Certainly Lancaster’s best kept secret!
Three of us had dinner on a Tuesday night while in the area for business. We sat in the cozy bar area. Our server was friendly and efficient and the meal and cocktails were excellent! Well worth a visit.
Service was slow, meal order was wrong but was corrected. This is the 2nd visit in a row that service was lacking. Used to be a favorite but seems to be going down hill. Won't be back anytime soon.
Food was fresh but very basic. Not a lot of imagination.
The portions were larger than expected. The wine and the food were excellent in taste and presentation. Our server was extremely helpful. I am GF and he helped me navigate the menu. Surprisingly, many of the items are or can be made GF, including the soups. The Tuscan Chili was fantastic!
Excellent food and service. For a first time diner, however finding the actual entrance was challenging.
Excellent dining/food from appetizer through dessert! Great find in Central PA even though it is an hour drive for us :o) Shawn's recommendations were fabulous and so is he. May I suggest the calamari appetizer (NOT FRIED), beef tip risotto, expresso cheesecake (NOT HEAVY). Large portions....we shared the appetizer and the dessert. I took a friend for her birthday a week ago and she is still talking about it. Oh did I mention the only 5 star in Central PA and/or 1 of 57 in the country! Very reasonably priced for lunch with wine $90 for two plus tip.
College reunion girl's weekend
Great food and fast, attentive service.
Looking for possible wedding venue
The food was outstanding! We were a very large group split into 3 tables. The restaurant is more for parties of 2 to 6 it seems. I only say that, because our food came out in several shifts while some were finished their meals, the others were receiving them. Things were not taken care of at table like extra silverware to share desserts and providing creamer and sugar with coffee. Again, I think the kitchen was overwhelmed along with our server. I do wish the service was friendlier. The quality of the food was worth it! Nothing like a good meal! We were there out of town for a tournament about 10 minutes from the restaurant for the entire weekend. We were looking to get a good meal and we did. The restaurant is cozy and small in size, tucked away in the back of the Inn. I would definitely revisit with just a smaller group next time. It is definitely a good find for foodies.
The experience was good and bad. The appetizers we ordered were very good. Our server was friendly. The atmosphere was very nice.
The bad...the bean soup tasted like pureed canned beans with a lot of oil drizzled on top. No flavor. The worst part was we ordered the special which was a $75, 28 oz Tomahawk steak medium rare and it came out well done. We waited almost 45 minutes for our entrees...makes sense now that the steak was roasting for a long time! Had we sent it back and ordered something else we would have been there even longer. We were asked how the special was and told and showed them it was well done and tasted like pot roast. The manager was milling around the dining room but did not come over. Our server offered free desserts, which we accepted but I wish we would have made more of an issue about the meat. It was very disappointing.
It's a shame, but we probably won't return.
Friendly service and attentive staff. Good food with decent prices. Will revisit soon!
The ambiance was cozy and rich feeling, better than the pictures online showed. Service providers were comfortable and management, Aaron, was likeable and clearly valued that our experience went well. Other than a somewhat less than crisp baby green side salad, the food was on par with the rest of the experience...rich and flavorful.
Filet mignon was excellent as was the service. Warming the bread would have been the icing on the cake!
Valentine dinner, the food was good, service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. The price was a little high but not outlandish.
The wait staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu selections. We celebrated an early Valentines day diner so an arrangement of flowers were at our table for an extra cost. They were beautiful. The mussels were excellent and so where our fillet dinners.
Not your run of the mill Italian. Quite eclectic and interesting menu. We enjoyed it very much and will surely be back.
Had a wonderful lunch here. Calamari was delicious. Not fried, but sautéed in white wine. So good! Beef tips with risotto was so rich and delicious. Décor was lovely. Sat by the fireplace. Great place!
Birthday for a dear friend with all of our dietary needs attended to along with gluten free dinner roles and a GF Zuppa!! Yum Yummmmmm
Thanks to the Osteria Avanti Team for another excellent dining experience!!
This place was great! We went there as part of a weekend get away. Not only was our waitress out of this world with her kindness and making sure we were ok the food was absolutely delicious. There was not one part of this experience I did not enjoy. I definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants a little romance added to their night.
We ate at this restaurant as part of a weekday package at the Inn at Leola that included a three course meal. We had a quiet table in the corner and were able to view the playoff football game on the television screen. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the wines offered and was helpful in choosing our dish. We both had the filet mignon which was cooked perfect.
I have never been to Osteria and my daughter wanted to go there for her Birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the service. We hope to re-visit sometime in the future.
The restaurant is fine, but nothing special. The staff is attentive enough and the ambiance is appropriate. The food is good but it’s simply overpriced. $17 spaghetti should be the best spaghetti I’ve ever tasted. And it wasn’t.
Love this restaurant. Service is always excellent and the wine is wonderful.
Good food great value awesome service only complaint is they were out of several prominent menu items
Ethan & staff are amazing. Lovely evening out with family by the cozy fireplace!
Excellent Aricini balls, pasta with shrimp was great my husband has the pork chop it was good but the orange glaze was little sweet. Great anniversary dinner
Lovely time with Kim as server. Food and wine great as always.
We had a nice evening for the most part. Food was good and I very much enjoyed that they offered Aviation Cocktail which is one of my favorites when made the correct way as it was here. The one point I'd make is to say they should rethink the use of a cutting board to serve steaks on. With a steak cooked medium rare, there are juices which roll right off the board as they did all over my friends pants when the server brought his meal. Not good and even worse when you are headed out to the theatre as we were that night.
Always enjoy eating here. Our waiter could use a lesson in customer service, he should act like he enjoys working there. Not very friendly, I would never hire him!
Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.
We wanted to dine here for some time and thought Thanksgiving would be a good occasion to so so.
One of the best dining experiences ever.
The food, the service and the atmosphere was perfect. Right down to the hand towels in tke restrooms.
We purchased gift certificates at the front desk and the young man couldn't have been more accomodating.
We will be back!
This is the fourth time we have dined at this venue and while the food is good, we would like to see more variety on the menu - rotating dishes in and out. For repeat diners such as the two of us, it gets to the point where you have had every item on the menu and are craving something different. The wine list is nice and we enjoy the largely Italian selection.
Absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end.
Was surprised at how great this dining experience was! I live in an area with lots of great restaurants but this was one of best meals we have ever had. Kim, our waitress was so pleasant and knowledgeable about all of the dishes and wine selections. Great place with great staff!
Very friendly service. The food was great. Nice and quiet for conversation. Beautiful setting.
It was a nice evening. We were greeted immediately, and sat at the bar. The drinks were well made. We were seated timely. Service was slow but pleasant and polite. Food was also just good, nothing special. The ambience was very nice, quiet. We actually had conversations at the table and could hear without yelling.
The drive out was beautiful and well worth it.
We received exceptional service at our last visit. The servers gave great recommendations for both entrees and drink pairings. The food was delicious as well. Always a great time at Osteria Avanti.
Excellent staff and offered a beautiful complimentary wedding desert to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary.
We sat at the bar for dinner due to the fact we thoroughly enjoyed the bartender Sean’s pairings and recommendations. We enjoyed one evening of cocktails and appetizers. And the next evening dinner and drinks.
The only negative I have is that I can’t bring a gallon of the mushroom risotto home.
