A very enjoyable experience. This was our first visit but we will return. Nice menu and every dish was dynamite. Very nice server with a pleasant personality helped make the experience even nicer.

Fantastic dinner. Very good salad with burrata, arugula, tomato, and oil cured olives. Fantastic home made shrimp filled ravioli in a cherry tomato cream sauce- amazing! Chicken scallopine perfectly mouse with prosciutto and fontina and served with masked potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Desserts were awesome too and beautifully presented table side. Ricotta pie, a special, was creamy yet dense. Service was attentive and personable. It was nice to have a server smile with every table. Will dedicatedly return!

Very nice , pretty, intimate restaurant with good service. The food was beautifully prepared but every dish was just a little too bland - needed more seasonings.

EXCELLENT food and service although a bit expensive. I would definitely go back.
The waiter was very knowledgable regarding the wine list.

The waiter was excellent the food was tasteless.we have been to Osteria al Doge and had a fantastic meal but this time it was tasteless, some of our dishes were cool while others were dry. The bill was ridiculously expensive for the size of the portions. And food was awful. Came away hungry. The only rave was the sorbet for desert.

Ella, our waitress, was warm and welcoming. She knew the menu and advised on a signature dish — homemade ravioli with a spinach filling — it melted in my mouth. Our seating toward the back of this cozy restaurant, helped to dissipate the energetic conversations taking place. We will return!

The location is very close to many Broadway theaters. The ambiance is good, the food tasty and the service attentive. Additionally, the noise level was far less than in most mid-town restaurants.

Arrived 30 min early for our reservations but were seated immediately. Crowded restaurant. Low life’s so a little hard to read menu
Waitress was very nice and accommodating. Served a bread basket without butter or oil. We had to ask for butter
We shared ceasar salad which was fresh and served in a cheese bowl, but dressing was a little flat. Needed more pepper or cheese
My DH had lasagna, which he liked. I had salmon served with spinach. Fish was very tasty and moist. We were too filled for dessert

Fresh, well made Italian food served by friendly staff. inexpensive by NYC standards. The food offerings are well thought out and varied - from Caesar salad served in a parmesan bowl to perfectly grilled calamari with arugula to nice looking pastas, not to mention a wonderful chocolate/nutella panna cotta, there are choice for everyone.Tables are crowded together. Great pre or post theater option

I had the liver entree. The liver was over cooked and in small pieces. The spinach was not flavorful at all.
My brother had the shrimp pasta dish which had very few shrimp and very small shrimp.
I had a glass of Montepulciano wine which was not very good.
Overall a disappointing experience.

Always good food but this time service was inexplicably slow to get us out the door by 7:30 for the show. 2 tables that arrived after us were served before us, and we had soup and mussels for antipasti; split veal scallopini for dinner. No time for dessert

Extremely loud. This was our second visit. First visit was better. The food this time was quite bland and nothing special for the expensive price. Do not order dessert! I ordered a piece of chocolate mousse cake. It wasnt anything special and it was $14.00. A definite rip off. Would not go back and would not recommend. I think there are better options in the area.

What an extremely pleasant surprise! I’ve dined at pre theater restaurants before and felt as though the food was being served on a conveyor belt-NOT HERE. It was the perfect pre theater dining experience! Our waitress Elizabeth was so nice ! Remembered everything! Our food was so delicious and fresh! I can’t wait to go back just for dinner with friends!

The location and the ambiance was quite good. However neither my husband nor I thought that the food was exceptional. We had to ask for the caprese salad which was not on the menu and it was a disappointment. It was actually a bit bland. The pasta we ordered was also passable but not very special.

Saturday, early dinner post-matinee: the restaurant was quite full and on the noisy side but we were seated near the front at a charming table astutely set at a slant which made it feel spacious.
Service was impeccably efficient, accurate and polite yet not stiff and not rushed.
The menu of actual Italian food (not Italian-American) is not overwhelmingly extensive and energy was not wasted by a waiter reciting an interminable list of specials no one remembers: soup of the day, one appetizer, one main course.
Everything we ordered (fritto misto, mozzarella burrata, grilled octopus, then grilled salmon, grilled calamari, seafood linguine, orechiette w/ sausage and broccoli rabe, veal scaloppine, and finally a tiramisù and a fresh fruit tart) was delicious, carefully presented without meaningless extravagances, and offered in satisfying yet not Gargantuan amounts. A thoroughly enjoyable experience throughout, which all of us are looking forward to renewing.

We were in town for one night for a show and did not think to make a reservation until a few days prior. There were 6 of us (including a teenager) so we needed a menu that was not too "out there", reasonably priced and within walking distance of the theater. After reviewing many places we were lucky enough to get a reservation at 5pm. The food was very good (nice selection) and prices were reasonable. It got very crowded but they never rushed us through-(which I read some other places were notorious for.) All over a very good experience.

Having had a good experience here in February, we brought friends back this week. It was a huge disappointment. First, we were seated by the front door as "there were no other tables, just booth seats" at 5pm? One of our guests was constantly hit in the back by servers and the reservation desk person. The wind blew in on us with each entry. Our waiter, Rex, was either poorly trained or just didn't care. He served over everyone and wiped the mouth of our wine bottle with his fingers with each pouring instead of a cloth. The veal scaloppine, ok. Grilled Octopus dry. Bistecca, average. Chicken special, not special. Braised lamb shank and the fritto misto the best. Rex was scattered and really didn't care. He plopped the dessert tray heavily on the end of our table while pointing to the desserts. We didn't order. Frankly, I wouldn't have tipped 20%, but my spouse was kinder. It will be a while before we return, if ever.

Excellent choice for a pre-theater dinner. Service was excellent as was the food. The meal was not rushed yet they were sensitive to our need to get to the theater. Highly recommend.

Food is consistently good. Caesar salad in the parmesan basket is not to be missed! Portions are large, everything is fresh and flavorful, and prices for NYC are reasonable. This restaurant is without a doubt one of the best in the theatre district.

Fantastic experience. As a party of 6 with two young children in our group; we had a brilliant experience. The lady who served us could not do enough for us and she encouraged my reluctant youngest to eat her pasta which she loved. Also the best chocolate mousse I’ve ever had....

This is our second visit to Osteria al Doge. We love it! They respect a nice casual dining experience but also accommodates you if you are in a hurry. Our flight to NYC was cancelled due to high winds. We drove 5 1/2 hours to get to NYC. We needed to change our reservation time and they were able to still take our reservation. Changing our reservation meant we had limited time before the show. They were so good about getting our food to us right away - getting the check to us immediately AND even ensured we had a great dining experience!
We would highly recommend this restaurant! Thank you.....

The warm blooded, kind, knowledgeable, experienced maitre d’ immediately identified our need for a table accommodating my cumbersome business roller. We were given a wonderful table that met our needs perfectly. I immediately knew that we were in for a splendid time. We were looked after for our pre-show meal. I advised the waitress of our time constraint and she helped us choose our meal accordingly. The salads were fresh, lovely to the eye, tasty and generous in portion. The pizza was crunchy, warm, flavorful and gooey-they got it right! The pasta dishes were melt in your mouth delicious. We were in great spirits for the theater and on time to boot! This terrific restaurant glows warmly from it’s inviting decor, it’s sumptuous food to it’s thoughtful staff. It can be a second home. Looking forward to our return!

On balance, disappointing. Service was great, but pasta portions small (not just by NY standards). Linguini with clams not properly prepared — grit in the dish because clams not properly cleaned. Will not return.
