Still hoovering restaurant on our arrival, poor bar service, couldn’t offer a glass of Prosecco only a bottle - food adequate but nothing special - would not visit again
Restaurant was closed for the evening, so couldn't actually eat there. Be nice if someone had told us
We had a wonderful, tasty 3 course meal with each course presented beautifully and tasting delicious.
We enjoyed the restaurant. It's attractive and the food was nice. It was comfortable and the surroundings are pleasant. We had spaghetti Bolognese and the focaccia garlic bread. I would say that this is likely a reliable restaurant for a pleasant experience when you're in the area, as we were.
Mother’s Day with mother and mother in law the food was great, the service and booking administration was not joined up but pleasant.
I booked this 2 months ahead but there wasn’t a table ready. When we asked it was like they were doing us a favour by allowing us to sit together. Of all the red wines on the menu they only had 1 available, so no choice.
After 2 couples left we were the only people there.
The food, however, was really good. Beautifully cooked and presented
Food good, but nobody there, so ate in bar, bar staff could be better trained, but nice enough.
Booked for New Year's Eve. £69.99 per head. Service adequate but I have to say the food was not good. Pre prepared and not fresh. The amuse bouche was a piece of French bread with smoke salmon, more like a badly done canape. The Starters were accompanied by limp salad, the plates they were served on very cold evidencing they had just been sitting uncovered in a fridge. Very odd rock hard goat's cheese, and for others, 3 tiny pieces of dry sardine. As for the main, beef wellington, the fillet of beef overcooked and resembled a piece of shoe leather, I doubted it was even fillet. The pastry was raw on the inside and undercooked, and soggy on the outside. Think had been pre cooked and microwaved. Worst beef wellington I have ever seen. We all sent back and chef offered rack of lamb.Sadly this was presented raw, not rare, with huge chunks of broccoli, soggy roast potatoes and carrots. Those who ate fish said was adequate, but the spinach and ricotta filo main had by one was also raw and underdone. As for the apple tart, again some received ice cold from the fridge, others luke warm although the flavour was good. Actually spoilt New Year's Eve and we left hungry. What was even more annoying is that I believe we were not charged for 2 bottles of wine, but were expected to pay for the nasty food. I would rather have paid for the £60 wine. I will be contacting the restaurant owner for a full refund, minus the wine. I can't believe we were actually charged £75 a head for the meal, pretty disgraceful in my opinion. We actually doubted whether there was a chef in the kitchen......
The food, when you got it was very good. delays from large private parties being booked for Christmas events on both evenings. We booked the second evening, no warning given only to turn up to a 1.30 hr delay, were told they would notify when ready to resume service, no contact, embarrassed apology when we enquired just before restaurant was due to close, we were finally served a meal, about 9.30 from a 7.30 booking. there are no other restaurants in the vicinity and it was deluging with rain.
Didn't feel it had attention to detail wasn't offered sweet or coffees and had to try hard to get attention for the bill
Main course was nice
Awfull meal staff didn’t have a clue about the food they serve
Supposed to be classic Italian restaurant but not serving Italian wine ?
Fillet steak meal was basically steak and chip but on the menu was billed as a classic Italian
Diabolicall
Tuna salad with tinned tuna...
It looked like something I'd have given to my cat....
Wanted a quiet meal. It didn’t happen and a few families came in.
Dissapointing!! The website shows a beautiful location, modern with a lovely authentic Italian menu. It’s not until you get there, you enter a traditional building with a shabby interior. The lighting is not ambient and neither calming. You feel like you’re in a theatre with green, red and yellow up and down lighters.
The table rocked and place was freezing cold and we just couldn’t get comfortable.
The staff were amazing but when asked for the vegetable lasagne they said they didn’t have it and that was the new menu on the website which is to be rolled out in a few months. I was livid. 30 min drive to a location that reflected as being outstanding felt like a a b&b. Out came the pasta which was my only vegetarian option. A can of chopped tomatoes with diced courgettes and peppers. It was by far the worst dish I had ever had. Completely tasteless. This restaurant was an absolute let down. We had a coffee and left after a £45 bill. Over priced for food which is not great.
