bar was great, the hostess was great, but our waiter was terrible.
Restaurant was beautiful in a great location to our hotel. Easily booked a reservation on Christmas Day, however it was not crowded when we arrived. All other local restaurants were booked solid...that should have been our clue.
Food was marginal, nothing exciting or worth the price.
Steven was the rudest waiter I have ever experienced. He rarely came to the table, never offered a water refill without our request even with obvious empty glasses, and although he said the correct words when he interacted with us...you could actually see him roll his eyes and laugh condescendingly when he walked away from the table. I watched him treat others the same. The female hostess seemed to recognize this and try to compensate for his behavior. This restaurant without Steven would have been a much better experience...he needs to go!
My wife and I visited this restaurant as an alternative to Christmas Dinner while we were visiting New York from the UK. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of our visit. The staff were very pleasant and attentive, but discreet. The food was wonderful and I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone. 10 out of 10 Osteria Laguna!
Osteria Laguna has become a favorite restaurant. They earned it with consistently good food, very professional service and an atmosphere that exudes friendliness. I have enjoyed small dinners and major birthday celebrations there and was always very satisfied.
We enjoyed lunch on a busy day the week before Christmas. Happy that we made reservations and were seated promptly. Service was excellent which was impressive due to how busy they were.
I had homemade spinach raviolis in a butter sage sauce which was delicious. My companion had the truth and meaning in a mushroom sauce also very good.
Definitely will be back
Waiter was the quintessential New Yorker. He lived up to the stereotype of not friendly and slightly obnoxious. He didn’t want to answer any questions my grandson’ asked. It was like he was above us.
The pizza was Ok and my Caesar salad was slightly better. However I would never go back.
The choice of Osteria Laguna for an annual friends' dinner was definitely a good one.
The location was very convenient ( near GCT and away from the midtown holiday traffic), The atmosphere was lively , but cozy, and the food was terrific!
The service was prompt, but not rushed, and the staff very accommodating.
We asked our table location to be moved from the front door area to the rear of the restaurant, and this was done without hesitation.
I would definitely recommend Osteria Laguna and hope to return.
I love this place, and it’s my go to formeeting people forlunchin the city because it’s an easy walk from grand central. I’m slightly handicapped and it’s all on one level.
However, besides the food, service, atmosphere, what makes me love this place is the greeting at the front host stand. They are always so welcoming. Recently, I was meeting a friend and the wait for 2 seats wasgiing to be awhile, they put me in the window at a 4 top which was incredibly generous and thoughtful.
I love the food here too-always great.
3 coworker out for a holiday luncheon. We started with Fritto Misto calamari & shrimp very lightly battered, fried crispy with tangy sauce. Meals consisted of GRIGLIATA MISTA DI PESCE grilled seafood cooked just right lovely presentation.; SCALOPPINE AL LIMONE veal medalions in a wonderful sauce; FILETTO DI MAIALE CON FUNGHI pork tenderloin wild mushroom sauce over polenta, yum.
We tried this restaurant based upon our hotel’s recommendation. It was ok not spectacular.
While the pasta is homemade, the dishes were very bland.
The service was good but not over the top.
The restaurant was incredibly noisy so not a great place to go for a cozy dinner.
We will definitely not be back as there are better Italian restaurants in NYC.
