Nice Happy Hour spot with some piano and good bar bites and drinks. Dinner was delicious - we shared the Seafood Carbonara and the Lobster ravioli and both were excellent and with thoughtful wine pairings as well. Good "locals" top of spot right off the Plaza.
Excellent salad of beets and arugala. Main dish was a slight letdown after that. The parmesan encrusted sole had no parmesan on it that I could tell and was not encrusted at all as I am accustomed to in other restaurants. It was more a savory almondine. Very good but I was seeking that slight crust and tang that I have had in other dishes so named. Alas a good meal but different from expected based on menu name.
Always a pleasure to dine at Osteria d’Assisi! Pietro gave us great service.
We lived in Boston for many years and enjoyed the terrific Italian restaurants. Osteria D’Assisi would do very well there. The only thing that could be better was the bread.
During a vacation to Santa Fe and in need of a change from all the wonderful regional cuisine, we were looking for an Italian fix. Our concierge recommended this bustling little gem and we couldn't have been happier. Our server brought us out a complimentary glass of Prosecco and was beyond warm, friendly and well versed in the menu - everything from the wine and beer offerings to the food. My husband ordered a beef tenderloin special and stated that of all the steak he had on vacation (one dinner being at the "best" steak house in town) the beef he had at Osteria D' Assisi was the best. The place was packed, the conversation around us lively and we would definitely go again - if only it were closer to our home in Connecticut!
First, the good... the food was superb. We started with a Caesar salad and the beet salad. Both were fresh, cold and delicious. I had the Pasta with Vodka Sauce and my wife had the Angel Hair with meatballs. Both were hot, flavorful and large portions.
Now the bad, which totally overrides the good.... We entered the restaurant and were greeted politely by the young lady at the podium. She showed us to our seats, and left the menus on the table.
As I was removing my coat to drape over the chair, an older, heavy set waiter stood next to me and asked if we cared for a drink or glass of wine! I'd just started to sit down! This "need for speed" continued throughout the evening and our dinner lasted less than one hour. Our salads were delivered within 3 minutes of ordering them, our entrees came to the table as I was putting the last bite of salad in my mouth and my wife still had several mouthfuls left to eat!
I would have ordered a glass of red wine with dinner, but had no time to finish the white wine I started with...
It was EXTREMELY apparent, from the way this waiter rushed every table in his section, that he was simply turning tables to increase his covers and therefore his tips. I'm surprised and disappointed that management lets him get away with that. It ruined our Saturday night date night...
Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere, and a terrific live guitarist on the Saturday evening we were there.
While food was quite good, the "experience" wasn't. Although the four of us were seated in the "quiet" room, we could hardly converse because of the noise level, admittedly created by several other patrons, but exacerbated by total lack of sound mollifiers in room.
While staff was attentive, lead person talked too much and, therefore, amplified the above condition.
Wonderful Italian restaurant; nice change from all of the New Mexico cuisine. The ambiance is delightful and food is authentic Italian. We will return next time in Santa Fe. Don’t miss the calamari!
Dinner here was for a special occasion & it was perfect. The decor was ambient & the noise level great for conversations.
We were seated by the fireplace for Grandma's birthday dinner. She appreciated that. The bar was jumping, but the dining room was not too loud and we were able to converse. The Caesar salads were excellent. Our meals of pasta and seafood were very good. The house-made pasta was delicious. Our wait staff was perfectly attentive and helpful. The restaurant is cozy and the dining room has a charming feel. We were very pleased and plan to return.
What made our experience extra special was the guitarist. Michael Umphrey. He’s a true talent and makes a great restaurant even greater
Was it because it was a Tuesday night? My sole was overcooked and falling apart, poorly seasoned and not really "crusted". The bread smelled good but was rock hard and tasteless. The carrot soup (special) was creamy but not much flavor.
We have eaten at Osteria before and had a very enjoyable meal, so took out-of-town guests there and were disappointed.
This place is awesome
Perfect in every way
Wish I could recall name of guitar player
He was as charming as the restaurant
We’ll be back there again before we leave Santa Fe
The Easter Brunch was exquisite! The food was delicious and the service excellent and cheerful. We love the restaurants food!
