Osteria al Doge
We always go here when in NYC and it is always superb!
Always my fav prethreatre stop! Amazing food.
Everything about this restaurant is wonderful every time I dine there.
The restaurant came highly recommend, but I was very disappointed in the food. My pork tenderloin was over cooked and tough. I ordered the baby spinach and beet salad, but it had no flavor at all. The wait staff was excellent, but I will never eat there again.
Great food. Clean and lovely setting! Our server was fantastic and attentive! Have visited here many times! ❤️
Have been going there for years always great never disappoints - friendly accommodating staff great food great location
This gem is my go-to place for great food, excellent service, a very cool space and unpretentious vibe
Always a pleasure, always accommodating, and the food never disappoints!
Food was just so so. Won’t go back.
Had the Bronzino - and was excellent with the celery root; I substituted steamed spinach with garlic for green beans and was awesome. service was fast and food was hot.
We arrived quite a bit early for dinner before going to s show. We told Andrew, our waiter, that was had quite a bit of time. He told us to take our time and enjoy ourselves. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The octopus was perfectly prepared and seasoned and the presentation appetizing. Andrew was present and made sure thing were right but never intrusive. We had the ravioli special and homemade pasta with a beef ragu. Both were very tasty and nicely presented. The moose desert was quite good but more on the cake like side.
All in all, a very enjoyable dinner. We will definitely be back.
The service was very good, the food was good, but not great. Went after a show. We had a reservation, sat right down no problem. The service and kitchen were very quick.
Our “go to” before theater. Excellent preparations both from menu and specials. Attentive service and a nice small restaurant atmosphere.
We’ve been here before but were disappointed this time. Took forever to get our cocktails as well as have someone take our order. The waiter was apologetic but .... Also, ordered wine for dinner but it never came. Not sure we will be back. Expect there are many other places that have better service.
We ate here many years ago. We selected this restaurant for its convenience to our theater and it worked out very well. The food was good along with the service.
For a full priced restaurant, there should not be an up charge for switching from potatoes to a vegetable
Specials should be presented with server detailing price; customer should not have to ask and appear annoyed at inquiries
Servers should look at customers, rather than away when taking dinner orders
It was fabulous, service was great and food was outstanding
This is our favorite place in the Theater District! The food is excellent and the service outstanding!
Delicious food and very quick kitchen (as we had a show).
We love Osteria al Doge and it’s one of our favorite restaurants to go to pre-theatre.
As always, a delightful lunch-with-friends experience. Excellent ravioli special! Went on Tuesday, so noise level was considerably lower. Favorite go to for Theater District meet - for- lunch destination.
This is a perfect pre-theater choice. The food is excellent. The place doesn't look or feel like a tourist trap, yet it's right in the heart of the theater district. This has become one of our go-to places when we're seeing a show.
Excellent food at moderate prices and great service by Pre.
Excellent food, great service, friendly and accommodating staff. Very nice ambiance.
Service was clumsy, food was mundane but location was great. Don’t think I’ll be back for 5-10 years but I’d send any tourist your way for pre-theatre meal.
Beautiful, clean, well maintained restaurant. Food was delicious, staff was polite, attentive, and genuinely cheerful. Excellent experience!!! I highly recommend it.
Overall our meals were satisfying, but when comparing this meal to other NY eateries offering an Italian flare, it seemed to lack something that draws you back. I ordered the Grigliato Di Verdure Antipasti and the Grigliata Di Pesce as a main dish. The presentation for both dishes was exquisite. The service was good, but it did not meet standards for a higher end establishment. We also experienced someone off the street announcing to the entire restaurant a need for spare change to pay for a bus fare or something after he identified suffering from aspergers. Not sure if this is the norm, but I think he was whisked away. Great location to the many theatres.
Great food and drinks
Our dinner was good, but not great. The pork loin was a little dry, and my husband’s pasta was way too thick. This restaurant used to be much better, or maybe they were just having an off night on Saturday. I would recommend it nevertheless if you are looking for dinner before the theater. It couldn’t be more convenient. And the waiters will get you in and out in plenty of time for your play.
Our pasta dishes were absolutely delicious! This was our second visit to the restaurant and we will be back again! From The Harleysville Trio.
Always love this place but it was quite empty on a July Saturday afternoon. Quiet but same great food and service. The Caesar salad is amazing -- the salad is mounded up inside a parmesan cheese nest. My son liked the grilled octopus and I can never order anything but the spaghetti with white clam sauce.
Wonderful pre theatre dinner with my wife we have been here previously and it was excellent. Service, Food and atmosphere
I love coming here when I come in to NYC. Food is always consistently good and service always accommodating. The noise can't be helped as it is NY after all but a bit quieter upstairs. Fish and pasta always fresh and portion sizes perfect. A mainstay for me when coming to the theater or anytime.
The service and meals were wonderful!
Great food with wonderful service. Perfect for pre theater
Great pre-theatre place - service is fast and the food is very good. Some of their specials such as the risotto with pears is exceptional.
Osteria al Doge is a great choice for pre- or post-theatre. The menu is great, the service is great, and the food is also great! Our party of 4 all ordered different things and were thoroughly delighted with our choices. We started with a Margherita pizza and mushroom crostini, and moved on to grilled salmon, Sea Bream, and the spinach and ricotta ravioli in butter and sage. Everything was absolutely delivious! And even though we were stuffed, we "forced" ourselves to order dessert. The tiramisu and hazelnut crunch and chocolate torte were a perfect ending to a perfect meal!
If all of that wasn't enough, our waiter Paul was so terrific he would be a great reason to return for another fabulous evening!
Great location and reasonable menu
Service and ambiance were wonderful.
Would recommend highly.
Our third time to visit this restaurant. Food and service both excellent.
