About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Principe di San Daniele, the Italian Prosciutto and Deli Specialty Company, is proud to announce the opening of its first flagship store in Manhattan- Osteria del Principe.

The true experience of the Italian “Osteria” (Italian for informal simple restaurant with a big counter with great food and wines at a reasonable cost) where Italians meet for lunch of after work in a warm, sociable atmosphere to taste a fresh pasta, a gourmet salad or a mouthwatering plate of authentic Italian deli meats and cheeses pairing with a perfect glass of wine is now open in the heart of Manhattan.

Two of us went to dinner here. We both had lived in Italy and enjoyed the food and ambiance of this restaurant. Much appreciated.

The gnocchis were very disappointing. The rest was ok.

The restaurant is cozy and well adorned, the waiter was patient and knowledgeable about the food which was delicious and authentic. A little pricey but the quality of the ham was very high, and difficult to find at the same level/price in New York. Real Italians owners and staff, it seems they will also host cocktails and aperitivo very soon. Recommend but remember to mind the step at the door!

One could pass by this place as I did many times, but keep your eyes open on E23rd Street. Aside from the amazing Prosciutto and other cured meats, the main courses are great too. But nothing like a plate of charcuterie, some good cheese and wine!

This is as authentic Italian cuisine as you can get, with the freshest mozzarella in the City! I loved the ambiance for our small family of five. The staff was so friendly and hospitable that we didn't want to leave. Honestly, all the entrees were fresh and expertly prepared/plated, and each person in our party raved that it was the best tasting dish we had ever enjoyed. I highly recommend their homemade spinach ravioli!

We love this restaurant! and have been going for years. The owners, Carlotta & Max, are wonderful hosts and the service staff are outstanding. Food is delicious -- from appetizers to desserts, we always enjoy our meals. Good selection of wines too! .. and the prosciutto and
buratta are just sensational - thank you as always!

Service was really excellent! The staff was able to recommend excellent choices and wines. Additionally, the food was fantastic. Cheese was some of the most superb I've ever had, and the pastas were to die for! Will definitely be attending again!