Excellent restaurant with outstanding Italian food.
Extremely disappointing.
We were staying at the hotel so booked a reservation online to avoid disappointment of the restaurant being fully booked as the menu on line looked pretty inviting. When we arrived for our 8pm booking the waiter looked confused and somewhat vague! No warm welcome that's for sure. There were plenty of empty tables but we were asked to sit back in the bar until we were called. We waited for 15 minutes before being asked to come in to the restaurant. We were handed a day menu after we had sat waiting at the table for quite some time. I asked the waiter for the full resturant menu and not the day menu, he told me that the day menu was the only available menu. I again asked for the full menu explaining that we wanted the full menu. He went away and came back with the full menu, he was not best pleased and his tone and body language was very rude! Everything we asked for appeared to be too much trouble. We ordered our food. I asked him for the wine list, again he was very off hand. I ordered a bottle of wine and when he came back with it he 'dumped' it on the table and walked away. No showing me the bottle, no 'would you like to try it madam', in fact he didn't even remove the lid! So rude!
My rib eye steak was as tough as old boots and I couldn't eat it. I was offered a free desert but quite frankly we had all had enough by this stage and our evening had been ruined. Later on in the bar he came to get the bill signed and I asked for my rib eye to be removed from the bill which he did because as he told us he was the duty manager and he could do that! We couldn't believe it, the duty manager and this is how he treats customers!
Food was lovely i booked online that day but the restaurant had no record of my booking so we had to wait to get a table . Restaurant was lovely its based in our wedding venue where we got married 5 months ago so means alot to us
The place left such a negative impression, due to quite a few reasons. Firstly, the food just unbeatable. During the evening we have heard several other guests complaining about the quality of their ordered meals. In the end, it turned out, that they were short on stuff and that the main chef was off. Even though, stuff was courteous and polite, I would recommend to avoid this restaurant.
Good vibe with purple lighting and interesting decor. Service was good. Foccacia was nice. Main meal was a large let down. Steak was small, boring and over priced. Two baby potatoes undercooked and burnt on the sides. 12.5% gratuity automatically added to the final bill.
First problem was that the booking made by Open Table was not recorded by the restaurant. Then it took some time for the staff to finish setting tables and clearing up breakfast. The staff did not speak good English and in fact one did not understand English. They did not seem to wish to serve us but very slowly we got our drinks and then our meal. The chef was good but the food was expensive and the overall experience (4 of us alone in a large dining room) was poor.
We went for lunch with friends and managed to find the quietest restaurant in Kent. Lovely. The first and second courses were very nice if delivered a little slowly presumably because we were the only people in the restaurant. Dessert was a mixed affair but generally good. Overall value a little pricy but a good place for a quiet lunch.
We had raved about this place for weeks and weeks and had had several very nice lunches . However, when we took our friends who were staying for the Bank Holiday, we found this to be woeful. We were ignored for 15 minutes before any offer of drinks arrived. When the food eventually arrived it was lacklustre and cold. There was no quality of service and the staff were not convivial or attentive. This HAD been on our Boxing Day lunch list, but is no longer.
Everything was just very average , and therefore a bit disappointing for a first visit . The insalata caprese was no better or worse than a home produced dish , the Sea bass fillets simply fried fish with tomato sauce . Nothing wrong but certainly not worthy of a night out . Won't be visiting again .
despite large group at neighbouring table service was prompt and attentive, food was excellent with true value for money, not particularly local but will visit again. A real find.
Waited 40 minutes for starters to arrive. The main course was over cooked and burnt and just couldn't be eaten. The staff were very friendly and apologetic but will not be recommending this restaurant
We had a lovely meal on a Sunday lunchtime. It was a very laid back atmosphere with impeccable service and delicious food. Although we did not go there for a Sunday lunch, and preferred to have typical Italian food, the roast dinners looked wonderful and we will definitely be back for one of those.
Excellent food, nice environment for Mother's Day. Will be back again
Bit quiet on the night but perfect for an early Mothers Day meal. Food was very good if not a little plain. Staff really made an effort with kids which was nice. Recommend for a quiet good meal.
