The food and service at Osteria are always very good. This is a nice, friendly neighborhood gem that is very reliable. Dining out during COVID is a challenge and one reason to select Osteria is that they seem to take their protocols very seriously.
I made a request for outdoor dining on OT app and left them a voice message too. We arrived 5 minutes early and were advised it would be a very long wait for an outdoor table and were given a table inside. The waitress didn’t show up so after waiting 30 minutes we asked a passing bus person if they could get us a waiter... She was uninterested, curt!!! The manager never checked on us and just shunned us! He and the waitress were all around us... It took another 45 minutes for our food to appear. Food was okay. I cook just as well! So an hour and a half after we were seated our food arrived. So apologies or nice manners! I regret going there!
Gracious and prompt service. Menu can be varied by pre-ordering specific dishes or making slight alterations whilst ordering - contact Nino ahead of time to ask what they can do. We had four different entrees - all superb along with wines, starters and desserts.
The restaurant was nice , we stayed outsides even though there were table available inside. As Italian I have to say that the food was perfect , delicious home made pasta!
Everything about the experience was amazing from the last minute accommodations to seat a larger party to the extremely knowledgeable and friendly server and his spot on recommendations. The food is on another level and was blown away by every dish. Thanks to the friendly owner and his great establishment, we will be back!
Had my family in town and they thoroughly enjoyed the practicing of social distance, professionalism, family touch, and delicious food. Will be back again!!!
This restaurant was great; very nice ambiance! Our server, Holt, provided excellent customer service. The owner, Mr. Nino, also was very hospitable and sat us in a nice dining area for my birthday. The lasagna and homemade ice cream was a real treat! Delicious authentic Italian cuisine, without a doubt. I can't wait to come back again in the future :)
Next time. I’m just trying to modify a reservation now
Nino always makes you feel at home. He welcomes you like an old friend and even greeted my mother-in-law like she was family. The food was superior and the service was far and away the best I have seen in a while. Enjoy a glass of wine and Nino will help you understand why it is so great with your meal. This a great experience after being cooped up for so long because of COVID-19. Never felt at risk while we were there either.
(As usual), great good, superb atmosphere and wonderful hospitality! Nino personally greets every patron with a Sicilian warmth true to the old country—Looking forward to our next visit!
Amazing outdoor service!!! Ordered a case of wine too!
Nino's is the real deal. If you are looking for real Italian food, not Italo-american fare, Nino's is the place for you. Paired with a wine list not to be outdone, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. And, if you don't know what to order, never fear, Nino will help you out, suggesting precisely the right dish and the right wine for any occasion.
This is such a terrific neighborhood Italian places! They have an Italian Happy Hour with so many great deals on Italian wines as well as any sort of cocktail. Happy hour foods were great too. The owner was so personable and hails from Sicily. He took time greeting all the guests; he made us feel so welcome and appreciated. We can highly recommend this restaurant. I love that they have plenty of outdoor tables to stay safe during this crazy time. We felt safe there. Protocols were good.
A dinner at Osteria is always excellent, consistently good food and service, nice cocktail and wine selection, a most gracious host, and a pleasant evening out. Specials, and the menu in general, make selection of appetizers and mains a challenge; there are too many tempting choices. I have a soft spot for fried oysters, always promising myself that I'll try a different appetizer "the next time", so it helps to go with a partner that will share your fried oysters and try something else as well.
A lemon drop martini, limoncello martini, a glass of a California cab, fried artichokes, the aforementioned fried oysters, a salad, and a pasta special split between two of us cost under eighty dollars.
Osteria da Nino is worth a trip out to Shirlington on any day, a perfect venue for a fancy evening out, and a great place for a romantic dinner or dinner with friends.
Everyone was gracious, food excellent
Have dined at Osteria da Nino several times and even held a baby shower in their private dining room. Food is always excellant as well as their service. Friendly atmosphere that you would expect at a neighborhood restaurant.
Our first date was there and my blessing and I go back at least 2x for the last 3 years. Enough said ! Go and you will see!
My family and I come here often and it is hands down the best Italian food in this area...and this is coming from someone who lived in Italy for four years. We recently had their veal chop dinner and it was amazing!!!! Will not disappoint and I highly recommend it!
authentic Italian, excellent quality, reasonable portions, great service and attention. Our go to place when we have out-of-town guests who like Italian
Osteria da Nino is a treasured favorite-when you’re there, you’re like family!