Love eating at Osteria. This time we had some prosecco, split a pizza and a salad and a fab bottle of wine. As always, delicious, delightful, da best!
We missed our reservation time and arrived later than expected. The host seated us at a great table where the musician was playing. We had a wonderful time and the food was great! Can’t wait to go back and take friends too!
We were looking for a simple pizza, but in a pleasant setting. We'd had dinner here before and enjoyed it. When we saw that there was pizza available, we stopped looking at pizza places and headed here. Could not have been more pleased. Piano player; excellent cocktails with our plate of exceptionally good calamari; then, a very tasty pizza. Simple and elegant meal.
Excellent food, service and ambience. Qualities not found in most establishments anymore.
Always a great experience... Excellent food and dining experience.
Great service and the tenderloin was amazing! The server provided lots of helpful information and there was an extensive wine list. Would definitely go back again when in the area!
The calamari was greasy, the sole and risotto so salty I could not eat it, and the wait staff was marginal, at best.
The food was impeccable and the noodles you could tell were homemade and so fresh. I had the fresh spinach noodles topped with pesto and burrata and it was so good. Paired with a nice Valpolicella that was recommended by our lovely waiter. We had fun listening to the live music as well.
Pietro was wonderful!! Every item was prepared with attention to detail and tasted authenticly Italiano.
Great food, beautifully presented, great server.
altho we enjoyed ourselves, we didn't get our reward points...
...very disappointing since as we checked in we mentioned to the hostess we were Open Table reserves. please advise as to what we should about this. thank you
My husband and I were hoping for a romantic evening with an excellent dinner. We were sadly disappointed. For starters we had the mussels; they were just ok. The Caesar salad was boring. We then both ordered the seafood ravioli. Although the pasta seemed fresh, the filling was less than desirable in taste and consistency. Neither one of us finished our dishes. We had originally planned on having dessert and coffee, but with the 3 strikes mentioned above we decided to cut our losses and leave. I doubt that we will be returning.
Been here many times, always outstanding. Evening specials are worth a try for sure. Great service. 5 stars
Nice place. We recommend Ealy for a quiet dinner and later for music and louder group.
We showed up for our opentable reservation and they just said, sorry we are already closing, that was it, we were SOL! So great job on both the restaurant and open table for the quality service!
Our server was incredibly attentive and the food was outstanding! My husband ordered the margherita pizza, and I had the salmon. We shared our dishes with each other and ate almost every bite. I think we left only one slice of pizza. We were stuffed! Also, the house pino noir was delicious.
Inspite of being crowded, the service was good and the food excellent. Another wonderful dining experience at Osteria.
Again, Osteria was a great choice. They had extended ‘Restaurant Week’ so we were able to order from their special fixed-price menu. Everyone was pleased with the superior quality of the food and the excellent service.
Great food. The staff are so friendly. Many thanks to Diego, Pietro, May and all others for always making us feel welcomed and special.
Food was mediocre at best. Dining room was uncomfortably warm. This was not our first time at the restaurant but it will likely be our last. Too many great dining establishments in Santa Fe to keep this on our list.
Very nice dining experience. I thought the seafood in the seafood carbonara (salmon and shrimp) was a bit over cooked. Mushroom soup was delicious!
We love Osteria and go frequently but we went this restaurant week to enjoy their special menu and were blown away. The appetizers, black mussels, beet salad were spectacular!!! The food was excellent and the portions were huge. Each could have been shared. The entree, sole and chicken Parma, were to die for. We took a lot or each home to enjoy the next day! Don’t miss Osteria!!!!
Love this place food is the best and staff the greatest
I've eaten at Osteria D'Assisi several times in the past, and always liked it. But this time it was quite disappointing. In an effort to make things easier on themselves, apparently, they did not offer their usual menu on Valentine's Day, and instead offered a fixed price menu. The salad was ok, though it had too much dressing. I had the prime rib, which was way overcooked and tough - I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Then the dessert arrived and it was awful.
I don't see myself going back there again.
