Osteria Laguna named for the beautiful waterways of the famed Italian city offers a spacious and stylish contrast to the busy workday bustle of 42nd Street. Located steps away from the New York Helmsley, United Nations and the Chrysler Building, this charming northern Italian space is easily accessible to business and tourist crowds alike. Floor to ceiling front doors, antique country tables and a classic 30 foot mahogany bar lend a sense of relaxed refinement to this airy and spacious getaway.
Osteria Laguna’s menu offers contemporary sensibility and flair to the classic tastes of Northern Italy with an emphasis on fresh wholesome foods. From classic to cutting edge, there’s something for every appetite. Perfectly balanced pasta dishes, mouthwatering risotti, or the amazing array of piping hot dishes coming out of the charming brick oven at the center of the restaurant.

Nice place for lunch near Grand Central Station. All of our meals were delicious from a risotto to a pasta dish to a salad.
Manager refused to honor my $25 dining reward unless it was printed. I showed it to him and insisted he reduce my bill for $25. He threatened to call the police
Outrageous behavior. What are you going to do to reimburse me and make me forget this horrible experience?
Consistently excellent in all areas. Try anything on the menu and find perfection
Lovely place - don’t be fooled by the slightly gritty 42nd street exterior! Very good, authentic Venetian food and really good service.
Great food and service. Great pizza and Risotto!
I have been back to Osteria Laguna 4 times in the past 3 months and everything has been great. Food is delicious. Prices are reasonable for midtown Manhattan. Super convenient. Reservations are advised when possible. Bar is nice if you do not have a reservation. Service is excellent.
I have been searching for a high quality and reasonably priced osteria/ trattoria in midtown ever since my favorite Circo closed last year. Laguna checks off all of the boxes: tasty pasta dishes (gnocchietti with duck ragu a real winner); well -prepared fresh fish (very good Branzino); attentive service; good wines by the glass at a moderate price; classic desserts; outdoor tables for nice summer days. We did not try the brick oven pizzas but the selections looked appetizing. The daily specials were delicious and a good value. This will be my new go-to.
Have a delicious ravioli pasta dish. Attentive but not obtrusive service, great value for lunch, and a quiet place to catch up with an old friend.
Great atmosphere and menu has a great selection. Service was horrible... slow, took a while to get to us, disorganized, didn’t offer the list of specials. Perhaps she was having a bad day. Having said that, the dinners were delicious.
We were a party of four, staff courteous and concerned, food excellent , a real surprise for the area near grand central
Great meal in between Harry Potter performances and away from the crowd. Enjoyed the Ceasar and Caprese salads. The lasagna was truly exceptional! Thank you for a great meal;
Great food, lightning quick service, was just a bit too loud for us. We were looking for somewhere for a romantic evening meal and could hardly talk to one another.
We had a great time. The food was delicious, and our server was so polite and didn’t rush us to turn over the table. Will be back a lot to meet friends on the way home!
Attentive service and excellent Italian meal. Will repeat.
It was an excellent experience with high quality and delicious experience. And on top of that, the food came so quickly and we were warmly serviced. It’s a nice spot very close to Grand Central Station.
Service was attentive but not hovering. Food was excellent. Room was comfortable with noise level allowing a conversation.
Food was good, ambiance so-so, staff knowledgeable
Amazing place! Great service, Great food ! Lovely restaurant
Good halibut tho pricey for what it is. Same for steak salad. Attentive service.
I had wanted to dine here since I first saw it in 2016. I finally got back here with my wife and it was worth the wait. The host and waiter (Sergio) were top notch. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs which she gave a solid 7 out of 10 and I had the calzone which I give a 9 out of 10. The ambience is perfect for a date night. The outdoor seating would have been ideal but the weather was a little chilly so I recommend you sit outside when the weather is warmer. Bottom line, I highly recommend, especially if you are staying in Murray Hill.
The Branzino dish was fabulous as was the salmon. Delicious Brussels sprouts. Love the atmosphere, quiet and unassuming. Will go back. Pizzas looked great but that’s next time.
Had a nice dinner here. The restaurant is quiet and comfortable. Good food and a very reasonable wine list. Service was good although our waitress could have put a smile on her pretty face. I would come back here and would recommend to others.
It was very very noisy and we had to speak really loudly. I think this is due to the acoustics in the restaurant (high ceilings, wood floors). Food was very good! Asked the hostess where the restroom was and she had no idea.
Outstanding dinner - great service, food was was incredible. Look forward to returning.
You may not think some of the best Italian food in the city can be found way over on 42nd near 2nd, but think again! You'll not only find great food, (pizza and many other dishes are roasted in their brick oven) but friendly, attentive, service (Jamie is an excellent server), and wonderful "Tuscan" farmhouse ambience. Plus, a nice outdoor seating space. A must-try!
Great restaurant in a convenient location. Consistently good food in a lively setting.
Osteria Laguna is located on 42nd Street between Lexington and Third Avenues, so is a convenient location near Grand Central Station. The restaurant has an energetic vibe and gets busy early (I had a 6PM reservation). Upon arriving you are seated promptly, which I appreciate. The overall experience (food, service, etc.) is good but could be better. I got the sense everyone is going through the motions and no one is particularly excited to work there.
I've often walked past this bustling restaurant in my visits to NY and finally opted to make a reservation to dine. Despite several tables being open I was seated at the back of the restaurant and was not attended to promptly throughout my visit. When I sought recommendations, not many were forthcoming, however the waiter was quick to point out that some customers that evening had not enjoyed the duck (as it was too salty). I was in the mood for duck so I did order that. It was too salty, but that wasn't the only thing that was lacking. The duck was sliced very thick and it was very tough and dense. The flavor was average at best. The waiter recommended med-well which I was surprised about. The smokey eggplant caponata was very good despite the duck being a let down. If dining here, I'd suggest going for more traditional Italian dishes. I saw several other diners enjoy the pasta dishes. I also saw a diner enjoy a pizza which was not on the menu I was provided. My recommendations -- the waiters need to share customer feedback to the chef real-time and make appropriate adjustments. They should also share their (or customer favorite) dishes when asked.
Yes. Service and delivery of perfectly cooked entrees for prime time business lunch meeting was amazing. This is definitely a "go to" in heart of east mid-town.
I've eaten at Osteria Laguna many times. This time, the food was okay, could have had more pep and seasoning. I do love the olives they serve. Definitely a good value for this area of town.
Excellent homemade pasta’s. Found this place just by luck as it is close to NYU physician offices. Lively after work bar scene. Good vibes. Awesome raviolis and super chocolate lava cake. Might recommend that some of the bread be cut closer to serving time.
Good place for formal lunch during work hours. Menu includes several good options.
Excellent food and great service!
Fast service (almost too fast). Good for in and out meal.
Food was delicious! Central location near subways and Grand Central Station. Service was attentive.
A friend and I enjoyed our meal; it was well prepared. Service was very good. There is a great menu selection; something for everyone.
Delicious meals and excellent service.
the food was outstanding. Great italian cooking fixed just right
i will be back
I have never written a review but unfortunately I have to this time. First of all we were excited to eat at this establishment we came over from Scotland for 5 days and this place was our first meal. Now it cost 130 dollers for what I can only call the worst meal we have ever sat down too. The risotto was stodgy the calamari was the worst I have ever eaten. The only good thing was the wine. Now the waitresses just didn’t give a toss and were not that helpful. I feel sorry for posting this but it was an awful experience. Anyway New York was excellent other than this