This restaurant offered "social distancing" long before it became a public health necessity. The tables here are comfortably spaced and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Service was excellent and Mr. Nino is always on hand to ensure everyone is having a great experience.
If I could give this restaurant more stars, I would! Everything was INCREDIBLE. The service was great and each food item was amazing. I love how they don't charge a crazy amount for wine and beer, love to see that around here. Definitely separates them from the others. I am gluten free as well and love that they offer options. I had the Caprese salad, GF carbonara, and the chocolate mousse for dessert! YUM
We sat outside, so noise wasn’t a problem. We were there for happy hour and everything was delicious and very reasonably priced.
Food is always excellent. Atmosphere is classy without being over-formal. Nino is the greatest host ever
We had an extremely nice early evening at a window side table at Osteria da Nino the other day. Food was so fresh and well presented as well as delicious. Of course, staff and other diners took the appropriate precautions. We look forward to returning.
Went to Osteria da Nino during Restaurant Week with some friends and had a wonderful experience. Everything from the service (including a nice visit with Nino himself!) to the food to the ambiance was wonderful. I definitely plan on going back!
Always a pleasure to see Nino and company! We were placed outside as requested, under an awning; staff was wonderful; Holt was great! Only reason I had anything less than five stars is the menu was restricted that day or week to a choice of three course meals and not the full menu... look forward to making this a regular stop for our family dining experience!
Love this special place in Shirlington. Nino, the owner, is very friendly and is always to chat. He knows wine and food. We've never been disappointed in the wine or food. The wine dinners are really fun!
Osteria da Nino is our very favorite Italian restaurant. The food, the personal attention from the owners, and the well trained staff is excellent. The consistency of the food is a plus. If you like a certain dish, you can be assured the next time you visit that it will be just as good as you remembered.
Great as always. Thanks Nino!
This was the first time we were able to dine at Osteria since the pandemic arrived. (We did get takeout one or two times.) It was a delight to be back. Safe spacing and masks for all the staff. Nino was a his usual charming self and the food was great as always. Being Restaurant Week dinner was a super bargain We are returning with friends two nights from now!
This place is amazing! So glad we tried it out! Wine list has so many options and is very affordable. The owner is super friendly, engaging & warm. All the food we had was great. Osso bucco well worth it! Will def go back!
Everything about our dinner was nice, from the food to the atmosphere to the service. Four of us gathered for dinner for Restaurant Week. When I got to the restaurant, they told me there was no more outdoor seating. Knowing my COVID-fearing friend would not eat indoors, I asked if there was anything they could do. Boy, did they! The restaurant set up a table for four outside just for us! We felt bad for the servers because they’d have to walk a bit with the plates and things, but it was really nice of them to do this. Then, we had a wonderful server. I wish I had gotten his name. He so friendly and polite and warm, and we really enjoyed his service. He was attentive and made sure we were happy. All the servers were good to us. Then, the food: wow! Sometimes for Restaurant Week you think you won’t get the best the restaurant offers. Well, our food was awesome. I had the gazpacho with burrata cheese as the server recommended, and it was delightful. Also had the cavatappi with sausage ragu, and it was delicious and plentiful. My guests had the meatballs, bronzino and chicken piccata, and everyone remarked how tasty and well done the food was. Overall, just a wonderful night with great friends and food. We lingered about 3 hours, no one tried to get us to leave or anything. This is a neighborhood restaurant for me, so I know I will be back. I am sure my friends will join me again. I highly recommend.
Love this restaurant. The owner, Nino Pino, is personable and greets everyone, spends time at tables and says goodbye. He cares about his customers.
Excellent food and service. Looking forward to returning soon.
Nino's is excellent, authentic, fresh food served with warm, friendly hospitality. I love how Nino welcomes you and his staff really knows their product. They'll tell you about the daily specials or answer your questions about a particular item or ingredient and provide great wine recommendations. No matter how little or how much your budget, you'll love it!
Food was delicious - the cannoli filling was so light, the best I've had in the area. The owner is friendly and chatty but not overbearing. Beautiful place, too!
Always a nice dinner experience, excellent food, and thoughtful service. Don't miss: fried oysters
Met another couple for dinner. We asked Nino to set us up with an impromptu wine tasting. The ladies loved the rose and the gents were partial to the red. We topped the evening with grappa and limoncello. Nino was an amazing host as always!
The lasagna was really delicious. Wait staff and owner were very attentive!
